My SO is extremely picky about names. It was his turn to pick a first name, and the only name he suggested was [name_m]Xander[/name_m]. We tossed around the merits of [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] vs [name_m]Xander[/name_m] and decided that [name_m]Xander[/name_m] was better.
However, out of the blue, at 39+2 weeks, he suggests [name_m]Ethan[/name_m]. Our first son is [name_m]Griffin[/name_m] [name_m]Adam[/name_m] “[name_m]Nap[/name_m]”, and the full name would be [name_m]Ethan[/name_m] [name_m]Edgar[/name_m] " [name_m]Nap[/name_m]". It is a bit common for my taste, but it solves the flow issue that we were having with [name_m]XandER[/name_m] [name_m]EdgAR[/name_m]. It also has a good meaning, strong! What do you Berries think?
[name_m]How[/name_m] about
[name_m]Edgar[/name_m] [name_m]Ethan[/name_m]
[name_m]Xander[/name_m] [name_m]Edmund[/name_m]
[name_m]Edgar[/name_m] is non-negotiable, but it is a little ugly for the first name, ha-ha. Thank you for your input though.
I think [name_m]Xander[/name_m] makes a lot more sense next to [name_m]Griffin[/name_m].
[name_m]Ethan[/name_m] is too bland.
[name_m]Xander[/name_m] [name_m]Edgar[/name_m] sounds jaunty and robust, not awkward at all!
Awe thank you! I do agree that [name_m]Griffin[/name_m] and [name_m]Xander[/name_m] make a cute pair.
Both [name_m]Xander[/name_m] & [name_m]Ethan[/name_m] are great, love those choices!
My favourite is still [name_m]Xander[/name_m] [name_m]Edgar[/name_m] N@p!
Thanks guys! I appreciate the input. I’m sure we won’t decide until I am in the hospital anyway, hahaha.
Any other opinions?
[name_m]Xander[/name_m] and [name_m]Ethan[/name_m] are both very handsome and I like them both with brother [name_m]Griffin[/name_m]. I very slightly prefer [name_m]Griffin[/name_m] and [name_m]Ethan[/name_m].
I think [name_m]Ethan[/name_m] is perfect!
[name_m]Xander[/name_m] & [name_m]Griffin[/name_m]. [name_m]Ethan[/name_m] is very handsome but more common/mainstream and less edgy, imo.
hmmm [name_m]Ethan[/name_m] [name_m]Edgar[/name_m] does sound pretty cute though! I just like [name_m]Xander[/name_m] better with [name_m]Griffin[/name_m]. I can see why you’re torn! Take both to the hospital? good luck!
These are my exact thoughts!
Update: All my family seems to be really on board with [name_m]Ethan[/name_m]! I still think it is a little common for my tastes, but it continues to grow on me. I still think [name_m]Griffin[/name_m] and [name_m]Xander[/name_m] make a better pair, but oh well.
I like [name_m]Ethan[/name_m] a lot with [name_m]Griffin[/name_m]. It is more popular for now, but honestly I think [name_m]Xander[/name_m] is set to shoot up. [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] is popular, [name_m]Xavier[/name_m] (and the letter X generally) is popular… give it a few years and I think [name_m]Xander[/name_m] may actually overtake [name_m]Ethan[/name_m], which I see heading down to make way for “newer”, trendier Biblical and -n ending choices.
[name_m]Ethan[/name_m] [name_m]Edgar[/name_m] is a nice combo (I am a big fan of alliteration in the right combo), and [name_m]Griffin[/name_m] and [name_m]Ethan[/name_m] strikes me as a more surprising, less “hipsterish” sibset than [name_m]Griffin[/name_m] and [name_m]Xander[/name_m] (don’t get me wrong, I love both names and they work together nicely, but they’re both very “cool” choices).
Good luck!
[name_m]Hi[/name_m] there, funnily enough I actually know a sibset with [name_m]Griffin[/name_m] and [name_m]Xander[/name_m]! I do think they sound great together. My personal preference leans a little more on the traditional side so I slightly prefer [name_m]Ethan[/name_m] or [name_m]Alexander[/name_m], but both [name_m]Xander[/name_m] and [name_m]Ethan[/name_m] are great names. All the best with your pending arrival!
