A sibling for Julian?

I don’t know if I’m having a boy or a girl yet, but so far, I like …
for boys: [name]Oliver[/name], [name]Henry[/name], [name]Owen[/name], [name]Rowan[/name]
for girls: [name]Halina[/name], [name]Beata[/name], [name]Vita[/name], [name]Rowan[/name], [name]Linnea[/name]

What do you think? What are some other classic names that go with [name]Julian[/name]?

If you’re picking based purely on sound and style, then I think all of your boys’ names are good matches for [name]Julian[/name]. For your girls’ choices, [name]Linnea[/name] and [name]Beata[/name] are great picks, as is [name]Vita[/name] at a stretch (they emphasize the courtly, continental, saintly style of [name]Julian[/name]).

Other thoughts:

[name]Cecilia[/name]
[name]Claire[/name]
[name]Victoria[/name]
[name]Adele[/name]
[name]Antonia[/name]

[name]Felicity[/name]
[name]Genevieve[/name]
[name]Helena[/name]
[name]Louisa[/name]
[name]Marina[/name]
[name]Philomena[/name]
[name]Sabine[/name]
[name]Tatiana[/name]
[name]Ursula[/name]
[name]Vivian[/name]

[name]Adrian[/name]
[name]Dominic[/name]
[name]Tristan[/name]
[name]Sebastian[/name]
[name]Ambrose[/name]
[name]Baldwin[/name]
[name]Caedmon[/name]
[name]Blaise[/name]
[name]Cormac[/name]
[name]Elias[/name]
[name]Giles[/name]
[name]Leander[/name]
[name]Maxim[/name]
[name]Raphael[/name]
[name]Tarquin[/name]
[name]Xavier[/name]

Wow, there are so many. You ask for classic names, but only two on your lists seem ‘classic’ to me…[name]Oliver[/name] and [name]Henry[/name]. I like [name]Julian[/name] and [name]Oliver[/name] a lot…I get a cultured but modern gentleman vibe from those two together. [name]Henry[/name] sort of works that way as well. Other boy names that feel that way to me:

[name]Edward[/name]/[name]Edmund[/name]
[name]Jonathan[/name]
[name]Nicholas[/name]
[name]Philip[/name]
[name]Peter[/name]
[name]Reed[/name]
[name]Sebastian[/name]
[name]Thomas[/name]
[name]Arthur[/name]
[name]Louis[/name]
[name]Victor[/name]
[name]Frederick[/name]
[name]Christian[/name]
[name]Simon[/name]

Going with the same vibe for girls:

[name]Camille[/name]
[name]Alice[/name]
[name]Louisa[/name]
[name]Claudia[/name]
[name]Helena[/name]
[name]Isabella[/name]
[name]Sophia[/name]
[name]Victoria[/name]
[name]Olivia[/name]
[name]Charlotte[/name]
[name]Catherine[/name]
[name]Eleanor[/name]
[name]Clara[/name]
[name]Caroline[/name]

I can spin [name]Julian[/name] in other ways, sometimes it seems a bit French, a bit exotic, Latin, obviously, even, for some reason, a bit supernatural. These are just the ‘classic’ names that seem to fit with [name]Julian[/name] to my ear.

You’re right! I said classic, but I guess I’m attracted to names that have a tradition/history (i.e., names that have been used in past generations, not new names) but are kind of quirky. Not that [name]Oliver[/name] and [name]Henry[/name] are so quirky either. I guess I’m not sure what I’m looking for! :stuck_out_tongue:

Okay…I’ll throw out a few more lists, based on my ways of ‘reading’ [name]Julian[/name] (and I’ll probably end up repeating some of [name]Blade[/name]'s names.) [name]Just[/name] remember, these are my own quirky takes on the name…

[name]Julian[/name], the Continental sophisticate (and yes, to be French the spelling would have to be [name]Julien[/name], but still…), would work with:

[name]Remy[/name], [name]Gabriel[/name], [name]Anton[/name], [name]Caspar[/name], [name]Lucian[/name], [name]Omar[/name], [name]Marius[/name], [name]Orlando[/name], [name]Andreas[/name], [name]Ivan[/name], [name]Roman[/name], [name]Caspian[/name] and
[name]Simone[/name], [name]Sabine[/name], [name]Natasha[/name], [name]Giselle[/name], [name]Isadora[/name], [name]Fleur[/name], [name]Marguerite[/name], [name]Clemence[/name], [name]Delphine[/name] (my new crush), [name]Collette[/name], [name]Amelie[/name], [name]Vivienne[/name]

[name]Julian[/name] with ancient roots, conjurs up:

[name]Cassius[/name], [name]Cyrus[/name], [name]Remus[/name], [name]Lucius[/name], [name]Atticus[/name], [name]Felix[/name], [name]Marcus[/name] and
[name]Livia[/name], [name]Lucia[/name], [name]Silvia[/name], [name]Sybil[/name], [name]Claudia[/name], [name]Cecilia[/name], [name]Antonia[/name]

and [name]Julian[/name], the slightly supernatural (and I have no idea why [name]Julian[/name] sounds Gothic to me), I could see siblings:

[name]Damien[/name], [name]Tallis[/name], [name]Barnabas[/name], [name]Boris[/name], [name]Gideon[/name], [name]Nathaniel[/name], [name]Dante[/name] and
[name]Lenore[/name]/[name]Lenora[/name], [name]Rowena[/name], [name]Morrigan[/name], [name]Rue[/name], [name]Bella[/name], [name]Ophelia[/name], [name]Selene[/name], [name]Elspeth[/name], [name]Coraline[/name], [name]Agatha[/name]

Of course, a lot of these names could migrate between categories, in my head at least. Are any of these appealing? If so, it could help nail down your style, even if the right name isn’t here.

Ooh, those are good! I love [name]Gideon[/name], but my husband has vetoed it! [name]Delphine[/name] is so pretty too. [name]Antonia[/name] is terrific (and I adored My [name]Anton[/name]ía), but [name]Julian[/name]'s middle name is already [name]Antoni[/name]! [name]Livia[/name] is so good, but my niece is [name]Livia[/name]. I love [name]Lucia[/name] too - I’m partial to pronouncing it Loo-shia rather than Loo-see-ah.
Lots to think about & consider!
I really loved [name]Reuben[/name] when we were naming [name]Julian[/name], but my father Hated it! Still, I might bring it back into consideration…

[name]Julian[/name] & [name]Henry[/name] would get my vote for a boy, and then [name]Julian[/name] & [name]Linnea[/name] for a girl.

Other ideas…
[name]Julian[/name] & [name]Sophia[/name]
[name]Julian[/name] & [name]Charlotte[/name]
[name]Julian[/name] & [name]Helena[/name]
[name]Julian[/name] & [name]Isadora[/name]
[name]Julian[/name] & [name]Olivia[/name]

[name]Julian[/name] & [name]Samuel[/name]
[name]Julian[/name] & [name]Theodore[/name]
[name]Julian[/name] & [name]Gregory[/name]
[name]Julian[/name] & [name]Leonard[/name]
[name]Julian[/name] & [name]Nicholas[/name]

I second all of missmollys suggestions, and I am particularly fond of [name]Julian[/name] and [name]Gabriel[/name] and [name]Julian[/name] and [name]Helena[/name].

Kudos on [name]Julian[/name] btw, I love that name!!

I love your choices of [name]Oliver[/name], [name]Henry[/name] and [name]Linnea[/name]. I’d also suggest the names [name]Theodore[/name], [name]Arthur[/name], [name]Wesley[/name], [name]Maxwell[/name], [name]Vincent[/name], and [name]Thaddeus[/name].

And for girls: [name]Annabel[/name], [name]Cecily[/name], [name]Rhonwen[/name], [name]Lilith[/name], [name]Camilla[/name], [name]Dita[/name] and [name]Rosalie[/name]
