I have an idea for another book series (shock). The central character is a 16 or 17 year old male witch. He has slightly wavy auburn hair and light brown eyes. He has a slender and lean figure and is six feet tall. Because he was raised by his strong-willed feminist witch mother and watched over by two fiercely independent older witch sisters (father died when he was a young boy), he has a lot of respect towards women and girls, who consider him the classic, charming, chivalrous gentleman, though not exactly a player or a ladies man. In his mother’s family, he is the first boy to have been born in generations, and because his mothers family, the Blakes, are such a powerful witch family, he has his pick of some of the prettiest witches he has ever seen.
I am having a hard time picking the right name for this one. Something cool, yet boyish, or a colonial or Puritan name even. Or just something that sounds good with his last name: [name]Blake[/name].
To give you an idea: as of now, I’ve picked his mother’s name to be [name]Evelyn[/name] [name]Blake[/name], his older sisters [name]Constance[/name] [name]Blake[/name] and [name]Alice[/name] [name]Blake[/name], and his grandmother [name]Lois[/name] [name]Blake[/name].
I think the male equivalent of a witch is a warlock.
[name]Eli[/name]
[name]George[/name]
[name]Lucas[/name]
[name]Roman[/name]
Delaiah
[name]Alvin[/name]
[name]Lawrence[/name]
[name]Asa[/name]
[name]Henry[/name]
[name]Nathaniel[/name]
[name]Sylvester[/name]
[name]Desmond[/name]
[name]Atticus[/name], maybe? Or [name]Sean[/name]? Or [name]Thatcher[/name]?
And I think that Amberdaydream is right…wouldn’t he be called a warlock, or perhaps a wizard?
On the warlock thing, I’ve heard the male version be called any of those names, including a male witch. It’s really the author’s choice. It sounds like, if a male were that rare, that maybe the female witches wouldn’t have bothered to come up with a different name for them? Either way, I like the idea
Sorry, not so good at that. I did like [name]Desmond[/name], [name]Matthias[/name], [name]Calvin[/name], [name]Atticus[/name], and [name]Sean[/name] from above though. Good luck
I think there are many interpretations of what a male witch is called. [name]Wizard[/name], warlock, male witch… It depends on who comes up with the book/show/movie. I personally like ‘male witch’ because I’ve mostly heard of warlocks as being evil [male] witches, and ‘wizard’ (with the exception of the [name]Harry[/name] [name]Potter[/name] series) makes me think of [name]Merlin[/name]. Neither is really the same as a witch who happens to be male.
I like [name]Samuel[/name] & [name]Lucas[/name]. They go with [name]Constance[/name] & [name]Alice[/name] the best, imo.
I wouldn’t go with [name]Blake[/name] only because [name]Cassie[/name] [name]Blake[/name] was a witch from the cmt series The [name]Secret[/name] Circle
I’d suggest something like [name]Nicholas[/name] nn [name]Nick[/name], because [name]Merlin[/name] is already used in the BBC [name]Merlin[/name], so [name]DO[/name] NOT go there!
[name]Simon[/name]
[name]Caius[/name] ([name]Gaius[/name] is a wizard on “merlin” maybe too close)
[name]Gershom[/name]
[name]Job[/name] ( won’t go with [name]Blake[/name])
Sidrach
[name]Giles[/name]
[name]Calvin[/name]
[name]Gideon[/name]
[name]Jotham[/name]
What about these suggestions? [name_m]Ian[/name_m], [name_m]Liam[/name_m], [name_m]Andrew[/name_m]/[name_u]Drew[/name_u], [name_m]Patrick[/name_m] would probably work, or [name_m]Cole[/name_m]. It is ultimately your story, but these suggestions might be good for some characters and you can use one of them for your main character. You could also do [name_m]Nicholas[/name_m] nn [name_u]Nick[/name_u]. That’s the name of one of my best friends and I’m using him in my superhero story.
