A sister for Georgina

Hello everyone,

I’m due in [name_f]April[/name_f] with our second child, a sister for our daughter [name_f]Georgina[/name_f] [name_f]Noelle[/name_f], “[name_u]Georgie[/name_u]”. My husband and I are having so much trouble this time around settling on a list of a few solid names to take with us to the hospital. I want something that sounds special with a bit of spunk- that’s why I fell in love with [name_f]Georgina[/name_f].

Names we liked last pregnancy: [name_f]Georgina[/name_f], [name_f]Noelle[/name_f], [name_f]Francesca[/name_f] (we used 2/3 and [name_f]Francesca[/name_f] just doesn’t feel right this time around)

Our current short list:
[name_f]Juliet[/name_f] “[name_u]Jules[/name_u]” (our fav right now)
[name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] “[name_f]Cece[/name_f]” (like it on paper, but doesn’t seem natural when said out loud)
[name_f]Lily[/name_f] (is it special enough?)

Possible middles: (honor names) [name_f]Michaela[/name_f], [name_f]Josephine[/name_f], [name_f]Mary[/name_f]

Other names I’ve liked, but feel like can’t work with sister [name_f]Georgina[/name_f]: [name_f]Carina[/name_f], [name_f]Serena[/name_f], [name_f]Angelina[/name_f], [name_f]Gabrielle[/name_f] (don’t like 2 G names and dislike nn [name_u]Gaby[/name_u]), [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f] (too popular)

I’d love feedback on our 3 names and suggestions for others! Thank you in advance!

If you like [name_f]Juliet[/name_f], I think [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] [name_f]Michaela[/name_f] is a great combo.
Out of these options, the combo I would personally go with is [name_f]Cecelia[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]. I love the name [name_f]Cecelia[/name_f] and [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] is a favorite as well, so I think that’s a perfect name!

Yeah, I have to second [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] [name_f]Michaela[/name_f]. [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] isn’t as spunky as [name_f]Georgina[/name_f], but [name_u]Jules[/name_u] certainly is, and MN [name_f]Michaela[/name_f] adds a lot of pep.

If not [name_f]Gabrielle[/name_f] or [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f], what about [name_f]Arielle[/name_f] or [name_f]Brielle[/name_f]? I think [name_f]Arielle[/name_f] is a great balance of beauty and spunk, with [name_u]Ari[/name_u], [name_f]Ria[/name_f], [name_f]Elle[/name_f] or [name_f]Ella[/name_f] nickname options. And [name_f]Brielle[/name_f] has the awesome nickname [name_f]Bree[/name_f] (along with [name_f]Elle[/name_f]/[name_f]Ella[/name_f]). Neither is a chart-topper like [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f]/[name_f]Isabella[/name_f], etc.

And [name_f]Cecelia[/name_f] and [name_f]Lily[/name_f] both remind me of [name_f]Cecily[/name_f], which I think pairs nicely with [name_f]Georgina[/name_f] too.

The [name_m]French[/name_m] variation of [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f] to [name_f]Isabeau[/name_f] I think would sound nice: [name_f]Georgine[/name_f] [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] and [name_f]Isabeau[/name_f] [name_f]Marie[/name_f]…?
Other Options:
[name_f]Josephine[/name_f] [name_f]Lily[/name_f]
[name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] [name_f]Lily[/name_f]
[name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Alice[/name_f]
[name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Caterina[/name_f]

I instantly thought of [name_f]Margaux[/name_f] or [name_u]Vivian[/name_u]. I think they have the same girly spunk as [name_f]Georgina[/name_f].*

Suggestions:
[name_f]Georgina[/name_f] [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] & [name_f]Margaux[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]
[name_f]Georgina[/name_f] [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] & [name_u]Vivian[/name_u] [name_f]Michaela[/name_f]

Thank you for the feedback so far!

[name_f]Glad[/name_f] to see some of you like the combination of [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] [name_f]Michaela[/name_f]…that’s our favorite as of now as well!

Thanks for your name suggestions…

I do particularly like [name_f]Margo[/name_f] too, but our last name is 2 syllables and starts with M, so I don’t like it with our last name unfortunately.

Like the nickname [name_f]Vivi[/name_f], not sold on [name_u]Vivian[/name_u], and a friend used [name_f]Vivianna[/name_f] for her daughter.

Other names I’ve liked to give you more ideas of my style: [name_f]Susannah[/name_f] (I don’t know if I can get past the [name_f]Sue[/name_f]/[name_f]Susan[/name_f] part/sounds dated), [name_f]Rose[/name_f] (would like a longer version).

I like [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] [name_f]Michaela[/name_f]. You might also like [name_f]Florence[/name_f] or [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f].

Rosemary? Rosalind? Rosalie? Rosamund? I love Rosalie and Rosamund with Georgina. Both have elegance and spunk.
Juliet Michaela flows beautifully and is to me very feminine. I love the Jules nn.

Cecelia nn Cece is sweet. Lily is lovely but I have to say does feel less special next to beautiful Georgina. I second the Cecily suggestion. Still has the Cece nickname but IMO has a touch more spunk than Cecelia.

Other ideas:
Sybil
Phillipa
Phoebe
Viola
Helen(a)
Henrietta nn Etta

Best of luck in your search. You have beautiful taste!

Thank you for keeping the comments and suggestions coming!

I can’t seem to find a full version of [name_f]Rose[/name_f] that I love…I’ll bring up [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] to my husband again, but I think he vetoed that one last time.

I do like [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f], but he isn’t a fan of that one either, and I’m not sure it has the same elegance of [name_f]Georgina[/name_f].

[name_f]Cecily[/name_f] is another name I like on paper, but I consider it more of a tongue twister than [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f].

Thank you everyone!

I think [name_f]Georgina[/name_f] and [name_f]Susannah[/name_f] sound great together! Though [name_f]Susan[/name_f] sounds dated, [name_f]Susannah[/name_f] doesn’t [name_f]IMO[/name_f]. You could call her [name_f]Susie[/name_f] and make it clear that Suz is acceptable but [name_f]Sue[/name_f] isn’t. Or you could call her [name_f]Zanna[/name_f] or [name_f]Zuzu[/name_f] to get away from [name_f]Sue[/name_f] altogether.

Another suggestion: I think [name_f]Georgina[/name_f] and [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] would be lovely together – [name_u]Georgie[/name_u] and [name_f]Lulu[/name_f]

I also like [name_f]Georgina[/name_f] and [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] very much!

I also like [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] [name_f]Michaela[/name_f], and [name_f]Georgina[/name_f] and [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] are lovely as sisters.

I know a two people named [name_f]Georgina[/name_f]. They both have two sisters.

One sister set is [name_f]Annabel[/name_f], [name_f]Georgina[/name_f] and [name_f]Harriet[/name_f].

The other is [name_f]Georgina[/name_f], [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] and [name_f]Arabella[/name_f].

My favourite would be [name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_f]Michaela[/name_f] (i’m biased though, as my sister is [name_f]Mikayla[/name_f] - I love the name)! I would suggest these as sister names for [name_f]Georgina[/name_f]:

[name_f]Harriet[/name_f]
[name_f]Amelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Violet[/name_f]
[name_f]Martha[/name_f]
[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]
[name_f]Alice[/name_f]
[name_f]Matilda[/name_f]
[name_f]Penelope[/name_f]
[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f]
[name_f]Felicity[/name_f]
[name_f]Clarissa[/name_f]
[name_f]Katherine[/name_f]/[name_f]Catherine[/name_f]
[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]
[name_f]Emma[/name_f]
[name_f]Lucy[/name_f]
[name_u]Evelyn[/name_u]
[name_f]Audrey[/name_f]
[name_f]Hannah[/name_f]
[name_f]Arianna[/name_f]/[name_f]Ariana[/name_f]

Thank you all so much! You’re giving me so much to think about…I love it!

sbw- Thanks for your comments on [name_f]Susannah[/name_f]! It’s been a guilty pleasure that I keep going back to, and I particularly like [name_f]Zanna[/name_f] or [name_f]Suki[/name_f] for nicknames, but am not sure I can picture using it in real life, if that makes sense. [name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Louisa[/name_f]!!! But my dog’s name is similar and we call her [name_f]Lu[/name_f] all the time…kicking myself for that now!

Maggiemary- Thanks for sharing the real life sibling sets! So fun and interesting to hear what names others have used in real life. I like [name_f]Annabelle[/name_f], but my hubby is not into it.

Anyone else have opinions on [name_f]Susannah[/name_f]?

[name_f]Susannah[/name_f] is actually the top girl name on my own list (but without the H, though it’s lovely either way). So I’m rather biased, but I honestly think it pairs well with [name_f]Georgina[/name_f], as they’re equally unusual but familiar and classic in tone.

As has already been mentioned, [name_f]Zuzu[/name_f], [name_f]Zanna[/name_f] and [name_f]Suki[/name_f] are probably the least dated nicknames, even if they aren’t as natural as [name_f]Sue[/name_f] and [name_f]Susie[/name_f]. (Of those two, trim, tailored [name_f]Sue[/name_f] seems spunkier and more useable generally, though your mileage may vary.) Another option would be [name_f]Annie[/name_f]. My vote would be for [name_f]Annie[/name_f] or [name_f]Suki[/name_f], which at least starts with the same syllable and therefore may feel easier to use.

Of your middle options, I like [name_f]Mary[/name_f] or [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] with [name_f]Susannah[/name_f].

[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Susannah[/name_f]! Doesn’t feel dated to me at all

PP suggested [name_f]Arielle[/name_f] or [name_f]Brielle[/name_f], and those made me think of Avielle and [name_f]Aveline[/name_f], which would both be great sister names for [name_f]Georgina[/name_f].

Overall, my favourites are [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f], [name_f]Susannah[/name_f], and [name_f]Matilda[/name_f].

Good luck and congratulations!

[name_f]Susannah[/name_f] has grown on me lately, and I know one (adult) who goes by [name_f]Suki[/name_f] which I think makes it modern. I also like [name_f]Cecelia[/name_f] from your list. Not as into [name_f]Lily[/name_f] since I know a few little Lillies. From other suggestions I like [name_f]Sybil[/name_f], [name_f]Harriet[/name_f], [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f], and [name_f]Cecily[/name_f].

Other options:
[name_f]Beatrice[/name_f]
[name_f]Bryony[/name_f]
[name_f]Eugenie[/name_f]
[name_f]Eulalie[/name_f]
[name_f]Iona[/name_f]
[name_f]Leonie[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosemary[/name_f]
[name_f]Willa[/name_f]
[name_f]Winifred[/name_f] nn [name_f]Winnie[/name_f]

Hello,

My name is [name_f]Georgina[/name_f] and the name of my childhood best friend is [name_f]Rosanna[/name_f] (pronounced: [name_f]Rose[/name_f]-[name_f]Anna[/name_f]). We were [name_u]Georgie[/name_u] & [name_f]Rosie[/name_f], [name_f]Rose[/name_f] & [name_u]Georgie[/name_u], [name_m]George[/name_m] & [name_f]Rosie[/name_f] . . . a mixture of combinations when we were growing up. [name_m]Just[/name_m] thought I’d share that as you mentioned you were looking for longer versions of [name_f]Rose[/name_f].

I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] the name [name_f]Josephine[/name_f], although I am biased as my grandmother’s name was [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]. I also have a close friend with that name (both go/went by [name_u]Josie[/name_u]).

And I’m not sure why but [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] came to mind for me when reading your post. I think it would go nicely with [name_f]Georgina[/name_f].

[name_f]Georgina[/name_f] [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] & [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]

[name_f]Georgina[/name_f] [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] & [name_f]Rosanna[/name_f] [name_f]Juliet[/name_f]

I also love love love [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] but I personally wouldn’t like the alliteration of the “J” sound in their first names.

If you like [name_f]Serena[/name_f] - how about [name_f]Sienna[/name_f]? It doesn’t rhyme as much with [name_f]Georgina[/name_f].

[name_f]Georgina[/name_f] [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] & [name_f]Sienna[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]

Wishing you the best of luck!

I love [name_f]Juliette[/name_f] with [name_f]Georgina[/name_f]. Have you thought about the nickname [name_u]Jet[/name_u]/[name_f]Jette[/name_f]? [name_u]Georgie[/name_u] and [name_u]Jet[/name_u] is awfully cute. I also like [name_f]Michaela[/name_f] as a first name when it’s spelled this way; [name_u]Micky[/name_u] would be super cute next to [name_u]Georgie[/name_u].

[name_f]Georgina[/name_f] [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]-thank you for your suggestion of [name_f]Rosanna[/name_f]! It has a similar feel to me as [name_f]Susannah[/name_f], and I absolutely love the nn [name_f]Rosie[/name_f] with [name_u]Georgie[/name_u]! I’ll have to test this one on my husband!

I also like [name_f]Eliza[/name_f], but for some reason I struggle/overthink how to pronounce it. E-[name_f]Liza[/name_f], A-[name_f]Liza[/name_f]? Which is correct?

[name_f]Sienna[/name_f] was one of the names we considered the first time around. I still like it, but it bothers me a bit that it doesn’t have much history of usage behind it. Thoughts?

bjoy- love the nn option of [name_u]Jet[/name_u]! So cute! [name_m]Don[/name_m]'t love [name_f]Michaela[/name_f] as a first name, but [name_u]Micky[/name_u] is cute too!

Thank you so much everyone!

[name_m]Just[/name_m] a thought about the middle honour names - a Dutch nickname for [name_f]Maria[/name_f]/[name_f]Marie[/name_f] is [name_f]Mieke[/name_f]. Not actually pronounced like [name_m]Mike[/name_m], more like “Mee-kuh”. If I didn’t know where it’s from, I might guess it was short for Michaela. It could be a cute way to honour a [name_u]Michael[/name_u]/[name_f]Michaela[/name_f] and a Mary at the same time.

Congratulations, and good luck!
