Hello! My name is [name_f]Summer[/name_f]. For many years, I have gotten compliments from people about my first name. My parents named me [name_f]Summer[/name_f] because it’s their favorite season and I was born during [name_f]Summer[/name_f]. I have met other kids with seasonal names. I’ve met a [name_u]Winter[/name_u], an [name_f]Autumn[/name_f], and a few other [name_f]Summers[/name_f]. But I’ve never met a girl named [name_f]Spring[/name_f]. I wonder why people don’t use it as much as the other seasons…Anyways, I have a few questions to ask. BTW, I am not expecting a child anytime soon. I’m still in high school!
Is the name [name_f]Spring[/name_f] usable?
Have you met a girl named [name_f]Spring[/name_f]?
What is your favorite seasonal name?
What are some middle names that go well with [name_f]Spring[/name_f]?
I think [name_f]Spring[/name_f] is used much less simply because it has more than one meaning. It’s a season, a coiled bit of metal/plastic, a verb… [name_f]Summer[/name_f], [name_f]Autumn[/name_f] and [name_u]Winter[/name_u] are only seasons which is probably why they are used more, my personal favourite being [name_f]Autumn[/name_f]. Personally I wouldn’t use [name_f]Spring[/name_f] but here are some combos I thought might suit:
I think PP has nailed it. [name_f]Spring[/name_f] means many things. I personally wouldn’t want to be named [name_f]Spring[/name_f]. Maybe a nickname, like [name_f]Spring[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] or something? But not for a first name. Are you thinking about using it for a child? I’d almost rather see it on a boy.
Good questions though. It’s like the months of the year - [name_f]April[/name_f], [name_f]May[/name_f], [name_u]June[/name_u], [name_u]August[/name_u] have become so mainstream they’ve almost shed their month association. The rest are occasionally heard except February and [name_u]March[/name_u]. Actually [name_u]March[/name_u] might make a cool boy name.
There’s a song by [name_f]Tanya[/name_f] [name_m]Tucker[/name_m] about a girl named [name_f]Spring[/name_f]. In Spanish, [name_f]Spring[/name_f] is [name_f]Primavera[/name_f] which I’ve heard on a person before.
Is the name [name_f]Spring[/name_f] usable? It would have to mean something to the parents.
Have you met a girl named [name_f]Spring[/name_f]? No
What is your favorite seasonal name? [name_f]Autumn[/name_f], but I don’t really like any of them.
What are some middle names that go well with [name_f]Spring[/name_f]? [name_f]Spring[/name_f] [name_f]Veronica[/name_f], [name_f]Spring[/name_f] [name_u]Madison[/name_u]
As some others have said, maybe it isn’t used often because it can be many things. I have never met a girl named [name_f]Spring[/name_f], although I have met a man that goes by the nickname [name_f]Spring[/name_f], so to me it seems unisex.
Is the name [name_f]Spring[/name_f] usable? I really don’t like it, but it’s usable.
Have you met a girl named [name_f]Spring[/name_f]? Yes I have.
What is your favorite seasonal name? I don’t like seasonal names at all.
What are some middle names that go well with [name_f]Spring[/name_f]? I think you need to be careful not to use floral names ex. [name_f]Rose[/name_f] because then it just sounds like a flower and not someone’s name. Other than that, I think you’re pretty free to do what you want.
I personally don’t think it’s usable. Like others have said, the word “spring” has multiple meanings that don’t necessarily translate well to being used as a name, whereas the others are only seasons. However, people name their kids all kinds of crazy things these days, so maybe…
No, I haven’t.
I don’t really care for any of them, but if I had to choose I’d pick [name_f]Autumn[/name_f]. It’s my favorite season.
No specific combos come to mind for me, but I would definitely suggest going with something more traditional with such an unusual first name, and stay away from other word names.
Is the name [name_f]Spring[/name_f] usable? Yes, I think it’s kinda cute, although I’m not sure what I would think of a [name_f]Summer[/name_f] with a daughter named [name_f]Spring[/name_f].
Have you met a girl named [name_f]Spring[/name_f]? Yes, I knew one in high school. In fact, she’s the only person I’ve ever met with a “season” name, so I was actually rather surprised to discover it was so rare.
What is your favorite seasonal name? [name_u]Winter[/name_u], because it’s also my favorite season.
What are some middle names that go well with [name_f]Spring[/name_f]? Well, the [name_f]Spring[/name_f] I knew had a Japanese middle name (she was Japanese-American), which I thought worked really nicely. I also like: [name_f]Spring[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], [name_f]Spring[/name_f] [name_f]Victoria[/name_f], [name_f]Spring[/name_f] [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f], [name_f]Spring[/name_f] [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f]/[name_f]Magdalena[/name_f], [name_f]Spring[/name_f] [name_f]Emilia[/name_f], [name_f]Spring[/name_f] [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f]… Basically, I think most classic 3+ syllable names work great with [name_f]Spring[/name_f]. I would definitely avoid another word name, though!
I think ‘[name_f]Spring[/name_f]’ is the only season that’s en vogue here for girls, but then in Dutch: Lente, or spelled Lenthe because -the is cool or something…
I actually kind of like seasonal names in English, we do happen to have the same word for [name_u]Winter[/name_u] and that also happens to be my top favourite seasonal name but I would never use it. For me, it’d go straight to my GP list, but I’m happy to suggest it for others really.
