A sister for Coraline+

We already have a daughter named [name_f]Coraline[/name_f] and recently found out our second baby is also a girl. We are having trouble on agreeing on names we both like, but one we agree on so far is [name_f]Keira[/name_f]. Is that too close to [name_f]Coraline[/name_f], or especially [name_f]Cora[/name_f]? We always call our daughter by her full name, but I wonder if that might change as she gets older.

We also both like [name_f]Aria[/name_f]. But that name is trending very strongly right now, isn’t it? I would like to avoid those types of names.

Any other suggestions? We both like relatively unique names, but my husband doesn’t like place, month, or thing names.

Thank you!

[name_f]Keira[/name_f] has the same vibe as [name_f]Coraline[/name_f] -something familiar but mysterious - and i feel like you could get away with it, but it is quite close

Yeah I see your point about [name_f]Keira[/name_f] and [name_f]Cora[/name_f] being similar! It might bother you later if she uses that nn.
I like [name_f]Aria[/name_f] with [name_f]Coraline[/name_f] but it does seem a little ho-hum now.

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] there.

[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Coraline[/name_f]! [name_f]Keira[/name_f] is a little close to [name_f]Coraline[/name_f], & especially [name_f]Cora[/name_f]. [name_f]Aria[/name_f] is absolutely trendy.

[name_u]Juniper[/name_u]-okay, that’s kind of a thing name, but so cute!

[name_f]Ottilie[/name_f]

[name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps.

[name_f]Keira[/name_f] and [name_f]Coraline[/name_f] are too close in sound, in my opinion… especially if she goes by [name_f]Cora[/name_f] as she gets older. I do like [name_f]Aria[/name_f]. I think you’re thinking it’s trending a lot right now because it’s on a lot of people’s radar, but I’m not sure that many people are actually using it. You could always choose a longer name that lends itself to the nickname [name_f]Aria[/name_f] for more options…

[name_f]Arianna[/name_f]/[name_f]Arianne[/name_f]
[name_f]Ariadne[/name_f]
[name_f]Arielle[/name_f]/[name_f]Ariella[/name_f]
[name_f]Arina[/name_f]

I feel the same as previous posters, they are too close for me. Some other names you might like:

[name_f]Araminta[/name_f], [name_f]Annabeth[/name_f], [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f], [name_f]Arietta[/name_f], [name_f]Delphina[/name_f], [name_f]Delilah[/name_f], [name_f]Domenica[/name_f], [name_f]Estelle[/name_f], [name_f]Esme[/name_f], [name_f]Eugenie[/name_f], [name_f]Giselle[/name_f], [name_f]Geneva[/name_f], [name_f]Gwyneth[/name_f], [name_f]Jacinta[/name_f], [name_f]Lucinda[/name_f], [name_f]Melody[/name_f], [name_f]Millicent[/name_f], [name_f]Portia[/name_f], [name_f]Regina[/name_f], [name_f]Sabine[/name_f], [name_f]Sadie[/name_f], [name_f]Tasmin[/name_f], [name_u]Waverly[/name_u], [name_f]Yvonne[/name_f]

It was helpful to confirm what my instinct was about [name_f]Keira[/name_f] and [name_f]Coraline[/name_f] or [name_f]Cora[/name_f] being too close.

We are now also considering [name_f]Arielle[/name_f] and [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f]. I also [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] as well as [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] but our last name ends with a y so sadly those are out. And I love some of the other suggestions you all gave. [name_f]Raina[/name_f] is particularly gorgeous to me, but my husband isn’t a fan, unfortunately. If it helps, I think we will be using [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] (a family name) as her middle, so will have to consider that too. Thanks again.

I love the idea of [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] with [name_f]Coraline[/name_f]! Are you sure a y-ending last name rules it out? I definitely think it could still work.

[name_m]Just[/name_m] really unsure about [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] lastname-y. It’s a great name though. I’ve always loved it.
