We have a little girl named [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f], who we call the full “[name_f]Victoria[/name_f],” “[name_f]Cora[/name_f],” and/or “[name_f]Cora[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f].” Our names are [name_m]William[/name_m] (goes by [name_m]Will[/name_m]) and [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] (go by the full “[name_f]Catherine[/name_f]”). We are expecting a baby boy in [name_f]February[/name_f]! We love classic, traditional names, obviously, and we were sold on [name_m]Henry[/name_m] when [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] was born. The problem is that it has become so popular along with other favorites like [name_m]William[/name_m] (call him “[name_m]Liam[/name_m]”) and [name_u]James[/name_u], that now we are shying away a bit. We have [name_u]Everett[/name_u] as a family name (my great-grandfather). Does [name_u]Everett[/name_u] go with [name_m]William[/name_m], [name_f]Catherine[/name_f], and [name_f]Victoria[/name_f]? Too out of the box or trendy? [name_f]Do[/name_f] [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] and [name_u]Everett[/name_u] sound good as siblings? Other suggestions?
Honestly, I do think [name_u]Everett[/name_u] is a bit trendy when paired with the core classics, especially when you figure in the rising popularity of similar sounding names like [name_u]Eliot[/name_u] and [name_u]Emmett[/name_u]. You could definitely get away with it without raising any eyebrows - especially since it’s a family name - but to my ear it doesn’t have the same weight about it as [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] (or [name_m]Henry[/name_m], [name_u]James[/name_u], [name_m]William[/name_m]…). What about one of the lesser used classics?
[name_m]Edward[/name_m]
[name_m]George[/name_m]
[name_m]Stephen[/name_m]
[name_m]Philip[/name_m]
[name_m]Thomas[/name_m]
[name_m]Charles[/name_m]
[name_m]Peter[/name_m]
[name_m]Vincent[/name_m] (maybe no V names though)
[name_m]Richard[/name_m] (this would be perfect)
[name_m]Robert[/name_m]
[name_m]Arthur[/name_m]
[name_m]Louis[/name_m]
[name_m]John[/name_m] (yes, less common)
Again, [name_u]Everett[/name_u] is perfectly fine with [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] if that’s what you like the most.
I suggest [name_m]Charles[/name_m]! [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] is a very cute name. But I also do like [name_m]Arthur[/name_m], it is very classy. [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] is adorable but frankly it’s a little too cutesy to match with [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] in my opinion.
[name_m]Don[/name_m]'t go with [name_m]Roland[/name_m] or [name_m]Graham[/name_m] or [name_m]Franklin[/name_m] or [name_m]George[/name_m] or [name_u]Quincy[/name_u] or [name_m]Miles[/name_m]. Ew ew ew. And with [name_m]Harvey[/name_m], there’s the hurricane and the Weinstein reputation to contend with…
[name_u]Darren[/name_u] is a bit too modern I think.
I would like to second the suggestions of [name_m]Edward[/name_m], [name_m]Charles[/name_m], [name_m]Philip[/name_m], [name_m]George[/name_m], [name_m]Peter[/name_m], [name_m]Arthur[/name_m], [name_m]Louis[/name_m], [name_m]Richard[/name_m], [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] and [name_m]Nicholas[/name_m]. I agree with @dizzy that [name_u]Everett[/name_u] does not have the same weight about it as [name_m]William[/name_m], [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] and [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] but that that [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] and [name_u]Everett[/name_u] work just fine.
