Oh and I have some ideas for girls names but we just can’t settle. OH loves the name [name_m]Marshall[/name_m] for a boy so I’m pretty sure we’ll go with that. But no girl name we both love seems to go with [name_m]Marshall[/name_m] in my opinion any ideas please? thank you
Ooh girls names we do like are; [name_f]Ellie[/name_f], [name_f]Daisy[/name_f], [name_f]Lily[/name_f] and [name_f]Ella[/name_f].
Your girl names do seem very different in style than [name_m]Marshall[/name_m]. Something like [name_m]Martin[/name_m] would fit better with [name_f]Daisy[/name_f]. [name_f]Lily[/name_f] is a bit more timeless and would be ok with [name_m]Marshall[/name_m], which has more of a 80/90’s vibe.
[name_m]Marshall[/name_m] is a sturdy name with a bit of a vintage flair. Not vintage in how we typically thing of vintage names (e.g., [name_m]Theodore[/name_m], [name_m]Frederick[/name_m], etc.), but more in a 50s-70s vintage chic way. I see an above poster said 80s-90s, which I personally disagree with, but to each her own.
Your girl style appears to be perky, sweet, and feminine. [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] and [name_f]Lily[/name_f] are nature names, but they’re also nickname-y names much like [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] and [name_f]Ella[/name_f]. They’ve got a coziness about them that must appeal to you. I’d capitalize on that. Of the names on your list, I think that [name_f]Lily[/name_f] might be the best fit with [name_m]Marshall[/name_m], but I don’t think it completely captures the ‘intrigue’ that you would start with a name like [name_m]Marshall[/name_m].
If I were you, I’d use either an old-school nickname name, or I’d use a vintage name with an old-school 50s-70s nickname option.
Names with a 70s vintage flair - or a little older - might be [name_u]Billie[/name_u], [name_f]Ginger[/name_f], [name_f]Liza[/name_f], [name_f]Melinda[/name_f], [name_u]Penny[/name_u] (which I would use on its own here instead of as a short form of [name_f]Penelope[/name_f]), or [name_f]Roxanne[/name_f]/[name_f]Roxanna[/name_f]. I’ve bolded all of my favorites.
PS A brother for [name_m]Marshall[/name_m]? I could really see [name_u]Dean[/name_u]. Or, for a name that fits but launches the set into a preppy direction, [name_m]Grant[/name_m].
I agree with the comments above-- [name_m]Marshall[/name_m] is a sturdy name that needs something strong to balance it. If you really like the -E ending sound: [name_f]Audrey[/name_f], [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f], [name_f]Lucy[/name_f], [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f], [name_f]Zoe[/name_f]. For the E- names: [name_f]Eliza[/name_f], [name_f]Elise[/name_f], [name_f]Eloise[/name_f], [name_f]Emma[/name_f], [name_f]Edith[/name_f], [name_f]Ellen[/name_f], [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f], [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u]. [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] as a longer fn with nn [name_f]Lily[/name_f] or [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f]/[name_f]Rosamond[/name_f] nn [name_f]Rosie[/name_f] would work well too.
Some other possibilities: [name_f]Alice[/name_f], [name_f]Caroline[/name_f], [name_f]Clara[/name_f], [name_f]Helen[/name_f]/[name_f]Helena[/name_f], [name_f]Juliet[/name_f], [name_f]Louisa[/name_f], [name_f]Susannah[/name_f], [name_f]Theresa[/name_f], [name_u]Vivian[/name_u].
don’t use sadie it sounds like sad die - [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] is nicer, or [name_f]Pearl[/name_f], [name_f]Opal[/name_f] or [name_f]Vita[/name_f]. What about [name_f]Lola[/name_f]?
Any HIMYM fans here? [name_m]Marshall[/name_m] and [name_f]Lily[/name_f] are a couple played by [name_m]Jason[/name_m] Segel and [name_f]Alyson[/name_f] Hannigan. It’s like [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] and [name_u]Ricky[/name_u]. I really like davisellu’s suggestions of [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] and [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u]. You could use [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] or [name_f]Marguerite[/name_f] with the nickname [name_f]Daisy[/name_f]. Or, I like [name_m]Marshall[/name_m] with floral name [name_f]Violet[/name_f].
