Married Life

  1. They struggle with their relationship. [name_m]Roll[/name_m] a d6 to see how the situation resolves. 1 or 2 – They work it out before anything significant happens. 3 or 4 – They separate for a time and then get back together. 5 or 6 – They divorce. Move back to the Adulthood table.
  2. If they are an introvert (personality begins with “I”), the develop one close friendship. If they are an extravert (personality begins with “E”), they join a friend group three other people.   3. They have a child. (e.g. feminism if they are a girl or LGBT issues if they are LGBT) 4 – Scientific research (e.g. funding space exploration or finding a cure for something) 5 – Political involvement. 6 – An international issue. 7 – Change in religious beliefs. 8 – Change in personal values.
  7. They have twins.   10. They open a business in a field they are employed in.
  11. They acquire a disability or mental illness, or are late-diagnosed with one they already had. They move back in with you for a time, roll a d6 for the reason. 1 – Illness or injury, 2 – Financial hardship, 3 – Lost their home in a fire, natural disaster, etc., 4 – Divorce. 5 – [name_m]Job[/name_m] transferred them back to your area and they haven’t found a home of their own in the area yet, 6 – In order to help you with something, such as taking care of the younger kids, while your own family struggles with something.
  14. They get into trouble at their job, roll a d6 and on a 5 or 6 they’re fired. You may choose to reroll their career, but can’t choose anything that requires a different degree than the one they got, or have them go back into the same field.
  15. They volunteer as a foster parent for a d4 children, each with a d12 for their age, and names are traditional, for example Pregnancy, Parenting, Lifestyle, Beauty: Tips & Advice | mom.com Then roll a d6, and on a 6 they adopt them.
  16. Their family takes a small vacation; roll a d6 for where. 1 – An amusement park. 2 – A city. 3 – A trip to visit relatives, possibly you. 4 – A lake or beach. 5 – An outdoors trip, such as camping or a national park. 6 – An educational trip.
  17. They learn that they need glasses. (If they already wear glasses, switch to contacts.)
  18. They win a contest or competition of some sort.
  19. This has been an eventful year for them! [name_m]Roll[/name_m] twice on this table.
  20. Choose whichever one you like.

After getting here, increase everyone’s age by one and go back to the top to roll new events for the new year, until it’s been forty years since you started, ten of them spent in Part 5.
