A certain urgent help with one of these middle names!

Hello everyone,

As I’ve said before in here, I am filled with a huge amount of doubt concerning these choices and I’m getting sincerely anxious because time is running… I would like a name that truly sounds like a princess, a real princess with a Victorian essence of grace and charm, a timeless/classic name that can be easily understood and that captivates by its “melody” (it’s fine if it’s too sweet, I like sweetness when it comes to names very much).

Considering that I’m in Brazil but fluent in English and I have an Italian surname starting with the letter A, I would love to see the votes in here.

Yes, I have considered plenty of other names, but they were either too problematic considering Brazilian Portuguese (by that I mean I can’t just throw a lovely but unusual French name as a middle name and expect it to work well in here or with my surnames) or they didn’t function with Isabella at all in terms of harmony.

I’m not very scared of popularity at all, I believe that good names become popular for a reason…But I’m indeed scared of a bad combination or a name that will “age strangely” or even worse, one that will be “eternally corrected” all over the world, that’s all. I really like names that will sound beautiful here in Brazil, in Norway, in France, in Switzerland, in Germany, in Spain, in Italy of course… etc.

And yes, I intend not to leave the middle name as an accessory, I’d like to use it along with Isabella very often, that’s why it’s an important choice for myself…

I love the name [name_f]Beatriz[/name_f], so [name_f]Isabella[/name_f] [name_f]Beatriz[/name_f] would generally be my preference, but I agree with the previous poster that [name_f]Isabella[/name_f] [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] fits your criteria of [name_f]Victorian[/name_f] princess better.

I love the name [name_f]Beatriz[/name_f]. It’s a bit more sparky and playful than “sweet and princessy” to me. Also, even though Beatrice/Beatriz/Beatrix is very international, the [name_f]Beatriz[/name_f] spelling very much ties it to a Spanish or Portuguese speaking country (imo) whereas [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] truly feels international to me.

If you want something international (which isn’t usually super important) and set on a soft, sweet and refined princessy feel, go Isabella Sophia.

If you want a “harder” (more historical sounding, haughty & fun) princess - even a young queen - go Isabella Beatriz. But it has a slightly more forthright and grounded vibe.

I prefer Isabella Beatriz as a combo but Isabella Sophia seems to fit more of your criteria.

Neither will age badly or provoke a bad reaction - they’re both timeless, elegant and charming. It really is a “can’t go wrong” situation where a decision just has to be made. Is it possible you’re transferring some nerves about the birth / life change onto this decision? Normal if you are, just might be good to be aware of it, if so..

Which goes better with your last name when you say them all?

Feel free to delete the reply with your last name but hearing this, I think it’s pretty clear that Sophia flows better. There’s something a little less fluid with Beatriz. And yes, overall Isabella Sophia A____ is a very pretty, gentle and elegant name.

Having said that, I still think Beatriz overall seems more authentically regal; royal names are more about the names honouring other royalty than “perfect flow”. Beatriz & Beatrice have a long history of use among the nobility and the strong B gives it, I think, more authority and presence than Sophia. As said above too, Isabella Beatriz sounds more like someone who actually belongs to a lineage - it’s more than a pretty name.

So to me, Beatriz still wins out but hopefully my reasons help you decide either way. It’s perfectly fine to choose the name for flow / rhythm.

Some other middle ideas (again this could just firm up your choice): Alessandra, Astrid, Athena, Caterina, Catherine, Florence, Eleanore, Henrietta, Ingrid, Ginevra, Charlotte, Chiara, Louise, Margaret, Mathilde, Philippa, Victoria, Vittoria.

And wildcard suggestion: Beatriz Sophia A____

Good luck!
