A newfound appreciation for Emily ✨

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] everyone!
[name_f]Emily[/name_f] is one of those names I’ve always overlooked, mostly due to knowing so many of them growing up (and quite a few not-nice ones).
However, lately, I’ve been able to appreciate it a lot more.
It’s got a lovely sound and a beautiful flow, and feels a lot less overused on a child today than [name_f]Amelia[/name_f]. I also love the nicknames [name_f]Em[/name_f], [name_f]Emmie[/name_f], [name_f]Emma[/name_f] and [name_f]Molly[/name_f] (the last one a bit more stretchy, but I love stretchy nicknames!).
It also reminds me of [name_f]Emily[/name_f] [name_f]Bronte[/name_f], and [name_f]Emily[/name_f] of [name_u]New[/name_u] [name_u]Moon[/name_u] by LM [name_u]Montgomery[/name_u], which definitely gives it a more vintage vibe that I previously imagined.
Anyway, this is more just an [name_f]Emily[/name_f] appreciation post, but if you guys wanna comment or give some names that you’ve lately grown to appreciate, go ahead!

I think that the [name_u]James[/name_u] [name_u]Arthur[/name_u] song,“Emily” also helped me like this one more

I like [name_f]Emily[/name_f] (Emily [name_f]Bronte[/name_f] helps ) - it feels strong but sweet and it’s pleasing to say. It’s definitely down as a potential middle name for my list

I’m not a huge [name_f]Emily[/name_f] fan - she’s cute and I like the literary references but dear goodness I’ve known so many - but I adoooooore nn [name_f]Emmie[/name_f]

I love Emily!!! [name_f]Emily[/name_f] Dickenson is another good connection.

I’ve recently gained a new appreciation for [name_f]Anna[/name_f]. I used to think it was kind of boring by my obsession with [name_f]Annie[/name_f] has made reevaluate that stance and now I like it and consider the simplicity to be a good thing.

I’ve always liked [name_f]Emily[/name_f].

It’s the #1 girl name for my whole generation (so I can’t use it, by the time I’m ready to have children it’ll be a dated “mom name”), but it’s pretty. [name_f]Emily[/name_f] sounds like a nice person too.

Mine too. Emily and Isabella I’ve each known countless of… but separating from that, I really like them.

I love [name_f]Anna[/name_f] “Annie”!
Annie’s the sweetest nickname, honestly.

I also love [name_f]Samantha[/name_f] “Annie”

I have felt the same way about [name_f]Emily[/name_f] since last year, when my twins had an [name_f]Emily[/name_f] in their class (she would’ve been 4 or 5). So cute, and such a sweet name on a little girl.

I think [name_f]Amy[/name_f] falls into the same category for me. Very much a “mum” name, but with similar literary pedigree to [name_f]Emily[/name_f], it would feel so refreshing on a little girl.

Oh I definitely agree about [name_f]Amy[/name_f]! Would be so refreshing to see a little [name_f]Amy[/name_f] - not a nickname for [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] but as a stand-alone!

All good points. It’s classic enough to be moving into the Elizabeth category now that it’s finally off its longggg run. We’ll always hear it. I think it makes a good middle name at this point too.

I agree with you r.e the [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] thing. [name_f]Emily[/name_f] has been in the US top 50 for 47 years and doesn’t show signs of leaning it any time soon.

I’ve loved [name_f]Sophie[/name_f] & [name_f]Emily[/name_f] for as long as I remember - but they’re both super popular for girls of my generation.

That said, I think it could work and be refreshing!

[name_f]My[/name_f] love of [name_f]Emily[/name_f] stems from all the above references, plus the play “Our Town”. I played [name_f]Emily[/name_f] in it in high school and I that’s when I fell in love with the name. I also think the nn [name_f]Millie[/name_f] is super cute and works well!

I love [name_f]Emily[/name_f] so much! I think of [name_f]Emily[/name_f] [name_f]Bronte[/name_f], [name_f]Emily[/name_f] Dickenson, and even though she may be a tragic case, [name_f]Emily[/name_f] from [name_u]David[/name_u] Copperfield. I actually haven’t met any little Emily’s at all, the only one I know is my lovely Aunt!
To me, [name_f]Emily[/name_f] is a sweet, timeless, classic vintage name with a bit of a romantic and headstrong flair to her.

[name_f]Emily[/name_f] feels kinda bland to me but I don’t think it’s a bad name! I prefer [name_f]Emilie[/name_f] though. I like [name_f]Em[/name_f], [name_f]Emmie[/name_f] and [name_f]Millie[/name_f] as nicknames.

I used to like this name a lot when I was younger, it reminded me of Victorian age and a novel for children “My [name_m]Little[/name_m] Princess” by [name_f]Frances[/name_f] [name_m]Hodgson[/name_m] [name_m]Burnett[/name_m] and also of dolls and tea parties.

I think I prefer [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] or [name_f]Emilie[/name_f] now. I have both names on my list, and realistically I would definitely name a daughter [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] for example.

For a boy I like both [name_m]Emil[/name_m] and [name_m]Emilio[/name_m]
