A sister for Poppy... HELP!

ETA: This post was perviously called “[name]Poppy[/name] and her sister [name]Mia[/name] or [name]Clare[/name]?”, but I want to open it for more options. We can’t find the perfect girl name!

Our daughter is [name]Poppy[/name] and she is getting a sister this summer… We are thinking [name]Mia[/name] or [name]Clare[/name]. Which do you think works better? I am the [name]Mia[/name] fan, my DH is the [name]Clare[/name] fan.

I posted on the other thread of the same name.

I think [name]Poppy[/name] and [name]Mia[/name] are lovely. [name]Love[/name] the name [name]Poppy[/name]. [name]Just[/name] out of interest, what is her middle name?

[name]Mia[/name] and [name]Clare[/name] are both nice names but i dont think they stand up to the spunky [name]Poppy[/name].

I’m afraid of this too. [name]Poppy[/name]'s middle name is [name]Anne[/name]. I want something as equally feminine and bright as [name]Poppy[/name], but not too matchy…no flower/nature names, names ending in long “E” sound, etc…

[name]Mia[/name] [name]Ciel[/name], and it prn as ‘sea elle’

I’m just going to suggest some other names that I think go nicely with [name]Poppy[/name]. I think both [name]Mia[/name] and [name]Clare[/name] are too common with [name]Poppy[/name], which is spunky, cute and unusual. Let us know if you like any (I didn’t include any flower or “ee” ending names per request!):

[name]Pearl[/name] (I don’t consider this a nature name, though some do)
[name]Louisa[/name]/[name]Lucia[/name] ([name]Lulu[/name]?)

[name]Hope[/name] that helps!

I think [name]Beatrix[/name] or [name]Clementine[/name] would be adorable with poppy!

I like the pp’s suggestion of [name]Louisa[/name] (or something else that gets you to the nickname [name]Lulu[/name]). [name]Poppy[/name] & [name]Lulu[/name] are really cute. I love [name]Poppy[/name] [name]Anne[/name]. I was thinking of [name]Poppy[/name] [name]Annabel[/name] if I have a girl.

Other poster have already made great lists. I like [name]Mia[/name] and [name]Clara[/name] as middle names. I really like [name]Zara[/name], [name]Jemima[/name], [name]Delilah[/name], Athaliah, [name]Saffron[/name] (too matchy it’s a spice?), [name]Clio[/name]/cleo, [name]Cameo[/name] and [name]Delphina[/name]. [name]Do[/name] you like any of the names we have suggested? If i know a couple you like I can suggest more in the same style.

Here’s the other names on our list if it helps…

[name]Mabel[/name] - [name]LOVE[/name] this so much, but DH not too keen… cute and spunky nn [name]Mae[/name], right? Wish I could convince him. He thinks it sounds dowdy

[name]Mary[/name] - Common, I know, but feminine and sweet too, like [name]Poppy[/name].

[name]Clare[/name] - Sweet, light sounding, feminine. The only name my DH really likes on the list.

[name]Mia[/name] - DH doesn’t like, so its probably out

[name]Jane[/name] - DH likes, I’m not totally sold on it

[name]Alice[/name] - we both love this one. Sweet, feminine, spunky. Beautiful literary connection with [name]Alice[/name] in Wonderland

[name]Mabel[/name]-- [name]Mabel[/name] is lovely, and I do like it with [name]Poppy[/name]! [name]Mae[/name] is a nice nickname, too… You may also like [name]ANNABEL[/name] or [name]ESME[/name]…

[name]Mary[/name]-- Actually, I don’t think [name]Mary[/name] is that common. In fact, it’s decreasing in popularity, and is now out of the Top 100 (US)… I agree, it’s feminine and sweet, but not quite as spunky as [name]Poppy[/name], though it is a great name… Also, both [name]Poppy[/name] and [name]Mary[/name] are two syllables and end in the long E sound…

[name]Clare[/name]-- I do like [name]Clare[/name], but, like [name]Mary[/name], it doesn’t feel as spunky as [name]Poppy[/name]…

[name]Mia[/name]-- I agree, if your husband doesn’t like it, it’s probably not the best choice…

[name]Jane[/name]-- [name]Jane[/name] is lovely, but I like the others a bit better with [name]Poppy[/name]… This would be a great middle name (I think [name]Jane[/name] works very well with [name]Anne[/name]…) You may also like [name]JUNE[/name].

[name]Alice[/name]-- I love [name]Alice[/name], and it’s great with [name]Poppy[/name] (both have that whimsical, spunky feel-- [name]Alice[/name] probably because of [name]Alice[/name] in Wonderland…)! The literary association is great, too…

Okay, so I’m assuming that you’re leaning towards [name]Alice[/name], since that’s the one you both love, correct? [name]Poppy[/name] [name]Anne[/name] and [name]Alice[/name] [name]Jane[/name] would work well, as would [name]Poppy[/name] [name]Anne[/name] and [name]Alice[/name] [name]Mary[/name]…

Good luck!

I love [name]Mia[/name]! but I also agree with previous posters, there both not as spunky as [name]Poppy[/name]
I am going to give you a list, I don’t know where you are so if you see a name like [name]Freya[/name] or [name]Emma[/name], I’m sorry!

[name]Freya[/name](I had too, it was the first name I thought of when I saw [name]Poppy[/name]

[name]Eira[/name](I like it prn. Eye-rah)

The * ones go the best with [name]Poppy[/name]( I judged it with sound and how serious they sound next to light, happy [name]Poppy[/name].

P.S. One last question: What is [name]Poppy[/name]'s MN?

[name]Mabel[/name] is one of my favorite names [name]EVER[/name]!

[name]Poppy[/name] and [name]Mae[/name] would be really lovely!

hello again,

I do like the names on your list. I can easily see [name]Alice[/name], [name]Mabel[/name] and [name]Clara[/name] as sisters BUT I cant see any of them as sisters to [name]Poppy[/name]. [name]Poppy[/name] is old fashion like the girls on your list but spunkyer. I see [name]Poppy[/name] being a sister to:

[name]Do[/name] u like any of these names?

[name]Poppy[/name] [name]Ann[/name] is very cute…

[name]How[/name] about [name]Matilda[/name] and [name]Mia[/name] for short? or [name]Tilly[/name]

[name]Poppy[/name] and [name]Tilly[/name] are cute!
[name]Poppy[/name] and Francia
[name]Poppy[/name] and [name]Louisa[/name]
[name]Poppy[/name] and [name]Lucy[/name] my fav!

I like [name]Poppy[/name] and [name]Piper[/name]

I love the name [name]Mia[/name] for its meaning. It means Mine.

[name]Poppy[/name] is my [name]FAVORITE[/name] girls name! I saw you mentioned [name]Jane[/name], but I think [name]June[/name] is much spunkier and fits better with [name]Poppy[/name].
