So my husband and I have decided that all our middle names will be our grandparents’ names.
His maternal side: [name_m]Albert[/name_m] and [name_f]Doris[/name_f]
His paternal side: [name_m]Martin[/name_m] and [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Esther[/name_f]
[name_f]My[/name_f] maternal side: [name_u]Maurice[/name_u] and [name_f]Alberta[/name_f]
[name_f]My[/name_f] paternal side: [name_m]Carl[/name_m] and [name_f]Carolyn[/name_f]
Our daughter’s name is [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f] [name_f]Alberta[/name_f], nn [name_f]Annie[/name_f]. Our second child (gender unknown) is due in 3 weeks. We have a boy name ([name_m]Tobiah[/name_m] [name_m]Carl[/name_m]) but for girls… I thought we were all set with [name_f]Tabitha[/name_f] [name_f]Doris[/name_f], but my husband says that he’d like to use [name_f]Carolyn[/name_f] for this middle name. He’d also like to continue with Greek names, but what he wants is Aritae - pronounced “err-ih-tay”. I think a)she’d have to correct people on how to pronounce/spell her name all her life and b)I’m not sure I want two A girls.
So in one corner we have Aritae [name_f]Carolyn[/name_f], in the other… ___ [name_f]Carolyn[/name_f].
Thoughts on Aritae? Or other names for a sister for [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f] using the mn [name_f]Carolyn[/name_f]?
[name_f]My[/name_f] all time favourite Greek name is [name_f]Calista[/name_f], but I’m not a fan of the double c sound with [name_f]Carolyn[/name_f]. [name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_f]Daphne[/name_f], [name_f]Antonia[/name_f], [name_f]Melina[/name_f] or [name_f]Sybilla[/name_f]?
Aritae is pretty but yes, there will be pronunciation and spelling problems. [name_f]My[/name_f] real name is rare and no one ever spells or pronounces it right and it doesn’t bother me much so I think you shouldn’t worry too much about that. More important is how you feel about the name. You don’t seem too excited about it, but if you do love it go for it! Aritae [name_f]Carolyn[/name_f] is very pretty.
