A middle name to honor my Dad Kevin

I am really intent on using the middle name spot to honor my Dad: [name_m]Kevin[/name_m] [name_m]Normand[/name_m]. The [name_m]Normand[/name_m] in his middle comes from his Grandfather. Sadly, try as I might, I cannot get used to [name_m]Kevin[/name_m] as a middle name. To me, it disrupts the flow when paired with any first name hubby and I like.

I am open to using a middle name other than [name_m]Kevin[/name_m] to accomplish my goal, so here is a little bit about my Dad. He is a smart and funny/sarcastic guy that loves watching documentaries and shows like [name_f]Nova[/name_f]. He loves science fiction and particularly author [name_m]Isaac[/name_m] Aismov and [name_f]Star[/name_f] Trek.

Our current favorite fn is [name_m]Lucas[/name_m], our second favorite is [name_u]Charlie[/name_u].

[name_f]TIA[/name_f]!

[name_m]Kevin[/name_m] is an Irish name meaning “handsome” - perhaps you can look at names that have a similar meaning as a way to honor your dad without using his specific name?

[name_m]Kevin[/name_m] is a hard one. There are not many (good) choices using [name_m]Kev[/name_m]- so you could use the -vin eg. [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] [name_m]Vin[/name_m]/ [name_m]Lucas[/name_m] [name_m]Vin[/name_m]. It doesn’t look substantial but it means ‘conquering’.

You could also use [name_m]Norman[/name_m] eg. [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] [name_m]Norman[/name_m]/[name_m]Lucas[/name_m] [name_m]Norman[/name_m] or even [name_m]Normand[/name_m] (although it sounds a bit too formal)

And here is a list of names that mean ‘handsome’ (same as [name_m]Kevin[/name_m]) https://nameberry.com/search/?gender=M&starts_with=&ends_with=&contains=&syllables=&language_id=&derivation=handsome&search=find+names

I would just use [name_m]Normand[/name_m]. [name_m]Lucas[/name_m] [name_m]Normand[/name_m] sounds nice and it could become “the name” that runs in the family.
Another option would be to use [name_m]Kevin[/name_m] and add a second middle name to help with the flow.

I love honor names, but if you have to force yourself to come up with it then it’s pretty pointless in my opinion. To me honor name is something that should be easily connected to the person you want to honor. So I would stick to one of those options.

Thank you all so much, you have been helpful.

The more I think about it the less crazy I am about [name_m]Normand[/name_m]/[name_m]Norman[/name_m] since I didn’t ever know my great grandfather. He isn’t talked about much, and I really know nothing about him. I don’t believe my dad knew him well either since he is so much younger than his siblings.

While I wouldn’t ever change a first name I love to shoehorn in a middle name to honor my dad, I have always had a strong preference for a family nod in the middle space. I have a small family and we are close, so I appreciate the efforts in helping me out as it means a lot.

[name_m]Vin[/name_m] might be an interesting option, certainly one I had not thought of.
I will peruse the list that was linked of names that mean handsome with hubby later today. Good idea.

Thanks again. Any other berry advice is welcome

I have no suggestions for BOYS names to honour kevin besides what has already been suggest BUT I do however love the name [name_u]KEEVA[/name_u] and it seems to be a feminine version of [name_m]Kevin[/name_m] which would be kind of cool as a middle name for a girl!

[name_u]Charlie[/name_u] [name_m]Vin[/name_m] or [name_m]Lucas[/name_m] [name_m]Vin[/name_m] are very cool
[name_u]Charlie[/name_u] [name_m]Isaac[/name_m] is also very handsome

[name_u]Charlie[/name_u] [name_m]Ken[/name_m] or [name_m]Lucas[/name_m] [name_m]Ken[/name_m] would also work (cutting out the vi–though I’m not sure if that’s more attractive to you)

It might be an idea to tell your dad that you’d love to have him be part of your sons name process and then ask him for his opinions on names. Who knows, maybe there’s a name he’s always loved that your mom vetoed or something  Having the honor of being part of the picking could make him feel special and honored even if it’s not his name.

Agreed! I had thought of [name_u]Beau[/name_u] to honor a [name_m]Kevin[/name_m], once, since they both mean “handsome”–and I think [name_m]Lucas[/name_m] [name_u]Beau[/name_u] would be fantastic! The other idea I had was the Irish [name_m]Cavan[/name_m]–I know a [name_u]Berry[/name_u] has a father named [name_m]Kevin[/name_m], and had liked [name_m]Cavan[/name_m] to honor him. You could also opt for [name_f]Caoimhe[/name_f] for a girl–it’s the feminine form of [name_m]Kevin[/name_m]–although the spelling is harder to deal with.

Too bad he’s not a [name_f]Star[/name_f] Wars fan, because [name_m]Lucas[/name_m] ([name_m]George[/name_m] [name_m]Lucas[/name_m]!) could have been a pretty great way to honor that!

[name_u]Love[/name_u] the name [name_m]Lucas[/name_m]!! What about just using [name_m]Vin[/name_m]??
[name_m]Lucas[/name_m] [name_m]Vin[/name_m] has a cute ring to it.
