A first name to suit the middle name Cleopatra?

Edit: I chose to add Helen Cleopatra to my signature. Thank you all for the plethora of fabulous names!

I don’t know the proper ettiquete concerning thread-making, so I hope that this isn’t excessive, since I have already made two threads since joining mere days ago. See, I really have no one to bounce ideas off of, or to get suggestions from, so the Berries are my only hope!

On that note, let’s get down to business! As you can see from my signature, I prefer unusual names, to say the least, but I will accept more “normal” names if they fit the image I’m looking for or if they flow well together. They don’t have to be quite as “out-there” as the names I have displayed are, just suggest what you think works.

I am searching for a first name that is slightly more wearable than [name_f]Cleo[/name_f]'s name is. With [name_f]Cleopatra[/name_f], I need a name that suits her equal parts spunkiness and regality. She’s sleek, exotic, and slightly dark. I need a first name that complements her, and that you feel has the same “vibes”. I hope this makes sense. I try not to get into “vibes” and how a name “feels”, since I know that asking for ‘names that give you “feelings” or “vibes”’ is probably annoyingly nonspecific, but I don’t know how else to put it.

I look forward to seeing what you can conjure up!

[name_f]Jade[/name_f] [name_f]Cleopatra[/name_f]
[name_f]Victoria[/name_f] [name_f]Cleopatra[/name_f]

[name_f]Helen[/name_f] [name_f]Cleopatra[/name_f]
[name_m]Isadore[/name_m] [name_f]Cleopatra[/name_f]

I adore [name_f]Helen[/name_f] [name_f]Cleopatra[/name_f], with [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] [name_f]Cleopatra[/name_f] following close behind. Fantastic suggestions. I especially love [name_f]Helen[/name_f] for [name_f]Helen[/name_f] of Sparta and for [name_f]Elaine[/name_f] of Astolat, the Lady of Shalott, among others.

I’m shamelessly bumping this thread. That’s allowed, right?

Phryne [name_f]Cleopatra[/name_f]

Oooh, goody, so many gorgeous suggestions to drool over! I legitimately squealed! Thank you all so, so much!

Stunning, inspired combination! So much strength in one name. Though, is it too figure-heavy? I don’t want her name to be too much to carry, and they’re both very prominent people ([name_f]Guinevere[/name_f] is a character, but you know what I mean.). But I do love it, though. Very, very much.

I’m veering slightly off topic here, but [name_f]Lilith[/name_f] is a night demon, is she not? I do not know exactly what being a night demon (or whatever being she was changed into) entails, on account of the fact that I’m not well-versed in Judaic legends, so I hope I’m not glorifying her slaying children or sacrificing people or something by saying this: I respect her for being true to herself and hightailing it out of [name_u]Eden[/name_u]. I love infamous, “dastardly” women. That being said, I’m about to go read about her after this, so that will determine if this name flies or not. I hope it does, as it is a divine combination.

Edit: I think it might be rather funny to name a baby after a demon that steals babies. Other than that, she’s a-okay. Jokes aside, it’s still a very pleasant name that I wish I could utilize. From what I can tell, the demonization of Lilith is essentially the demonization of women for not “submitting” to their husbands, and as such is blatant misogynistic propaganda. She didn’t do anything wrong by leaving Adam, because as a living being, she had a right to choose whether or not to do so. But the baby-stealing bit… Besides, I have the sneaking feeling that my mother would have a heart attack if I introduced a little Lilith Cleopatra to her! But it was, and still is, a smashing combination for someone more adventurous than I, and your taste is positively lovely.

Since I was a child, my mother has called me “[name_f]Flossie[/name_f]” for reasons unrelated to my name, so I would consider naming my child [name_f]Florence[/name_f] to indirectly honor her. [name_f]Florence[/name_f] [name_f]Cleopatra[/name_f] is one sassy little lady! Thank you oh so much.

[name_f]Selena[/name_f] [name_f]Cleopatra[/name_f] is so shimmery and elegant, I love her! [name_f]Lyra[/name_f] [name_f]Cleopatra[/name_f] is also very flattering. Thank you for the help!

[name_f]Rosalind[/name_f] [name_f]Cleopatra[/name_f] is quite epic and romantic, and [name_f]Rosie[/name_f] softens [name_f]Cleo[/name_f] up a teensy bit. They really do balance one another out nicely! Thank you!

You’re definitely on the right track! [name_f]Theia[/name_f] is on my list, so [name_f]Thea[/name_f] [name_f]Cleopatra[/name_f] is perfection.

Other names I fancy include [name_f]Artemisia[/name_f] [name_f]Cleopatra[/name_f] (Usable?), [name_f]Esther[/name_f] [name_f]Cleopatra[/name_f], [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f] [name_f]Cleopatra[/name_f], [name_f]Iseult[/name_f] [name_f]Cleopatra[/name_f], [name_f]Julia[/name_f] [name_f]Cleopatra[/name_f], and [name_f]Minerva[/name_f] [name_f]Cleopatra[/name_f] (Usable?). [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] [name_f]Cleopatra[/name_f] worries me due to the popularity bit, but I won’t be having children for at least seven-ish more years, so we’ll see what happens.

Sadly now, I can’t use [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f] or [name_f]Yvaine[/name_f] with [name_f]Cleo[/name_f], even though I love them, and [name_f]Apolline[/name_f] either sounds like “appalling” or “apple-een” in my awful Midwestern accent. But they were awesome names, so thank you!

Phryne was such an AMAZING and outlandish woman, and I rather think that the meaning “toad” is darling instead of off-putting. Coincidentally, I am so in love with the gorgeous and clever Phryne [name_m]Fisher[/name_m] as of late, so thank you for the very fitting suggestion! You hit the nail on the head!

I appreciate all of you and your lovely names! I hope everyone is having a wonderful day or night!

I had [name_u]Vivien[/name_u] [name_f]Cleopatra[/name_f] on my shortlist

Wonderful combinations, thank you!

[name_u]Wren[/name_u] [name_f]Cleopatra[/name_f]
[name_m]Pheonix[/name_m] [name_f]Cleopatra[/name_f]

[name_f]Calliope[/name_f] [name_f]Cleopatra[/name_f] is so spunky and youthful, and I really dig the alliteration! I also love the exotic vibes I get from [name_f]Ines[/name_f] [name_f]Cleopatra[/name_f] and [name_u]Roma[/name_u] [name_f]Cleopatra[/name_f], and [name_u]Wren[/name_u] [name_f]Cleopatra[/name_f] is striking! A very punchy combination. Thank you so, so much!

[name_f]Blanca[/name_f] [name_f]Cleopatra[/name_f]

[name_f]Gaia[/name_f] [name_f]Cleopatra[/name_f] is dreamy! I also am fond of [name_f]Eve[/name_f] [name_f]Cleopatra[/name_f], and [name_f]Oona[/name_f]/[name_f]Una[/name_f] [name_f]Cleopatra[/name_f]. Amazing suggestions.

Those are my feelings, that the vilification of [name_f]Lilith[/name_f] is all misogyny. I love the name and if I could find the right combo would use it myself.

And that would be such a sweet connection to [name_f]Florence[/name_f].

So many great names have been suggested in this thread!

(I’m derailing the thread here, but I wanted to reply nevertheless, so I hope that this doesn’t annoy anyone. )

All too often, many great historical and mythological women are misinterpreted and demonized, and thus their names carry a stigma. It’s unfortunate, but that’s reality, so I normally disregard the negative baggage that comes with some of these “evil” women’s names. My only qualm with the name [name_f]Lilith[/name_f] is my religious mother’s (likely) strong aversion to it, otherwise it would already be on my list, as it is very usable. I wouldn’t care if someone thought that I named my daughter after a “demon”…unless that someone is my mother, if that makes any sense! I just wanted to say that if you ever make a thread to find combination ideas, I’ll try my best to helpfully contribute. I think [name_f]Lilith[/name_f] would be lovely paired with [name_m]Archimedes[/name_m], and you’re a much braver “namer” than I am, and have spectacular taste!
