Hey berries I have a slight dilemma trying to come with a name that has some sort of association with ducks(in all seriousness). My partner used to be a surfer in his youth and gained the duck link, I keep this with my pet name for him of ‘Patito’ meaning duckling. [name_m]Long[/name_m] story short how can I link this without the obvious [name_m]Drake[/name_m], [name_m]Donald[/name_m] or [name_u]Daffy[/name_u]? I appreciate the input!
Hmm, besides [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] for a girl, I’m not sure I have ideas! “pato” is the Spanish and Portuguese word for “duck”–maybe something like [name_m]Patrick[/name_m] nn Pato? I’m most familiar with [name_m]French[/name_m], so I go straight to “canard”, but that’s not very usable, lol. Maybe you could use Canard as a MN? Something like [name_u]Elias[/name_u] Canard might be nice. Otherwise, I really don’t know, sorry! I suppose there’s the Italian word, anatra, but it would make a better girls’ name (maybe with the nn [name_f]Anna[/name_f]/[name_f]Annie[/name_f]). The only name I found meaning anything to do with duck was [name_m]Drake[/name_m], which you already mentioned.

[name_m]Declan[/name_m] has been on and off of our list for a very long time. If we used it, his nickname would be Ducky!

[name_m]How[/name_m] about Anden? While it is a very rare name, it still has a familiar sound to it. In Swedish ‘en and’ = a duck, ‘anden’ = the duck. It also means ‘the spirit’ in Swedish.

Well…there’s always [name_m]Drake[/name_m], if you can stand the celebrity association. 
I call all ducks either [name_u]Francis[/name_u] or [name_f]Jemima[/name_f], as in [name_u]Francis[/name_u] [name_m]Drake[/name_m] and [name_f]Jemima[/name_f] Puddleduck. Haha I don’t know whether those appeal to you at all, or whether the references are strong enough for you, but they are definitely not as obvious as [name_u]Daffy[/name_u], [name_m]Drake[/name_m] and [name_m]Donald[/name_m].
Have you looked at the different types of ducks to see if any would be usable? [name_u]Teal[/name_u] is a duck but I think more recognized as a color. Merganser or Bufflehead won’t do
Maybe a duck containing surname - Duckett, Ducksworth, Duckworth?
I think Ducky works as pet name/nickname for whatever you pick as a first name.
I don’t have any name suggestions, sorry. I would however advise against using “pato” as a nickname because, although it does mean duck, it also is Spanish slang for a gay person and is used offensively as an insult.
You could go with Eider (pronounced EYE-der) which is the common name of a few kinds or duck.
I’m from a Spanish speaking country and here Pato (Spanish for duck) is the common nickname for [name_m]Patricio[/name_m] and [name_f]Patricia[/name_f], so that might be nice too. Also, I have to say it’s definitely NOT slang for anything and not used offensively over here. [name_m]Just[/name_m] so you know it’s not a global thing, I didn’t even have a clue that happened anywhere

I went to high school with a boy from another country, Duk [name_f]Ki[/name_f] [name_m]Yu[/name_m]. He went by Duk [name_f]Ki[/name_f].
