Sorry for the delay, it’s harder during the school year to have time to do these. I’ve tried to deal with the problem of posts getting stuck in moderation by making sure all of the links I used for this one are internal to Nameberry, so lots of user lists because I have already used official lists in previous parts.
Retirement
This section applies to the next years of your story. The whole thing will be repeated ten times to get ten years’ worth of events.
Option: You may choose to reroll events that add additional children if you already have the number of children you want to stop at. (I did a bad job balancing this table, the numbers can get unmanageable otherwise, I’m sorry.)
A Note if You’re Playing as a [name_u]Gay[/name_u] Couple:
Any planned pregnancies rolled can be replaced with adoption or treated as being from surrogacy, IVF, etc. Unplanned children are trickier. If you roll to have an unplanned birth and are playing as a gay couple, refer to the table in part 2.
Family Plot:
[name_m]Roll[/name_m] a d20 twice and add the results together to get an event on this table.
- (It’s impossible to get a one.)
- You win the lottery and are able to buy your dream home for your family. Choose a new location freely.
- You have one child, plan is your choice. Roll details in the New Children section. Name from here: Girl Names Ending With a Non-Silent -e | Nameberry or Boy Names Ending in -er | Nameberry
- You or your partner has a notable success in their career (for example, a scientist making a groundbreaking discovery, a writer writing a bestseller, etc.). This event can still occur even if you are retired, by using something that happened as part of a hobby, or something that started before but happens on a delay, like the process of publishing a book.
- A family friend who is raising their grandchildren who have no other living family becomes seriously ill or injured, and you take care of their 1d4 grandchildren for several months until they recover. Get their ages by rolling a d20. Names from here, unless the characters in question already have established names: https://nameberry.com/userlist/view/108150
- A sibling experiences unfortunate circumstances and moves in with you until they can get back on their feet. Up to you whether they bring a spouse or any kids with them, in which case names come from here, unless the characters in question already have established names: Celestial Names | Nameberry If there are no siblings, use a cousin or something.
- You or your partner retires. If you are already retired, you start a part time job. You can roll or choose what job.

- One of your children who has children for their own (choose someone who doesn’t have an event this year, or someone whose event fits with this roll, whichever you prefer) can no longer care for them because of circumstances that you can choose, so they come to live with you.
