Hello, my husband and I are ttc baby number 2 and we are getting a jump start on names since we didn’t have a name for our daughter until we were in the hospital last time. We have a three year old daughter names [name]Harper[/name] [name]Elea[/name] which we picked back when we thought it was unique and before the celebs made it a craze. I’m a little bummed about it getting so popular but it also validates our choice I guess. Her middle name [name]Elea[/name] is after someone very special and we just loved [name]Harper[/name]. We need help with both girl and boy names.
If it is a boy, his middle name will be [name]Mitchell[/name] which is my maiden name. We like both [name]Ronan[/name] and [name]Tristan[/name] but aren’t sure how well they go with [name]Harper[/name].
For a girl I am quite stumped. Our daughter wants the name [name]Molly[/name] which I would like to incorporate somehow because I love how excited she is about it but I don’t feel that it goes with [name]Harper[/name] very well. Also our last name ends in ‘ley’ with the long e sound so most names that end in the long e sound don’t seem to fit for me. I also don’t like boy names for girls. I get that some people think [name]Harper[/name] is a boy name for girls but I never felt that way. I don’t want frilly, just not boyish. Also please nothing too trendy. I didn’t view [name]Harper[/name] as trendy when I picked it even though I realize it is now.
A couple girl names I’ve thought about are [name]Rowan[/name], [name]Arielle[/name], and [name]Malin[/name] (nn. [name]Molly[/name] for [name]Harper[/name]). She will also most likely have the middle name [name]August[/name].
Lastly, what makes naming so hard for me is that our last name begins with a G and I have to be careful of initials not to spell words like sag, hag, bag ect… When I named [name]Harper[/name], I had to change the spelling of her middle name from [name]Alea[/name] to [name]Elea[/name] to get away from the initials HAG. Thanks so much for any advice. I know my requirements and limitations seem hefty which is why I have such a hard time.
