A Feeling of Wonder, a Touch of Magic

We’ve been back and forth and can only agree on one name of our list, so now I’m going to ask for suggestions. I’ve listed the names on our list below to get you an idea of what we like. I’m starting to freak out now as I’m in the second trimester, and still no closer to a name (oh, a little closer, but not much). And it’s a girl (85% sure), so I am now going to concentrate on the fierce little ladies.

Suggestions: Nothing is too stupid (except stupid names obviously). I love names from everywhere, but I do want names (namesakes) with a history. However, that’s my crazy, if you’ve got a name you think maybe we’d like but don’t know the history, suggest it and I can look it up. I don’t care if the name is from mythology, history, literature or you know, something else, I just want it to be amazing. I’m also looking for middles, so I’ll basically take anything. Except for [name_f]Jane[/name_f]. I’m especially interested in Scandinavian and Norse names, but Husband has a weird thing about them not being “pretty” enough. But I’m half Norwegian, and I’d like my second daughter to have a Northern name in there somewhere. [name_f]Sister[/name_f]'s name: [name_f]Aphrodite[/name_f] [name_u]Marian[/name_u] Illyria. I am NOT looking for combos as that will only confuse my pregnant brain.

So new list goes like this. [name_f]Morgana[/name_f] is still completely and utterly heavenly, so she’s safe. These names you’ve seen and commented on before, and they’re still on our list, but we can’t agree.

Bellicent (Husband isn’t too crazy about having this and Morgs as potential sisters (Bellicent=Morgause=[name_f]Morgana[/name_f]'s sister)
Boadicea (We can only have one strong warrior beginning with a B and we are not in agreement of which to keep)
Bradamante (see Boadicea)
[name_f]Circe[/name_f] (Husband thinks we should keep this for a future child, or use as a middle)
[name_f]Cleopatra[/name_f] (We can only have one awesome ancient queen and we’re stuck on different ones)
[name_f]Guinevere[/name_f] ([name_m]Both[/name_m] love, but uncertain if we can use this and [name_f]Morgana[/name_f])
Gwenllian ([name_f]One[/name_f] of us loves this more than the other)
[name_f]Isis[/name_f] (We can’t have an [name_f]Isis[/name_f] and a [name_f]Cleo[/name_f], nor an [name_f]Isis[/name_f] and an [name_f]Isolde[/name_f])
[name_f]Isolde[/name_f] (can’t have [name_f]Isis[/name_f] and [name_f]Isolde[/name_f], we’re in disagreement)
Nimue/Niniane (We can’t have two ladies of the lake running around the house. We each have a favourite)
[name_f]Olympia[/name_f] (Husband loves this, but think we should save for future child)
Tinuviel (Husband is worried it’s too cute (???))
[name_f]Yavanna[/name_f] (Husband is worried it’s too close to [name_f]Morgana[/name_f]. I don’t think so as the -ana in Morgs is dragged out, and here it’s all bouncy)
[name_f]Zenobia[/name_f] (See [name_f]Cleopatra[/name_f])

[name_m]New[/name_m] (haha) additions to the first name list:
[name_f]Angharad[/name_f]
[name_f]Artemisia[/name_f]
[name_f]Atalanta[/name_f]
Belphoebe
[name_f]Callisto[/name_f]
[name_f]Cassandra[/name_f]
Coventina
Daronwy
Elbereth/Elentari
Galadriel
Hespera (middle unless He can be persuaded)
[name_f]Inanna[/name_f]
[name_f]Isabella[/name_f]
Laudine
[name_f]Melusine[/name_f]
Nehalennia
Ostara
[name_f]Pandora[/name_f] (If I can convince Him)

Trephina
Undomiel
Valkyrie
[name_f]Veronika[/name_f]

UPDATE PAGE 5!

Oh me oh my! Otter lists to help the afternoon pass by!

You know my thoughts on your top list, so I won’t repeat myself. [name_f]Yavanna[/name_f] is quite interesting. Have to mull on it for a while as I don’t know how I feel about it with [name_f]Aphrodite[/name_f].

Your new list:
[name_f]Cassandra[/name_f] is a long time love. [name_f]Love[/name_f] it. Is it too normal? I use normal loosely, as I don’t think there is anything abnormal about your other choices.

[name_f]Inanna[/name_f]. I like this one. Reminds me of [name_f]Isannah[/name_f]. Very close to [name_f]Yavanna[/name_f] to me though.

[name_f]Isabella[/name_f]. I never would have pictured you liking this one! I love the name, but know so many [name_f]Isabel[/name_f]/[name_f]Isabelle[/name_f]/[name_f]Isabella[/name_f] that it is a little scary. It’s a beautiful name, but next to [name_f]Aphrodite[/name_f], it seems so common.

[name_f]Rhiannon[/name_f]. Huge guilty pleasure of mine. [name_f]Love[/name_f] the meaning. A little [name_f]Ria[/name_f] to play with Roo.

[name_f]Veronika[/name_f]- love it with the K.

Pulzella- this is fun. Feisty but sweet with the nn [name_f]Zella[/name_f].

My suggestion:
[name_m]How[/name_m] do you feel about [name_f]Minerva[/name_f]? I particularly like it as she is a Domincan heroine… Strong and inspirational. [name_f]Minerva[/name_f] Mirabal if you’re interested in looking her up.

At my [name_f]MIL[/name_f] house so I can’t write anymore… Hang in there! You’ll find the perfect name!

My personal favorites (any one of these would make a PERFECT sister for [name_f]Aphrodite[/name_f] and are gorgeous as well, [name_f]IMO[/name_f]):
[name_f]Zenobia[/name_f]
[name_f]Isis[/name_f]
[name_f]Rhiannon[/name_f]

With your daughter, I quite like

Boadicea – yes a million times.
[name_f]Cleopatra[/name_f] – I like her sound better with your daughter
Gwenllian — again, a millions yes
Tinuviel – What’s wrong with him? It’s gorgeous
[name_f]Artemisia[/name_f]
Galadriel – I think this drifts into too LOTR but its fab
[name_f]Inanna[/name_f]
[name_f]Melusine[/name_f]
Ostara
Pulzella – I think this would be a fab middle
[name_f]Rhiannon[/name_f]
[name_f]Titania[/name_f]
Valkyrie – even though they’re things, I love it

So from all those, my top three are (and in order) – Gwenllian, Ostara, [name_f]Rhiannon[/name_f]

My suggestions

[name_f]Eira[/name_f]
Inkeri – Finnish form of [name_f]Ingrid[/name_f]
Runa
Svenja
Verdandi

[name_f]Eowyn[/name_f]
[name_f]Lyra[/name_f] – from the constellation, for [name_m]Orpheus[/name_m]'s [name_u]Lyre[/name_u] and for [name_f]Lyra[/name_f] Silvertongue in His Dark Materials

[name_f]Catalina[/name_f] – [name_f]Catalina[/name_f] de Erauso – Abandoning the life and nunnery her parents had chosen for her, [name_f]Catalina[/name_f] de Erauso dressed herself as a man and pursued a successful military career in South [name_u]America[/name_u], before returning to Spain and revealing her secrets. She recorded her exploits in the perfectly titled “Lieutenant Nun: Memoir of a Basque Transvestite in the [name_m]New[/name_m] World”.
[name_f]Theodora[/name_f] – from [name_f]Empress[/name_f] [name_f]Theodora[/name_f]
[name_f]Sigrid[/name_f] – The viking rebel woman who wouldn’t stop worshiping the old gods.

I’m trying to find a way to suggest [name_f]Moll[/name_f] as she’s one of my favorites female’s in literature (by [name_m]Daniel[/name_m] Defoe. This famous and bestselling novel details The Fortunes and Misfortunes of the Famous [name_f]Moll[/name_f] Flanders, who was a thief, a wife, a mother, a whore, and much more.)

[name_u]Kyrie[/name_u]

At times my life suddenly opens its eyes in the dark.
A feeling of masses of people pushing blindly
through the streets, excitedly, toward some miracle,
while I remain here and no one sees me.

It is like the child who falls asleep in terror
listening to the heavy thumps of his heart.
For a long, long time till morning puts his light in the locks
and the doors of darkness open.

What about Ashera? It’s more subtle, but still major (a form of Ishtar/[name_f]Inanna[/name_f]), once worshipped as the wife of the Hebrew God, but on her own before, It will likely be taken as a feminine form of [name_m]Asher[/name_m], which seems to be quite popular of late (and the pronunciation is [name_m]Asher[/name_m]-uh). I love many of your choices esp. [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f], [name_f]Isolda[/name_f], [name_f]Calista[/name_f], [name_f]Cassandra[/name_f], and Hespera has a softness about it. (Indulge my spelling preferences).

I’m also Scandinavian, but Swedish not Norwegian! My favorite Scandinavian/Norse girl name is [name_f]Astrid[/name_f]. [name_f]Astrid[/name_f] means divinely beautiful. [name_f]Hope[/name_f] you find the perfect name for your future little girl!

From your lists, of course [name_f]Morgana[/name_f] is still my number one. [name_f]Aphrodite[/name_f] and [name_f]Morgana[/name_f] are magical together. My next four from all the lists in order are:

  1. [name_f]Isis[/name_f] – If I can only have [name_f]Cleopatra[/name_f] or [name_f]Isis[/name_f], I prefer [name_f]Isis[/name_f]. It’s short and powerful and stands up wonderfully to her sister.
  2. Tinuviel – [name_f]Love[/name_f] this with [name_f]Dita[/name_f]. It’s not too cute, it’s gorgeous
  3. [name_f]Melusine[/name_f] – she has the oceany feel that [name_f]Aphrodite[/name_f] has, and she’s gorgeous
  4. Ostara – [name_f]Love[/name_f] it with [name_f]Dita[/name_f]! Powerful and strong and [name_f]Starla[/name_f] would be adorable

Comments on the others:

Bellicent – I love her so much more as a middle
Boadicea – [name_f]Love[/name_f] it a lot. I think you’d have to have a C as the 3rd though
Bradamante – She sounds so harsh to me
[name_f]Circe[/name_f] – I just don’t like her with [name_f]Aphrodite[/name_f]. She’s a wonderful middle, but I don’t like the similar endings
[name_f]Cleopatra[/name_f] – I would rather have [name_f]Isis[/name_f]. She’s great, but not as good as [name_f]Isis[/name_f].
[name_f]Guinevere[/name_f] – I’ve already given you my arguements as to why it’s weird with [name_f]Morgana[/name_f]. If you find Bellicent weird, why not [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f]?
Gwenllian – She’s great and I [name_f]ADORE[/name_f] her but I like others better. She needs to stay as a middle
[name_f]Isolde[/name_f] – I much prefer [name_f]Isis[/name_f]. [name_f]Isolde[/name_f] doesn’t do anything for me and her story is lovely but she doesn’t live up to her sister
Nimue/Niniane – Meh. She’s a great middle, but I don’t like her in the front. Niniane is my favorite of the 2
[name_f]Olympia[/name_f] – I already told you my weirdness here, but I know what you’re going for
[name_f]Yavanna[/name_f] – I do think this is too close to [name_f]Morgana[/name_f] and I like [name_f]Morgana[/name_f] a lot better. She’s fun though, so keep her for a middle
[name_f]Zenobia[/name_f] – She’s beautiful and I love her but not as much as others. [name_f]Aphrodite[/name_f] and [name_f]Zenobia[/name_f] as a good A-Z thing but the next would have to be B or Y :stuck_out_tongue:
[name_f]Angharad[/name_f] – Very harsh sounding next to [name_f]Aphrodite[/name_f]
[name_f]Artemisia[/name_f] – Gorgeous but I don’t like it with [name_f]Aphrodite[/name_f]. It has contrasting sounds I don’t like, and I just don’t like [name_u]Artemis[/name_u] and [name_f]Aphrodite[/name_f] together
[name_f]Atalanta[/name_f] – She’s one of my favorite middles for you. I love her with [name_f]Morgana[/name_f]. [name_f]Morgana[/name_f] [name_f]Zephyrine[/name_f] [name_f]Atalanta[/name_f]
Belphoebe – I adore her as a middle, but she’s too similar to [name_f]Aphrodite[/name_f] for me
[name_f]Callisto[/name_f] – Meh. She doesn’t do anything for me
[name_f]Cassandra[/name_f] – [name_f]Love[/name_f] it and [name_f]Aphrodite[/name_f] and [name_f]Cassandra[/name_f] as cool together, but I like others better. Middle
Coventina – Makes me think of covet
Daronwy – I don’t like the sound.
Elbereth/Elentari – Elentari is cool. I love both of these for the middle, but not for the first
Galadriel – Gorgeous, love the meaning, love the connections, but she’s way to LOTR. Middle
Hespera – While I like her with [name_f]Aphrodite[/name_f], not as much as others. She’s a great middle
[name_f]Inanna[/name_f] – [name_f]Love[/name_f] it, would rank but there are others I like better. Keep for middle
[name_f]Isabella[/name_f] – [name_m]WAY[/name_m] to normal next to the others and [name_f]Aphrodite[/name_f] and very popular. I think of [name_f]Isabella[/name_f] of Spain, but still
Laudine – It makes me think of cough drops
Nehalennia – I’m not entirely sure how to say this one. Help with pronunciation and who this is?
[name_f]Pandora[/name_f] – You know my thoughts here, and I think the feeling is SO different to [name_f]Aphrodite[/name_f]. I think you should try to keep it in the middle since you love it
Pulzella – I just don’t like the sound very much, but it would be a cool middle
[name_f]Rhiannon[/name_f] – Very nice and mythological, but very bland to me
Silmarien – I want this to stay as a middle. I just don’t like it as a first next to the others
[name_f]Titania[/name_f] – I just prefer [name_f]Tatiana[/name_f] and though I love the literary connections, I just don’t like Tit being in there
Trephina – This is very cool, and I think it might be my number 6
Undomiel – I just don’t like the sounds with [name_f]Aphrodite[/name_f]
Valkyrie – I do love the sound, but prefer the names of the Valkyrie personally
[name_f]Veronika[/name_f] – this seems entirely too normal next to all the others and [name_f]Aphrodite[/name_f]

I would suggest stuff but it’s storming and I need to get off the computer. I’ll be back though.

From the ones currently on your list, I really love: [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f] (although I do understand the issue with having a [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f] and a [name_f]Morgana[/name_f], it is still beautiful), Gwenllian, and [name_f]Isolde[/name_f].

From your new choices, I particularly like:

[name_f]Cassandra[/name_f] - pretty
[name_f]Melusine[/name_f] - Simply stunning! Probably my favorite from your new list, and it stands up well with [name_f]Aphrodite[/name_f]
[name_f]Titania[/name_f] - This one is very magical sounding to me
Valkyrie - This one I am on the fence about, it’s very intriguing to me

Other Suggestions

From Norse Mythology
[name_f]Eir[/name_f]
[name_f]Signy[/name_f]

From Greek Mythology
[name_f]Astraea[/name_f]
[name_f]Hermione[/name_f]

I decided to choose five from your list (besides [name_f]Morgana[/name_f]):

Bradamante- I love this so much I based the name of the main character in ‘What a Prospect!’ on it. He’s Bradiganti. So thanks!
[name_f]Isolde[/name_f]
[name_f]Callisto[/name_f]- [name_f]Callisto[/name_f] is so soft. It feels like a whisper in the same way that [name_f]Aphrodite[/name_f] does.
[name_f]Cassandra[/name_f]
[name_f]Pandora[/name_f]

*I like [name_f]Angharad[/name_f] too obvs  But for me, Morgs and [name_f]Angharad[/name_f] are the same person, lol.

Favorites from the old list: [name_f]Morgana[/name_f], [name_f]Circe[/name_f], [name_f]Cleopatra[/name_f], [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f], [name_f]Isolde[/name_f], [name_f]Olympia[/name_f], [name_f]Zenobia[/name_f]

Favorites from the new list: [name_f]Artemisia[/name_f] ([name_f]Morgana[/name_f] and [name_f]Artemisia[/name_f] are pretty much tied for my favorites; adore it so much!), [name_f]Callisto[/name_f], [name_f]Cassandra[/name_f], [name_f]Isabella[/name_f] (yeah, definitely a difference in popularity with [name_f]Aphrodite[/name_f], but I think their four-syllable length ties them together enough so that it isn’t too strange), Nehalennia (although I prefer it spelled Nehelenia, which would make [name_f]Helen[/name_f] a nice nickname), [name_f]Pandora[/name_f], [name_f]Rhiannon[/name_f], [name_f]Titania[/name_f], and [name_f]Veronika[/name_f].

These are my favourites from your list.

[name_f]Guinevere[/name_f] is No 1 as it has charisma in bucket loads
[name_f]Melusine[/name_f] has a sweet, lovely flow
[name_f]Cassandra[/name_f] one of my faves ever
Ostara name for a [name_f]Spring[/name_f] time baby

Gwenllian ([name_f]One[/name_f] of us loves this more than the other)
[name_f]Isis[/name_f] (We can’t have an [name_f]Isis[/name_f] and a [name_f]Cleo[/name_f], nor an [name_f]Isis[/name_f] and an [name_f]Isolde[/name_f])
[name_f]Isolde[/name_f] (can’t have [name_f]Isis[/name_f] and [name_f]Isolde[/name_f], we’re in disagreement)

My favourites:
[name_f]Artemisia[/name_f] (I’m so glad you’ve put her on your list)
[name_f]Cleopatra[/name_f]
Galadriel
[name_f]Morgana[/name_f]
[name_f]Olympia[/name_f]
Silmarien
Tinuviel (kinda cutesy, but with a great literate history to back her up)
Undomiel (I have only ever considered this as a middle, but I also secretly love it as a first name)
[name_f]Zenobia[/name_f]

If it’s between [name_f]Cleopatra[/name_f] and [name_f]Zenobia[/name_f] sobs, then my vote would go to [name_f]Zenobia[/name_f]. [name_m]Both[/name_m] were wonderful, strong ladies and I love them both dearly, I do think that the female conqueror throughout history was [name_f]Zenobia[/name_f] of [name_f]Palmyra[/name_f], and to me, that makes her superior to all of the other great ancient Queens (including [name_f]Cleopatra[/name_f], [name_f]Artemisia[/name_f] etc.). I still really love [name_f]Cleopatra[/name_f] though, she was a very wise woman who perfectly knew that it was too unrealistic for [name_u]Egypt[/name_u] to defeat [name_m]Rome[/name_m], and therefore she worked within [name_m]Rome[/name_m]'s power structure and thereby giving advance to herself, her family and her people. I also think that [name_f]Cleopatra[/name_f] is picture perfect with [name_f]Aphrodite[/name_f] (just sat for a while and gushed over the beauty of the paring of [name_f]Aphrodite[/name_f] and [name_f]Cleopatra[/name_f]).

Suggestions:
[name_m]Alv[/name_m]í
”sta
Bergdís
[name_f]Dagmar[/name_f] (the birth name of [name_f]Maria[/name_f] Feodorovna, the very beloved mother of Tsar [name_m]Nicholas[/name_m] II, who, contrary to her son and daughter-in-law, was very popular among the Russian people)
Dís
[name_f]Ellisif[/name_f] (IIRC, Norway has actually had a [name_f]Queen[/name_f] consort named [name_f]Ellisif[/name_f], I don’t know anything about her history though)
Eydís
Eyja
Gísla
Herdís
Jord (or Jörð/Fjorgyn/Hlodyn; the personification of [name_f]Earth[/name_f] and the mother of [name_m]Thor[/name_m] in the Norse Mythology)
[name_f]Josephine[/name_f] (or [name_f]Josefina[/name_f]/[name_f]Josefine[/name_f] to make it more Scandinavian (or Swedish, whatever); after [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] of Leuchtenberg, wife of [name_m]Oscar[/name_m] I of [name_u]Sweden[/name_u], who I like to refer to as the Scandinavian [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] of [name_m]Aragon[/name_m]. She basically could have led the country more successfully than her husband, if she had been given the opportunity)
Katla (I know Katla is a volcano in Iceland and the dragon in Nangijala, but it’s such a lovely name)
Rǫskva
Sága
Signý
Valdís
Wu Zetian (the only female in Chinese history who has ruled as an emperor - and her rule was successful)

My favorites are [name_f]Isis[/name_f], [name_f]Isolde[/name_f], and [name_f]Morgana[/name_f].

Other ideas…
[name_f]Isannah[/name_f]
[name_f]Zelda[/name_f]

My daughter’s name is [name_f]Phaedra[/name_f], in Greek mythology she is the daughter of [name_m]King[/name_m] Minos and her sister (in myth) is [name_f]Ariadne[/name_f].

The other names that came to mind are the literary characters [name_f]Trilby[/name_f] and Fiametta. As well as Solveig (SOLE-vay)

good luck!

I’m correcting pronunciations in Rollos post.

[name_f]Zenaide[/name_f] – zen-AY-dee
Tarentia – tah-[name_u]REN[/name_u]-tee-ah
Terpsichore – TERP-see-COR-ee

And just from my bit of Cherokee my grandmother taught me:

Angeni – awn-jeh-nee
Kachina – kah-tshee-nah – CH is pronounced like TS in Cherokee.

I might be wrong on the Native American names because Cherokee and other native languages are hard to translate right.

As a rule, the vowels are like this:

a, as a in father, or short as a in rival
e, as a in hate, or short as e in met
i, as i in police, or short as i in pit
o, as o in note, approaching aw as in law
u, as oo in fool, or short as u in pull
v, as u in but, nasalized
ai, as the i in ice

The Cherokee language uses the following English consonants: d g h k l m n q s t w.
The following English consonants do not exist in the Cherokee language: b f p r t v x z.

So like Nektosha would be nek-doe-sha, Misun is me-soon, Meli (the Cherokee version of Mary) is may-lee, Atian is ah-tee-ahn etc

I could do a whole big post on Cherokee and other Native languages. The other half of me is Cherokee. So I’ll stop >.<

Alright, let me try to help you cut down your current list and then I’ll make some suggestions to confuse you even further

This vs. That:
Boadicea vs. Bradamante: I say this round goes to Boadicea. I prefer her to [name_f]Boudicca[/name_f] and Bradamante is still totally masculine to me (though I know you love her). Perhaps you can use Bradamante as a middle? She goes very well with many of your names, in my opinion.
[name_f]Cleopatra[/name_f] vs. [name_f]Isis[/name_f]: I still say [name_f]Cleo[/name_f]. While I’ve come around to [name_f]Isis[/name_f] and agree she’s a short name that packs a punch, [name_f]Cleo[/name_f] is so dramatic and wonderful that I can’t resist!
[name_f]Cleopatra[/name_f] vs. [name_f]Zenobia[/name_f]: Ooh, tough one. A&Z would be super cute - DitaRoo and ZennaBee! However, I still love [name_f]Cleo[/name_f] so much. I feel like she has a slight edge over [name_f]Zenobia[/name_f] for me.
[name_f]Isis[/name_f] vs. [name_f]Isolde[/name_f]: [name_f]Isolde[/name_f]. [name_f]Isolde[/name_f] all the way. Doesn’t matter though, I’ve already vetoed [name_f]Isis[/name_f] in the [name_f]Cleopatra[/name_f] pairing (I feel like I’m watching a boxing match right now).
Nimue vs. Niniane: I’m still championing (did I just make up a verb?) Nimue. [name_f]Love[/name_f] the ethereal, flowing sound.
[name_f]Guinevere[/name_f] vs. Gwenllian: I think you can probably use [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f] & [name_f]Morgana[/name_f]; while it’s not an ideal sibling pair, I don’t think it’s terrible. And the fact that you say you both love it is encouraging! Of the G’s, I do think I prefer [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f].

Veto with [name_f]Morgana[/name_f] as a sister:
[name_f]Yavanna[/name_f]: I don’t think that they’re exactly alike, but I do think they’re a little too similar to be sisters. [name_m]Say[/name_m] it aloud: [name_f]Aphrodite[/name_f], [name_f]Morgana[/name_f] and [name_f]Yavanna[/name_f]. I feel like [name_f]Dita[/name_f] might be the odd one out.
Bellicent: I did a quick bit of internet research on her, and I agree with Husband that you should veto if you prefer [name_f]Morgana[/name_f]. Also, I’m sorry but I still see a smoosh of [name_f]Belle[/name_f] & [name_f]Millicent[/name_f]. Sorry sorry!

Veto for other reasons:
[name_f]Circe[/name_f]: I agree that she works better in the middle.
Tinuviel: Well, I think that’s a weird thing to worry about, because how on earth can a name be too cute? Haha, but in all honesty I don’t love this one as much as some of your others. I think [name_f]Aphrodite[/name_f] and Tinuviel might be a bit mismatched.

Names still on my list for you:
[name_f]Olympia[/name_f]: Why save her for a future child when you can use her for this one? I love [name_f]Olympia[/name_f]! I think she’s perfect with [name_f]Aphrodite[/name_f]. Though I do see that it might lock you into a bit of a Greek theme.
Boadicea: While this is not my favorite, it’s quite pretty and has lots of cute nickname options.
[name_f]Cleopatra[/name_f]: [name_f]Love[/name_f] love love! Perfect with [name_f]Aphrodite[/name_f] and perfect nickname of [name_f]Cleo[/name_f]!
[name_f]Isolde[/name_f]: I absolutely adore this one too. Your pronunciation of it is the most beautiful [name_f]IMO[/name_f] and I just think it’s wonderful.
Nimue: [name_f]Love[/name_f] the namesake and love the sound.
[name_f]Guinevere[/name_f]: Stately, regal, and beautiful.

My top five (in no particular order) of your old faves: [name_f]Morgana[/name_f], [name_f]Olympia[/name_f], [name_f]Isolde[/name_f], [name_f]Cleopatra[/name_f], [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f]

Now for opinions on your new additions. I’m just going to be very straightforward with you:
[name_f]Angharad[/name_f]: I’m sorry but it sounds harsh to me. I also don’t like the idea of having two A first initials (as well as yours, correct? Is Husband an A as well?) However, I love the meaning (most love if I’m not mistake). Perhaps as a middle.
[name_f]Artemisia[/name_f]: Again with the A thing, as well as the [name_u]Artemis[/name_u]-[name_f]Aphrodite[/name_f] connection. I’d nix this one, though I think it’s a gorgeous name.
[name_f]Atalanta[/name_f]: I feel like it’ll be misread as [name_f]Atlanta[/name_f] a lot, and the A initial again - but if it doesn’t bother you, then don’t worry about it! Beyond that, I think it’s quite pretty. Middle maybe?
Belphoebe: This has been a favorite for quite a while, yes? While I think it’s very beautiful, I do think there’s an excellent chance of it being shortened to either [name_f]Belle[/name_f] or [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f], both relatively “common” names. Provided that possibility doesn’t bother you, I say go for it.
[name_f]Callisto[/name_f]: Gorgeous! That is all.
[name_f]Cassandra[/name_f]: I think this one is beautiful as well. Does the fact that it’s more popular bother you? Perhaps better suited to her normal middle?
Coventina: I just see coven and then I think of vampires. You’ll have to give me the pronunciation of this one, for I’m unfamiliar with it. But as I’m pronouncing it right now, I’d veto it.
Daronwy: Spelling looks awkward and masculine to me. However, I did a quick search and it looks to have a good namesake. You really know your stuff as far as mythology & literature are concerned, don’t you? I’m quite impressed!
Elbereth/Elentari: I think I prefer Elentari. [name_m]Both[/name_m], however, are very pretty names. I don’t know if I love how either looks in a sibset with [name_f]Aphrodite[/name_f] though. I think I might like both better as middles.
Galadriel: I know who the LOTR namesake is, but I still see [name_m]Gabriel[/name_m]. I don’t know why, I just do! I wish I loved it :frowning: Maybe a middle? It is VERY [name_m]Lord[/name_m] of the Rings.
Hespera: I do think it’s beautiful, but it will be just as nice as a middle for [name_f]Morgana[/name_f]. If your husband doesn’t love it and you can’t convince him to, I wouldn’t push it. Not worth the headache!
[name_f]Inanna[/name_f]: I’m indifferent to this one. [name_m]Don[/name_m]'t love it, don’t hate it.
[name_f]Isabella[/name_f]: AHHHHHH OMG [name_f]LOVE[/name_f]! [name_f]Love[/name_f] love love love love. I have always loved the name [name_f]Isabella[/name_f]. It’s been my number one name since looooong before Twilight and I’m trying so hard not to let the popularity bother me. I think [name_f]Aphrodite[/name_f] and [name_f]Isabella[/name_f] are adorable together. However, I’m worried about the popularity gap and whether they will be jealous of one another’s names. It does sound rather tame next to [name_f]Dita[/name_f].
Laudine: I like it but don’t love it. Maybe middle?
[name_f]Melusine[/name_f]: Ooooh, very pretty. I wouldn’t let the Starbucks logo bother you. Who knows that thing’s name anyways? Very slinky and slippery.
Nehalennia: Spelling looks awkward to me and pronunciation is not intuitive. I’d nix it.
Ostara: We’ve just been out west and all I can think of is the beautiful star-filled sky we saw every night out there. It brings up a gorgeous picture in my mind! Though for some reason, I’m having trouble picturing it on an actual kid and adult.
[name_f]Pandora[/name_f]: So gorgeous! If you can’t get it for a first, try to put it in the middle.
Pulzella: I don’t love the sound, though [name_f]Zella[/name_f] would be a cool nickname.
[name_f]Rhiannon[/name_f]: Feels tame next to [name_f]Aphrodite[/name_f] (this from the girl swooning over [name_f]Isabella[/name_f], LOL)
Silmarien: Sounds too close to [name_u]Marian[/name_u] in [name_f]Aphrodite[/name_f]'s name.
[name_f]Titania[/name_f]: Very pretty.
Trephina: I just don’t like the sound or the vibe I’m getting. Who are you referencing here?
Undomiel: [name_m]Don[/name_m]'t love the sound. Veto.
Valkyrie: I do think of airplanes. I know you’re honoring Norse mythology, but I also think of airplanes.
[name_f]Veronika[/name_f]: Feels too normal (even though I was swooning over [name_f]Isabella[/name_f]. Yes, I’m aware that I am a hypocrite).

So, to wrap it up, I would keep these names from your new list: [name_f]Atalanta[/name_f], Belphoebe, [name_f]Callisto[/name_f], [name_f]Cassandra[/name_f], [name_f]Isabella[/name_f], [name_f]Melusine[/name_f], [name_f]Pandora[/name_f], and [name_f]Titania[/name_f]. The rest I would use as middles or veto (I marked the ones I would get rid of).

I can’t pick an overall top five! I’ll come back later with some suggestions and hopefully an overall top as it’s late here and this is a huge post!!

Oh, there are some really lovely new ones!

My favorites of the old:
[name_f]Guinevere[/name_f] - I [name_f]LOVE[/name_f] it, and it’s so good with [name_f]Aphrodite[/name_f], but if you’re certain you’ll have a [name_f]Morgana[/name_f] then I wouldn’t use this. (If I were choosing between [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f] and [name_f]Morgana[/name_f], though, I’d choose [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f]. Better with [name_f]Dita[/name_f], I think.)
Gwenllian - perhaps now my favorite of this list; she’s a balance of pragmatic and romantic, with a love of animals and the sea, and a remarkable green thumb. She’s understanding, soft sea-green-blue with a mist, a protector of the defenceless with a poetic heart.
[name_f]Isolde[/name_f]
Niniane

And of the new:
[name_f]Artemisia[/name_f] - oh I love this - she’s clever, an old soul, bookish like the ones who can read plotlines in life–on the edge of clairvoyant. Fiercely kindhearted, a steady adventurer, with a strong sense of herself.
[name_f]Atalanta[/name_f]
Galadriel
Hespera - you know I adore this with [name_f]Dita[/name_f]. I’m not even sure why I love it–it’s so far outside my usual style. But she’s golden and bright and insightful and reads books in trees, with a twinkle in her eye.
[name_f]Melusine[/name_f]/Melicien (how I first saw the name spelled)
[name_f]Titania[/name_f] - I love the idea of [name_f]Aphrodite[/name_f], [name_f]Titania[/name_f], and [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f]…3 very romantic, powerful women.

Congrats on finding out the gender! I admit I was hoping for a girl again, since I’m much more interested in girls’ names… Not exactly the best reason, is it? Either way, I hope the rest of your pregnancy goes well!

[name_m]Just[/name_m] a quick keep/go since I’ve commented on these before:

Keep:
Boadicea- not sure how it’s pronounced with this spelling, but love the name! (well I love [name_f]Boudicca[/name_f] :p)
[name_f]Cleopatra[/name_f]/[name_f]Zenobia[/name_f]: I know you said pick one but I really love them both! Why can’t there be two or more ancient queens? :frowning:
[name_f]Isolde[/name_f]
Nimue- prefer this over Niniane
[name_f]Olympia[/name_f]- true, a bit matchy with [name_f]Aphrodite[/name_f], but the perfect name is the perfect name! and what if you never have another daughter?

Go:
Bradamante
[name_f]Circe[/name_f]
[name_f]Guinevere[/name_f]- I would keep this myself even over [name_f]Morgana[/name_f], but wouldn’t use them both and given how much you love [name_f]Morgana[/name_f]…
Gwenllian
[name_f]Isis[/name_f]- if it rules out both [name_f]Cleo[/name_f] and [name_f]Isolde[/name_f]
Niniane
Tinuviel- kind of inclined to agree with your husband, sorry
[name_f]Yavanna[/name_f]

Comments on the new ones: (sorry if you’ve already heard my thoughts on some of these)

[name_f]Angharad[/name_f]- classy, strong, powerful but may cause pronunciation issues (not sure about [name_f]England[/name_f] but it definitely would here)
[name_f]Artemisia[/name_f]- also a strong and brave woman to look up to, but maybe too much with [name_f]Aphrodite[/name_f]?
[name_f]Atalanta[/name_f]- sleek, spunky, modern sound but lots of history. I love that line “[name_f]Atalanta[/name_f]'s better part” in As You Like It (I did have to look up the exact line)
Belphoebe- you know how much I love this  glad to see it’s back! magical yet wearable
[name_f]Callisto[/name_f]- as I’ve said before, I find this a bit too masculine
[name_f]Cassandra[/name_f]- fun, sassy and lively but feels too “normal” for you
Coventina- never seen this before, looks Italian? pretty and demure
Daronwy- not quite sure how to pronounce this
Elbereth/Elentari- both feel a bit too clunky for me
Galadriel- a bit too fantasylike to work in the real world, sorry… as a middle though maybe
Hespera- ooh, fingers crossed you can persuade him to use it as a first!
[name_f]Inanna[/name_f]- the 3 Ns and 2 As make this feel very repetitive- there are only 3 different letters in the name!
[name_f]Isabella[/name_f]- pretty, but too normal next to all these rare gems
Laudine- this sounds like it should be a [name_m]French[/name_m] luxury fashion/cosmetics brand to me
[name_f]Melusine[/name_f]- another gorgeous ethereal name I’m glad to see back on the list! (what happened to Melpomene?)
Nehalennia- not sure how to pronounce this. feels African for some reason
Ostara- exotic, unusual, feels somewhat celestial
[name_f]Pandora[/name_f]- cute but a bit too froufrou for me
Pulzella- has a harsh sound to me and seems like it may cause pronunciation issues
[name_f]Rhiannon[/name_f]- also a bit harsh and masculine for me
Silmarien- again, not sure of pronunciation
[name_f]Titania[/name_f]- very unique, magical and whimsical vibe but grounded and can hold her own
Trephina- pretty, unusual combination of sounds, feminine but not flimsy
Undomiel- interesting but could be hard to wear- would be great as a middle
Valkyrie- powerful and comes with a really interesting story/history
[name_f]Veronika[/name_f]- pretty and I like the Slavic spelling, but also seems a bit too familiar

Not that you need any more to think about, but my personal top 5 (well, 6):

Hespera
[name_f]Cleopatra[/name_f]/[name_f]Zenobia[/name_f] (I honestly can’t pick!)
Belphoebe
[name_f]Melusine[/name_f]
[name_f]Guinevere[/name_f]

Always so much fun to go through your lists, [name_f]Ottilie[/name_f]!
