[name_u]Story[/name_u] is a sci-fi, other-worldly LGBT romance.
Main character: Male, brown skin, short dark hair, heir to the throne. He was originally named [name_m]Kipling[/name_m] Kasteel, but that was before the story morphed a bit and now it doesn’t feel royal enough. But then it is sci-fi and so I liked the idea of it not immediately sounding ‘royal’ as we know it? What are your thoughts? I don’t have middle names yet at all. [name_f]My[/name_f] current ideas are:
or my original, [name_m]Prince[/name_m] [name_m]Kipling[/name_m] Kasteel
[name_u]Love[/name_u] interest: Male, fair skin, blonde wavy hair down to his shoulders but often tied up. Family are modest flower farmers. I want a soft name that has meaning, anything to do with flowers or growth, and anything to do with peace/kindness etc. Current ideas are:
[name_u]Shiloh[/name_u] [name_u]Oleander[/name_u]
[name_u]Florian[/name_u] [name_m]Clement[/name_m]
[name_m]Aurelio[/name_m] [name_m]Hawthorne[/name_m] (if not used for the prince)
I really like [name_m]Kipling[/name_m] for your prince! What would you think of [name_m]Kipling[/name_m] [name_m]Caspian[/name_m]? Or [name_m]Kipling[/name_m] [name_m]Cassian[/name_m], even? The possible nickname of [name_m]Kip[/name_m] is amazing.
For his boyfriend, I like [name_u]Florian[/name_u] [name_m]Clement[/name_m], but it sounds as royal as your prince. Would you consider [name_m]Florin[/name_m] [name_m]Clement[/name_m] maybe? Or maybe something really simple, like [name_u]Oak[/name_u]/Oake?
If [name_m]Kipling[/name_m] feels right, then I think it would work! The story is sci-fi so royal names could be whatever you want. Maybe [name_m]Kipling[/name_m] is the [name_u]George[/name_u] of this world haha. I also like [name_m]Aurelio[/name_m].
I love the suggestion of [name_m]Florin[/name_m] for the love interest. [name_u]Florian[/name_u] feels too princely to me (it’s [name_u]Snow[/name_u] White’s prince’s name) but [name_m]Florin[/name_m] feels more down-to-earth. I also like [name_m]Aurelio[/name_m] here. [name_u]Shiloh[/name_u] feels more American south to me but I do love it on a boy. But [name_m]Florin[/name_m] would get my vote!
I do think [name_m]Kipling[/name_m] will be [name_m]Kipling[/name_m] the Third haha. I think I am drawn to [name_m]Aurelio[/name_m] because it sounds so lovely and princely, but it’s maybe a bit cliche (in style).
Florian does feel princely, you’re right, not sure I like [name_m]Florin[/name_m] as much though. I am not against him having a princely sounding name as I like the idea that he has a name that doesn’t fit his situation. [name_u]Shiloh[/name_u] is my top, I love how it sounds and love that it means ‘peace’. And I like [name_u]Oleander[/name_u] too because I love the idea of him pointing out the flower he is named after. Also there’s a little story about the name [name_u]Oleander[/name_u] being about two parted lovers (which will fit with the story). But I don’t love [name_u]Oleander[/name_u] as a first name as I feel it is just too much of a mouthful. And yet, [name_m]Clement[/name_m] sounds so much better as a surname. Argh, I just don’t know. Too many choices!
[name_m]Prince[/name_m] [name_u]Augustine[/name_u] came to mind, but Prunce [name_m]Aurelio[/name_m] is awesome! ([name_m]Aurelius[/name_m] is the king’s name in my story, and I also considered [name_m]Aurelian[/name_m], so of course I love it! )
For your other character, I thought maybe [name_u]Ellis[/name_u]. [name_f]My[/name_f] favorites from your options are [name_u]Shiloh[/name_u] and [name_u]Florian[/name_u]. ([name_u]Florian[/name_u] might be a bit on-the-nose, so I would go with [name_u]Shiloh[/name_u])
Rue - Type of flower (also means regret which would be cool symbolism if the story is a tragedy or maybe one boy even betrays the other)
Soma - Dogwood tree
Rosen - [name_f]Rose[/name_f]
Catkin - Clusters of flowers that grow on trees (real cute as they got their names from the appearance similar to a kitten tail)
A cool one I think would be [name_u]Rosen[/name_u] [name_u]Rue[/name_u] ([name_f]Rose[/name_f] of Regret) but whatever you coose I’m sure will be great :))
