A sister for Henry and Mary Elizabeth

I am struggling with naming our third child. Nothing feels right. We have a very [name_m]German[/name_m] last name and I have a lifelong love of the name [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f]. I didn’t use it with our first daughter because we ended up naming her after family ([name_f]Mary[/name_f] from his side, [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] from mine) but I still keep coming back to this name. *my phone thinks it knows how to spell my child’s name better than I do, sorry about the title!

I know it’s technically a mashup of [name_f]Anne[/name_f] and [name_f]Liese[/name_f], a [name_m]German[/name_m] derivative of [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], in [name_m]German[/name_m]. My husband is insistent that I’m the only person that knows this and he doesn’t care at all. I’m getting hung up on it.

Would you use it anyway?

It sounds to me that you love it and your knowledge of its etymology doesn’t really bother you, so I say use it!

[name_f]IMO[/name_f], it is a non-issue and I hope you use it! [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] is a gorgeous name and it fits well with her siblings. I don’t know of anyone who would know the [name_m]German[/name_m] derivative of this name but a positive consideration is that it is a lovely, but subtle, connection to her older sister (that likely only you and your husband would be aware of).

I would still use it

I would still use it, especially because [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] is your other daughter’s middle/second name, not her first.
