A Girl Named Stevie

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] Berries,

I am suddenly in love with [name_u]Stevie[/name_u] for a girl, I think it is super cute for a little and kind of cool and sophisticated for a woman.

What do you think?

Any ideas for combos, something feminine enough to bring [name_u]Stevie[/name_u] firmly into girl territory.

[name_f]Do[/name_f] you think [name_u]Stevie[/name_u] works better as a first or middle name?

Any ideas for more feminine names that could get to nickname [name_u]Stevie[/name_u] (besides [name_f]Stephanie[/name_f])?

Thanks!

I love [name_u]Stevie[/name_u]! Mostly because I associate it with [name_u]Stevie[/name_u] Nicks and she is sooooo cool!
I think it works as a first name. It’s cute and spunky.
I am terrible at combos so I’ll leave that to the experts…

I like the connection to [name_u]Stevie[/name_u] Nicks, but I’m personally not a fan of the name [name_u]Stevie[/name_u]. I can see it as a cute spunky nickname for something fuller and more feminine though! Unfortunately [name_u]Stevie[/name_u] is pretty tied to the [name_f]Stephanie[/name_f] variants. Stevanna is the only one that I could see fitting in with the rest of your list.

My favorite unrelated-to-[name_m]Stephen[/name_m] suggestion would be [name_f]Svetlana[/name_f]! I feel like she’d need a quirky word name middle to fit in with your list.
[name_f]Svetlana[/name_f] [name_u]Wren[/name_u]
[name_f]Svetlana[/name_f] [name_f]Plum[/name_f]
[name_f]Svetlana[/name_f] [name_u]Day[/name_u]
[name_f]Svetlana[/name_f] [name_f]Clover[/name_f]
[name_f]Svetlana[/name_f] Dare (as in [name_f]Virginia[/name_f] Dare)
[name_f]Svetlana[/name_f] [name_f]Maple[/name_f]
[name_f]Svetlana[/name_f] [name_u]True[/name_u]
[name_f]Svetlana[/name_f] [name_u]Piper[/name_u] (This one might be my favorite. It has that same mix of softly feminine and spiritedly spunky that makes up the rest of your list!)

Another idea would be to use [name_u]Stevie[/name_u] as a smoosh nickname for combos that contain the same sounds. For example:
[name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_f]Eve[/name_f]
[name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_f]Reverie[/name_f]
[name_u]Story[/name_u] [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u]
[name_u]Story[/name_u] [name_u]Everly[/name_u]
[name_u]Story[/name_u] [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f]

And if you want to get REALLY offbeat, there’s the Stevia plant, which is used as a sugar replacement because of the sweetness of its juice. Or the Tolkien name, Evenstar.

Good luck! This was fun

[name_m]How[/name_m] about using [name_f]Stella[/name_f] and a ‘v’ middle name? [name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_u]Vivian[/name_u], [name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_f]Verity[/name_f], [name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_u]Valentine[/name_u]

I know a [name_u]Stevie[/name_u] in real life. She is naturally a larger sized woman. She was the manager at a gym and everyone assumed she was a man. “No, i wanted to speak with [name_u]Stevie[/name_u].” “You are speaking with [name_u]Stevie[/name_u], I am her.” was not uncommon a thing to hear.

I like the suggestion of using [name_u]Stevie[/name_u] as a nickname for [name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_f]Eve[/name_f] or something similar. I don’t like it as a full name. My boyfriend’s name is [name_m]Steven[/name_m]. I’ve never liked the name [name_m]Steven[/name_m] but, strangely, I’ve always kind of liked the nickname [name_u]Stevie[/name_u] for a girl…! Now, I sometimes imagine that our daughter will turn out exactly like him and that I’ll end up calling her [name_u]Stevie[/name_u] occasionally, regardless of the name we actually give her.

I love the suggestions you’ve been given so far; another possibility is to give her a name like

[name_f]Eve[/name_f]

Or another name with the ‘eve’ sound in it ([name_f]Yvette[/name_f], [name_f]Yvonne[/name_f], [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] pronounced with a long e - I know, I know that’s not ‘proper’, but you get the idea) Then call her [name_u]Stevie[/name_u]. I don’t think that’s such a stretch. I mean, [name_u]Stevie[/name_u] sounds nothing like [name_f]Stephanie[/name_f] anyhow.

I have always thought of [name_u]Stevie[/name_u] as being very feminine with the -ie ending. However, I do associate this primarily with [name_u]Stevie[/name_u] from the television show [name_f]Miranda[/name_f]. She’s a hilarious actress.
I know a [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] nicknamed [name_u]Stevie[/name_u]. And if you don’t like that, there are always the variations of [name_f]Silveria[/name_f]/Sylveria and [name_f]Silvaine[/name_f]/[name_f]Sylvaine[/name_f]. [name_f]Stella[/name_f] is not my favorite, and neither is [name_f]Stephanie[/name_f], but I like [name_f]Salviane[/name_f]. [name_f]Sevastiane[/name_f]/Sevastiene is a female version of [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] that could easily reach [name_u]Stevie[/name_u]. There’s also [name_f]Shiva[/name_f]/[name_f]Shivani[/name_f], but that can mean death, so perhaps not. I really hope this helps!

I know one [name_u]Stevie[/name_u] she’s the mum of a friend. I see it is an older name because I see it as a mum name. It has worked well for her throughout her life her lack of a formal name hasn’t done anything she’s a nurse. (Should be noted that the name on her birth certificate is [name_m]Steve[/name_m])

Can I just say that I love your boy’s list, OP?
[name_u]Stevie[/name_u] is actually really cute, now that I think about it! It doesn’t feel like the [name_u]Billie[/name_u]/[name_u]Bobbie[/name_u]/[name_m]Tommie[/name_m] names of yore, if that’s a concern. I think if you give her a strong feminine middle, it can stand alone.

I know an adult [name_u]Stevie[/name_u], she was born during the height of the [name_f]Stephanie[/name_f] craze.
I think it is a fine first name and If you want to use a full name, I nominate [name_f]Svetlana[/name_f], but [name_u]Stevie[/name_u] is fine on its own.

If it wasn’t for [name_u]Stevie[/name_u] Nicks, I wouldn’t like [name_u]Stevie[/name_u] for a girl. But with the [name_u]Stevie[/name_u] Nicks association I picture an edgy and spunky girl who is named [name_u]Stevie[/name_u].

And the first thing I thought of for a middle name option for [name_u]Stevie[/name_u] is [name_f]Nyx[/name_f].

[name_u]Stevie[/name_u] Nicks does make it cool  Personally, I’d prefer the FN + MN = [name_u]Stevie[/name_u] idea, especially if it were my name. I don’t think everyone could pull [name_u]Stevie[/name_u] off as the full, given FN. I know I couldn’t.

I like [name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_f]Eve[/name_f].

[name_f]Stacia[/name_f] [name_f]Eve[/name_f], Ostara [name_f]Eve[/name_f]?

[name_f]Sunniva[/name_f] might work too… and [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f]/[name_f]Sylvana[/name_f] is always lovely.

Possible names: [name_f]Stavra[/name_f], Stav, Santavia, Sativa, [name_f]Gustava[/name_f], Salvatrix, Silvestra, Sevita, [name_f]Sylvette[/name_f].

I think [name_u]Stevie[/name_u] is fine on it’s own if you can’t find a name you like.

I know a [name_u]Stevie[/name_u] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f]. She is about 21 right now, and so far the name has grown with her. I think her name combo is great.

Haha, yeah, I love both the character and the actress.

The only [name_u]Stevie[/name_u] I know in real life is [name_f]Stephanie[/name_f] nn [name_u]Stevie[/name_u], but she’s exclusively [name_u]Stevie[/name_u]. I do like the [name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_f]Eve[/name_f] type smoosh idea - though on the same token, I guess it depends where you live - in the UK [name_f]Evie[/name_f] as a given name is mega popular and [name_u]Stevie[/name_u] as a given name could be seen as a slight twist on that.

Thanks everyone for the excellent suggestions and feedback! So helpful!!

I have a best friend named [name_u]Stevie[/name_u] [name_u]Lynn[/name_u]. I like it for a girl. I wouldn’t use it myself but I like it!

[name_u]Stevie[/name_u] is a cute nickname, but I wouldn’t use it as a stand-alone first name. [name_m]Even[/name_m] [name_u]Stevie[/name_u] Nicks’ real first name is [name_f]Stephanie[/name_f].

By the way, I [name_f]LOVE[/name_f] the show [name_f]Miranda[/name_f]!

My sister and I really love [name_u]Stevie[/name_u]! We were just talking about it a couple weeks ago. I don’t know where she heard it, but she’s massively in love with it. I heard it most when one of my former favorite singers adopted a little Chinese girl and named her [name_u]Stevie[/name_u] [name_f]Joy[/name_f]. I think she went by [name_u]Stevie[/name_u] [name_f]Joy[/name_f] exclusively, which I think is super sweet, and it puts it firmly in the feminine camp. But her adoptive father was [name_m]Steven[/name_m], so I could see where [name_u]Stevie[/name_u] came from. We were talking about a full name for it, and she didn’t like any of my suggestions (she didn’t really understand the whole [name_f]Stephanie[/name_f] nn [name_u]Stevie[/name_u] thing, and I couldn’t think of anything else, with the exception of [name_f]Stefania[/name_f]/[name_f]Stefanya[/name_f]…). I may have to suggest it as a smoosh nn for something like [name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_f]Eve[/name_f]. I know she’s liked [name_f]Evie[/name_f] (especially as a nn for [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f]) in the past, but I’m not sure she’d go for it, if she didn’t like [name_f]Stephanie[/name_f] nn [name_u]Stevie[/name_u], either. I like it, and I’m all for it–but only if it’s a nn for something fully feminine. I like unisex/boyish nns (like [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] and [name_f]Leni[/name_f] and [name_u]Kit[/name_u] and [name_u]Ari[/name_u]…), but I don’t really like them all on their own. It’s probably because I have a unisex name, share it with my uncle, and hate that aspect of it…
