We are expecting a baby girl around [name_u]Valentine[/name_u]'s [name_u]Day[/name_u]. Beyond thrilled and just cannot wait to meet her. Only problem is we are undecided on even a shortlist of names.
Some criteria:
surname [name_m]Hall[/name_m]
Middle name [name_f]Katie[/name_f] after my sister.
must sound like it belongs with her big brother [name_u]Kit[/name_u] [name_m]Edward[/name_m].
must be whimsical, unusual and utterly feminine but not too popular. Definitely outside top 100.
I have my heart set on a very particular name - which my husband likes but keeps coming and going with - which is [name_u]Wren[/name_u].
What do people think?
Please feel free to bombard me with your suggestions and opinions, they are truly appreciated.
Other names we are fond of but not sure if we’re in love with are:
Should we stop messing around and go with [name_u]Wren[/name_u]. I think I can get endorsement from hubs. It’s the only name that tugs at my heartstrings…
I think [name_u]Wren[/name_u] [name_f]Katie[/name_f] would be lovely with [name_u]Kit[/name_u] [name_m]Edward[/name_m]! Since your husband seems on the fence with it, I don’t think it hurts to look for more names - even if you end up using [name_u]Wren[/name_u] in the end
I also think [name_u]Wren[/name_u] & [name_u]Kit[/name_u] are fabulous together. I am not even going to offer further suggestions, I think they are just perfect!
[name_f]Florence[/name_f] - too much gravity to go with the light [name_u]Kit[/name_u].
[name_f]Roxanne[/name_f] - this is a great name and doesn’t feel too far off the mark
[name_u]Kit[/name_u] and [name_f]Coco[/name_f] - reminds me of a chocolate bar, as in [name_u]Kit[/name_u] [name_f]Kat[/name_f] and Cocao? People might think it’s spelled [name_f]Koko[/name_f] because [name_u]Kit[/name_u] is obviously with a ‘K’?
[name_f]Lana[/name_f] - too sleek to go with the jaunty [name_u]Kit[/name_u].
[name_f]Penelope[/name_f] - too long for [name_u]Kit[/name_u] although [name_u]Penny[/name_u] and [name_u]Kit[/name_u] isn’t bad.
[name_u]Kit[/name_u] and [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] - [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] is too nickname-y, it makes [name_u]Kit[/name_u] look likes a girl’s name.
[name_u]Kit[/name_u] and [name_f]Inez[/name_f] - they are too different, stylistically.
I highly recommend [name_u]Wren[/name_u]! It would go great with [name_u]Kit[/name_u]!
My other thought is that [name_u]Kit[/name_u] is a diminutive of both [name_m]Christopher[/name_m] and [name_f]Katherine[/name_f]. [name_f]Katie[/name_f] is also a diminutive of [name_f]Katherine[/name_f]. [name_m]Even[/name_m] if [name_u]Kit[/name_u] wasn’t named with [name_f]Katie[/name_f] in mind, I see the use of [name_f]Katie[/name_f] as redundant.
I like the sound of [name_f]Roxanne[/name_f] [name_f]Katie[/name_f] [name_m]Hall[/name_m].
I’m going to suggest Lockhart ([name_m]Harry[/name_m]) [name_f]Katie[/name_f] [name_m]Hall[/name_m]
I think if [name_u]Wren[/name_u]'s the one that’s tugging at your heartstrings then there’s your answer [name_u]Wren[/name_u] and [name_u]Kit[/name_u] are great together.
I also like [name_f]Lana[/name_f] and [name_f]Inez[/name_f] with [name_u]Kit[/name_u], and the suggestions of [name_f]Gwen[/name_f], [name_f]Luna[/name_f], [name_f]Juno[/name_f], [name_f]Liv[/name_f], [name_f]Olive[/name_f] and [name_u]Piper[/name_u].
Once again thanks everyone for your thoughts / suggestions. Really appreciate it.
Am reassured that nobody so far thinks [name_u]Wren[/name_u] is a no go: and also that you think it flows well with [name_f]Katie[/name_f], which is here to stay as its my beloved sister’s name that I chose for her.
I really like [name_f]Liv[/name_f]… [name_m]Just[/name_m] not quite as much.
