[name_m]Hi[/name_m] berries.
I’m finally having a girl and am in shock. I’ve only allowed myself to think of boy names so I wouldn’t get my hopes up, and now I’m at a loss. Our boys are [name_m]Leo[/name_m], [name_u]Owen[/name_u], and [name_m]Cole[/name_m]. We’d like our girl’s name to include an O too so she’s not left out. Our last name is 2 syllables and ends in “wood”.
[name_f]Violet[/name_f] and [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] are family names that would be nice to honor loved ones. I kind of like them but am not sure I love them. Maybe they’d be nice in the middle name spot. I love [name_f]Chloe[/name_f] but it’s similar to [name_m]Cole[/name_m] and so popular… Please help me with ideas!
[name_u]Love[/name_u] the suggestions of [name_f]Fiona[/name_f], [name_f]Cora[/name_f], [name_f]Caroline[/name_f], [name_f]Rose[/name_f] and [name_f]Olive[/name_f].
More O names:
[name_f]Aurora[/name_f]
[name_u]Eloise[/name_u]
[name_f]Harlow[/name_f]
[name_f]Joanna[/name_f]
[name_f]Lorelei[/name_f]
[name_f]Molly[/name_f]
[name_f]Naomi[/name_f]
[name_f]Sophie[/name_f] (though you might be put off by the popularity of [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] and [name_f]Sofia[/name_f])
I second [name_f]Lola[/name_f], [name_f]Willow[/name_f], [name_u]Eloise[/name_u], [name_f]Norah[/name_f] and [name_f]Gwen[/name_f] ([name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f]) from previous posters. I also really like [name_f]Violet[/name_f] with your boys names.
Some more ideas (sorry for repeats)
[name_f]Juno[/name_f]
[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f]
[name_f]Fiorella[/name_f]
[name_f]Luella[/name_f]
[name_f]Melora[/name_f]
[name_f]Coralie[/name_f]
[name_f]Penelope[/name_f]
[name_f]Louisa[/name_f]
[name_f]Polly[/name_f]
[name_f]Verona[/name_f]
[name_f]Sonia[/name_f]
[name_f]Liora[/name_f], [name_f]Eliora[/name_f]
[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]
[name_u]Emory[/name_u]
[name_u]Romy[/name_u], [name_u]Rory[/name_u]
[name_f]Lorelei[/name_f]
[name_m]Leo[/name_m], [name_u]Owen[/name_u], [name_m]Cole[/name_m] and…
[name_f]Nola[/name_f] (less popular than [name_f]Nora[/name_f])
[name_f]Fiona[/name_f] (fits with the Irish heritage of the name [name_u]Owen[/name_u])
[name_f]Viola[/name_f] (if you don’t love [name_f]Violet[/name_f], try less-popular, but in my opinion prettier [name_f]Viola[/name_f] to honour your family)
[name_f]Zoey[/name_f]/[name_f]Posey[/name_f] (both rhyme with [name_f]Chloe[/name_f] but are way less popular)
In my opinion, [name_m]Leo[/name_m], [name_u]Owen[/name_u], [name_m]Cole[/name_m] and [name_f]Viola[/name_f] seems like an adorable sibset
Good luck with finding the perfect name for your little girl
Thanks for the suggestions everyone! I love [name_f]Lola[/name_f] and [name_f]Olive[/name_f], but alas, they are the names of our cats”.
So far, I’m liking
[name_f]Nora/name_f
[name_f]Fiona[/name_f] (but dislike shrek association)
[name_f]Lorelei[/name_f] (feel like doesn’t fit with boys, though?)
[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f]
[name_u]Brooke[/name_u]
And kind of like [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f], [name_f]Elodie[/name_f], and [name_f]Zoe[/name_f]. I sadly can’t use [name_f]Willow[/name_f], [name_f]Sonia[/name_f], or [name_f]Elouise[/name_f] bc of kiddos of friends/family
I like [name_f]Nora[/name_f], [name_f]Lorelei[/name_f], [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f], and [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] from your short list. [name_f]Nora[/name_f] is short and sweet like your boys’ names but I don’t think you need to have exactly the same style since she will be a different gender! You could always use a nickname like
[name_f]Lorelei[/name_f]- [name_f]Lore[/name_f] (look up the [name_m]German[/name_m] pronounciation of this, it’s so pretty!), [name_f]Lila[/name_f], [name_u]Rory[/name_u]
[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f]- [name_f]Rosa[/name_f], [name_f]Rose[/name_f], [name_f]Lila[/name_f]
[name_f]Elodie[/name_f]- [name_f]Elle[/name_f], Lodie, [name_f]Lola[/name_f]
[name_f]Isobel[/name_f]
[name_f]Flora[/name_f]
[name_f]Polly[/name_f]
[name_f]Cora[/name_f]
[name_f]Dolly[/name_f] / [name_f]Dolley[/name_f]
[name_f]Gloria[/name_f]
[name_f]Noelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Holly[/name_f]
[name_f]Zoey[/name_f]
[name_f]Joy[/name_f]
[name_u]Jodie[/name_u]
[name_f]Caroline[/name_f]
[name_f]Carolyn[/name_f]
[name_f]Mollie[/name_f]( I don’t know why but I like ie over y on this one)
I second the suggestions of [name_f]Rowena[/name_f] and [name_f]Hope[/name_f]. I like [name_f]Nora[/name_f] with the boys’ names but it does not have the same long O vowel sound. I agree that [name_f]Nola[/name_f] might be a better choice. In addition, I’d like to suggest the names [name_f]Antonia[/name_f], [name_f]Cleo[/name_f] and [name_f]Cosette[/name_f]. I don’t think they have been mentioned yet and they do have the long O vowel sound. Good luck with your decision.
What do you all think of [name_f]Caroline[/name_f], nickname [name_f]Callie[/name_f] or [name_f]Coco[/name_f] (I want to avoid [name_f]Carol[/name_f] or [name_f]Carrie[/name_f], but don’t know if these are a stretch). It also turns out my husband loves [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f], but I dislike rose, rosa, and [name_f]Rosie[/name_f]. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you think [name_f]Lia[/name_f] could work? I still love [name_f]Fiona[/name_f] but am afraid she’ll be associated with an ogre and teased…
Husband vetoed [name_f]Nora[/name_f]. Maybe we should honor both grandmas and go with [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f]. This is turning out to be harder than I thought! Thanks for your ideas!
I think [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f] would be very nice, especially if it honors both grandmas. The up side is that [name_f]Gwen[/name_f] is a short name and style-wise I think it fits with [name_m]Leo[/name_m], [name_u]Owen[/name_u] and [name_m]Cole[/name_m]. The down side is that the shortened name does not have the long O sound. [name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_f]Margot[/name_f] or [name_f]Margo[/name_f]? [name_m]Leo[/name_m], [name_u]Owen[/name_u], [name_m]Cole[/name_m] and [name_f]Margot[/name_f]. I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] this name with the others. It has the O sound. It does not repeat a first letter. It is another two syllable name to balance [name_u]Owen[/name_u]. Style-wise I think it fits. Name popularity-wise I think it hits the mark. [name_f]Margot[/name_f] [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] would be my choice.
I see no problem with [name_f]Coco[/name_f] or [name_f]Callie[/name_f] for [name_f]Caroline[/name_f]. [name_f]Coco[/name_f] in particular could be taken from [name_f]Caroline[/name_f].
Think of names you really wonder , how did they get [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] from [name_f]Margaret[/name_f]?! So there is room there
[name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f] or even [name_f]Violet[/name_f] [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] would be pretty.
