A middle name for Pearl

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] berries, I’m 39 weeks pregnant with our second little girl and having trouble deciding on her middle name.

We’ve decided on [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] for her first - it was a front-runner for our first born and we love the vintage feel, delicate but strong. Recognizable but still pretty uncommon. As the birthstone for [name_u]June[/name_u], it honors my grandmother’s birth month. It also feels like a perfect fit with big sister [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] [name_f]Ani[/name_f]. We picked [name_f]Estelle[/name_f]’s name as a mashup tribute to my grandmothers - [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] and [name_f]Adele[/name_f] and loved the nickname options (we often call her Stellie) and meaning of star. Her middle name, [name_f]Ani[/name_f], is after the Armenian medieval capital city and also a tribute to our friend [name_f]Anita[/name_f] who introduced me and my husband.

My struggle is that I really want another Armenian middle name (I’m half Armenian and have the middle name Zepure - Armenian for [name_u]Zephyr[/name_u]). I love [name_f]Lucine[/name_f], which means moon, but my husband really doesn’t meally like how it sounds. The double “L” of [name_f]PearL[/name_f] [name_f]Lucine[/name_f] bothers me a little bit, but maybe I’m being too picky there…

The middle mames were considering are:

[name_f]Mirabelle[/name_f] - Not Armenian, but honors my Armenian grandfather, Mihran, my brother who has the same name as a middle and my husband’s grandmother, [name_f]Myrna[/name_f]. My husband and mom both have “M” middle names, which is a nice connection as well.

[name_f]Mira[/name_f] - For the same reasons as above, it’s also not Armenian but means ocean in Arabic, which does honor my family roots somewhat

[name_f]Lucine[/name_f] - Very Armenin, means moon and I love the connection to [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] (star), but doesn’t honor anyone specifically

[name_f]Mari[/name_f] - Armenian for [name_f]Mary[/name_f] and honors the Mihrans and [name_f]Myrna[/name_f] albeit a bit for subtlety. I worry about it feeling to fillerish

[name_f]Mira[/name_f] [name_f]Lucine[/name_f] - Maybe we double up on middles? I hesitate a little with [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] only having one middle and it being so short

Would love any feedback and/or fresh ideas to my 39 week 4am churning!

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] there.

[name_f]Estelle[/name_f] [name_f]Ani[/name_f] is gorgeous, and I love [name_f]Pearl[/name_f]! [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] [name_f]Mari[/name_f] would be my choice. I like how it’s short, ends with an ‘I’, & honors someone special. That seems to fit in with [name_f]Ani[/name_f] the best. [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] [name_f]Lucine[/name_f] is lovely too.

[name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps.

[name_f]Pearl[/name_f] [name_f]Mari[/name_f] is pretty! I don’t like when parents give one child two middle names and another just one, so I’d pass on [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] [name_f]Mira[/name_f] [name_f]Lucine[/name_f].

[name_m]How[/name_m] about…
[name_f]Pearl[/name_f] [name_f]Milena[/name_f]
[name_f]Pearl[/name_f] [name_f]Arina[/name_f]
[name_f]Pearl[/name_f] [name_f]Karina[/name_f]
[name_f]Pearl[/name_f] Nazeli
[name_f]Pearl[/name_f] Ohana

First, I just wanted to say [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] [name_f]Ani[/name_f] ‘Stellie’ is so lovely and [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] is a great choice!

Some thoughts on your choices:

[name_f]Mirabelle[/name_f] - [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] [name_f]Mirabelle[/name_f] is beautiful and elegant and I love [name_f]Mirabelle[/name_f]. I like how it has family connections but is also its own name

[name_f]Mira[/name_f] - [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] [name_f]Mira[/name_f] is sweet too and I love the ocean meaning

[name_f]Lucine[/name_f] - [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] [name_f]Lucine[/name_f] is stunning and I don’t think the two l’s are a problem - [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] [name_f]Lucine[/name_f] is probably my fave of your options

[name_f]Mari[/name_f] - [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] [name_f]Mari[/name_f] is sweet - I think don’t think it feels too fillerish, but I do prefer your options

[name_f]Mira[/name_f] [name_f]Lucine[/name_f] - [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] [name_f]Mira[/name_f] [name_f]Lucine[/name_f] is lovely and I wouldn’t worry too much about [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] only having one - she has a longer first name? But as I mentioned before, I think [name_f]Lucine[/name_f] works on its own

A couple of suggestions:
[name_f]Pearl[/name_f] [name_f]Mariam[/name_f]
[name_f]Pearl[/name_f] [name_f]Milena[/name_f]/Melineh
[name_f]Pearl[/name_f] [name_f]Zabel[/name_f]

Congratulations!

My first choice for you is [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] [name_f]Mari[/name_f]. I love the symmetry with big sis’ name, but the sounds are different enough that it doesn’t feel too matchy. The flow and imagery is just lovely ([name_f]Mari[/name_f] makes me think of the sea, especially with [name_f]Pearl[/name_f]).

[name_f]Pearl[/name_f] [name_f]Lucine[/name_f] is my second favourite. [name_f]Lucine[/name_f] is a beautiful name with a beautiful meaning, and I love the celestial connection to [name_f]Estelle[/name_f]. The double L bothers me a little but I’d by no means a deal-breaker; however, the fact that your husband isn’t a big fan may well be.

Good luck and let us know what you choose!

Gosh, I adore [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] [name_f]Lucine[/name_f]! It’s sweet, refined, and meaningful to you! [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] [name_f]Mari[/name_f] is wonderful too.

I really like [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] with [name_f]Estelle[/name_f]. [name_f]Mirabelle[/name_f] is my favorite name but in your case I like [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] [name_f]Lucine[/name_f]. Yes they do run into each other, but I actually like up against a one syllable name.

[name_f]Do[/name_f] you like [name_f]Marielle[/name_f]? Or [name_f]Maribel[/name_f]? It combines [name_f]Mari[/name_f] with the -elle ending.

Thank you all for chiming in with your thoughts! She’s here and we settled on [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] Míra! Upon a bit more research we found that the name Míra is used fairly often in Armenian culture - and Mihran (from one of our namesakes) is actually rooted in Arabic not specifically Armenian anyway. It feel like the perfect! So appreciative of the thoughtful responses, it was a big to sift through all the options. I still love [name_f]Lucine[/name_f], hopefully someone else in the family will use it ”

Congratulations! [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] Míra is lovely!!

Congrats! Really love the combo.
