Hello!
Yesterday we found out that we are expecting a girl! Big Brothers name is [name_m]Nash[/name_m] and I’m looking for a southern sounding name to go with his. I like things that are a little different… Here are a few names that I have come up with. Would love ideas and thoughts on some of these. Middle name may be [name_f]Mae[/name_f] but not 100% yet(family name.) Any fun names you can think of send them my way please!
I can definitely see the appeal of [name_f]Dixie[/name_f] but I personally think it has too much teasing potential. However, I must admit [name_f]Pixie[/name_f] is a massive guilty pleasure name for, do you like [name_f]Pixie[/name_f]?
Ritzy sounds very childish, while [name_u]Lou[/name_u] and [name_f]Lena[/name_f] are nicknames. [name_u]Olly[/name_u] is completely masculine and a nickname.
[name_f]Winslet[/name_f] is definitely my favourite, it’s lovely and I think [name_f]Winnie[/name_f] is an adorable nickname.
Would you be open to longer names and using some of the names you listed as a nickname?
[name_u]Lou[/name_u]–Nickname for [name_f]Lucy[/name_f]
[name_f]Leni[/name_f]–Nickname for [name_f]Helena[/name_f]
[name_u]Olly[/name_u]–Possibly a nickname for [name_f]Olive[/name_f]
[name_f]Winslet[/name_f]–Could possibly use [name_f]Winnie[/name_f]
I would nix these:
[name_f]Dixie[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f]
Ritzy [name_f]Mae[/name_f]
Besides these names, how about:
[name_f]Hattie[/name_f]
[name_f]Willa[/name_f]
[name_u]Harper[/name_u]
[name_u]Marlowe[/name_u]
[name_u]Waverly[/name_u]
[name_f]Olive[/name_f]
[name_f]Bea[/name_f]
I like the sound of all your options. The only one that makes me slightly concerned is Ritzy which is used to describe “snobs” in my experience. In that line, though, I had a friend named [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] who went by Bits. I could see [name_f]Bitsy[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f] or [name_f]Bitsy[/name_f] [name_u]Lou[/name_u] maybe appealing (?)
Others:
[name_f]Minnie[/name_f] (Possibly short for [name_f]Minerva[/name_f] or [name_f]Minette[/name_f])
[name_f]Zuzu[/name_f] ([name_f]Susannah[/name_f])
[name_f]Hattie[/name_f] ([name_f]Henrietta[/name_f])
[name_f]Polly[/name_f]
[name_f]Mona[/name_f] (I had a great aunt named [name_f]Mona[/name_f]-[name_f]Belle[/name_f])
Those are what I can think of. I personally love [name_u]Olly[/name_u] as well. “Southern” style names are a definite style choice that folks seem to be divided on. If you like that style, find a combo that you love and run with it!
I love [name_f]Winnie[/name_f] and [name_f]Winslet[/name_f] would be a great way to get there (as would [name_f]Winola[/name_f], imo). [name_m]Nash[/name_m] and [name_f]Winnie[/name_f] are great!
Or:
[name_f]Mitzi[/name_f] (I guess it’s the spelling, because this totally doesn’t make me think of ditzy)
[name_f]Trixie[/name_f]
[name_f]Polly[/name_f]
[name_f]Lavender[/name_f]
Here are my suggestions:
[name_u]Paisley[/name_u] [name_f]Mae[/name_f]
Rizlee [name_f]Mae[/name_f]
Quinley [name_f]Mae[/name_f]
Renleigh [name_f]Mae[/name_f]
[name_u]Dakota[/name_u] “[name_m]Dax[/name_m]” [name_f]Mae[/name_f]
[name_f]Charlotte/name_f
[name_f]Alabama[/name_f]
[name_u]Raleigh[/name_u]
I love [name_u]Lennon[/name_u] for a girl, and [name_f]Leni[/name_f] could definitely be a nick name.
