A middle for Amrei

For the past two days, I have been head over heels with Amrei (to the point that I’m considering using a pen name again just so I can use it). Pronounced UMM-reye, a mash of Anne and Mary mostly used in southern Germany. Now of course I’m looking for a middle name for her that excites me just as much, and this is where I’m stumped. I think the vibe is… cottagecore but slightly off, with a bit of clunky nerdiness mixed in.

Everything I considered so far:

Amrei Patricia – no idea where this came from tbh
Amrei Miriam – roughly the vibe I’m looking for, but I don’t love Miriam and it irks me that they ultimately have the same root
Amrei Thersia – had that for a while. the vibe is good, but I feel like Thersia is “wasted” in the middle spot
Amrei Muriel – again, a good fit, but they sound more like sisters to me
Amrei Brynja – not sure why I’m not happy with this one, maybe the choppy flow
Amrei Cosima – what I have at the moment, but it feels more like an opportunity of finally putting Cosima to use than an actual good match
Amrei Berenike – is the only one that ever sparkled as bright as Amrei does right now, but it’s also my go-to middle at the moment. I’d rather have something that’s just for Amrei
Amrei Margot – (with an audible t) the definition of the so-uncool-it’s-cool vibe I want, but again, the choppy flow
Amrei Michaela – (German Michaela, so like the beginning of Michelle with the ending of Raphaela rather than Mikayla) a wildcard of sorts, a name I never considered before but might fit just right here
Amrei Friederike – something I just came up with while putting this together. Fits the vibe quite well. Problem is I want to put Amrei in an set with Freda, but if the set is just something to post once while Amrei is here to stay longer, does it matter?

  • Amrei Patricia
  • Amrei Miriam
  • Amrei Thersia
  • Amrei Muriel
  • Amrei Brynja
  • Amrei Cosima
  • Amrei Berenike
  • Amrei Margot
  • Amrei Michaela
  • Amrei Friederike
  • Amrei something I’ll tell you below :backhand_index_pointing_down:

Please and thank you. So excited to see what you think!

Amrei is so pretty!

I’m not the best with vibing out German names/names in a German context (AKA I’m very bad at it) so the associations here may be entirely off the vibe you’re after, but some ideas for the sake of it: Amrei Mathilda, Amrei Kornelia, Amrei Wilhelmina, Amrei Corinna, Amrei Louisa, Amrei Luzia, Amrei Leonore, Amrei Josefine, Amrei Hanna, Amrei Cäcilia, Amrei Pauline, Amrei Karolina, Amrei Liselotte, Amrei Claudia, Amrei Helene, Amrei Tanja (instead of Brynja?), Amrei Johanna, Amrei Jana

I’m also not toooo familiar with [name_m]German[/name_m] names and their vibes but of your list, Amrei [name_f]Berenike[/name_f] certainly feels the sparkliest to me! She’s got a real zip! I also really do love Amrei [name_f]Cosima[/name_f] - genuinely great, not just a placeholder.

I love the -ike endings of [name_f]Berenike[/name_f] and [name_f]Friederike[/name_f] with Amrei! Something about them just clicks.
Maybe Amrei [name_f]Ulrike[/name_f] or Amrei Henrike? Amrei [name_f]Mareike[/name_f] would be gorgeous but it bothers me too that they ultimately share a root.

Instead of Amrei [name_f]Cosima[/name_f], maybe Amrei [name_f]Zosia[/name_f] or Amrei [name_m]Zosime[/name_m]?

I’ll second @tallemaja’s suggestions of Amrei [name_f]Josefine[/name_f], Amrei [name_f]Luzia[/name_f], and Amrei [name_f]Liselotte[/name_f] in terms of a clunky cottagecore feel! Though of course that’s coming from an [name_f]English[/name_f] context.

[name_f]Amrei[/name_f] is stunning :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: immediate new love!

[name_f]Amrei[/name_f] [name_f]Cosima[/name_f] is my favourite I think – bold and offbeat, slight sci-fi-bookish-ness. (it is however the middle of actress Amrei Haardt if that would bother you :person_shrugging: )

I enjoy the sounds of [name_f]Berenike[/name_f] and [name_f]Friederike[/name_f] with it too - the slight spiky-but-vintage-ness. [name_f]Kind[/name_f] of liking [name_f]Michaela[/name_f] too - it’s got that unexpected clunkiness.

A couple of ideas…

[name_f]Amrei[/name_f] [name_f]Corinna[/name_f]
[name_f]Amrei[/name_f] [name_f]Sunniva[/name_f]
[name_f]Amrei[/name_f] [name_f]Casimira[/name_f] / [name_f]Amrei[/name_f] Kasimira
[name_f]Amrei[/name_f] [name_f]Pauline[/name_f]
[name_f]Amrei[/name_f] [name_f]Constanza[/name_f] / [name_f]Amrei[/name_f] [name_f]Konstanze[/name_f]
[name_f]Amrei[/name_f] [name_f]Cressida[/name_f]
Amreri [name_f]Gesine[/name_f]
[name_f]Amrei[/name_f] Henrike
[name_f]Amrei[/name_f] [name_f]Saskia[/name_f]
[name_f]Amrei[/name_f] [name_f]Dagmar[/name_f]
[name_f]Amrei[/name_f] [name_f]Valeska[/name_f]
[name_f]Amrei[/name_f] [name_f]Sylvestra[/name_f]
[name_f]Amrei[/name_f] [name_f]Mosella[/name_f]

I would never have guessed [name_f]Amrei[/name_f] was [name_m]German[/name_m]. Interesting. I like [name_f]Amrei[/name_f] [name_f]Cosima[/name_f].

[name_f]Amrei[/name_f] is amazing! I’m so in love. [name_f]Amrei[/name_f] [name_f]Friederike[/name_f] is stunning and easily my favorite. I adore [name_f]Brynja[/name_f] and [name_f]Cosima[/name_f] too but not as much with [name_f]Amrei[/name_f]? I think [name_f]Amrei[/name_f] [name_f]Franziska[/name_f] is also stunning, though if I remember correctly, [name_f]Franziska[/name_f] is much more popular in [name_m]Germany[/name_m]? [name_m]Not[/name_m] sure how you feel about it, but I do think it’s pretty!

[name_f]Amrei[/name_f] is stunning! I’ve never come across it before but I dig the unusual ending and tailored (somewhat unisex) sound.

[name_f]Amrei[/name_f] [name_f]Cosima[/name_f] is my favourite. Also I’m really into [name_f]Amrei[/name_f] [name_f]Berenice[/name_f] and [name_f]Amrei[/name_f] [name_f]Michaela[/name_f].

Thank you everyone! I have settled on [name_f]Amrei[/name_f] [name_f]Michaela[/name_f] for now.

Itersting that there’s actually an [name_f]Amrei[/name_f] [name_f]Cosima[/name_f] out there! Someone’s parents must have good taste
I’ll add [name_f]Helene[/name_f], Cäcilia, Henrike, [name_f]Casimira[/name_f] and [name_f]Gesine[/name_f] to my list for future reference though. Especially [name_f]Gesine[/name_f] is such an unexpected, underappreciated perfect fit for the nerdy cottagecore vibe I’m going for. I’ll have to give [name_f]Franziska[/name_f] another thought as well – it fits here, but it was my highschool bully’s :upside_down_face:
