A sister for Ruby. Not a vintage name?

We have our sweet [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] and just found out we are having another girl! The problem is, [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] is a vintage name, and most vintage names we don’t like. [name_f]My[/name_f] husband loves [name_f]Emma[/name_f], but it’s way to common for me to use. [name_f]My[/name_f] top name right now is Scotlyn. We love to travel and I feel like this name is one of adventure. I know it doesn’t necessarily “go” well with [name_u]Ruby[/name_u]. I would LOVE suggestions for first and middle name, please!

Ruby and…

Scarlett
Hazel
Violet
Sailor
Genevieve

I know a [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] and her sisters are named [name_f]Katie[/name_f] (but she’s called by her middle name, [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f]) and her other sister is [name_f]Poppy[/name_f]

I really like [name_f]Nora[/name_f] with [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] but I guess that’s probably vintage? Maybe [name_u]Noa[/name_u] or [name_f]Alba[/name_f]? May would also be a really nice option as it’s timeless IMO.

We have [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] on our middle name list! [name_f]Isla[/name_f] is pretty too!

Oh nice! [name_f]Isla[/name_f] [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] would be sweet.

Poppy is fun! I wonder if you could use it as a nickname for a more formal name?

[name_f]Mila[/name_f]
[name_f]Becca[/name_f]
[name_f]Jane[/name_f]
[name_f]Anna[/name_f]
[name_f]Iris[/name_f]
[name_f]Ava[/name_f]
[name_f]Claire[/name_f]

[name_f]Gemma[/name_f]
[name_f]Lila[/name_f]
[name_f]Lola[/name_f]
[name_f]Roxie[/name_f] / [name_f]Roxy[/name_f]
[name_f]Leah[/name_f]
[name_u]Nova[/name_u]
[name_f]Hope[/name_f]
[name_f]Penelope[/name_f] (could have nickname [name_f]Poppy[/name_f])
[name_f]Diana[/name_f]
[name_u]Willow[/name_u]

I like [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] as a full name for [name_f]Poppy[/name_f].

Scarlett would be a great suggestion if it wasn’t another shade of red – feels a little too match-y with [name_u]Ruby[/name_u].

Non-vintage, somewhere between [name_f]Emma[/name_f] and Scotlyn:
[name_u]Arden[/name_u]
[name_u]Emery[/name_u]
[name_f]Esme[/name_f]
[name_u]Hadley[/name_u]
[name_u]Larkin[/name_u]
[name_f]Maren[/name_f]
[name_u]Mirren[/name_u]
[name_f]Winslet[/name_f]

I prefer [name_f]Scotland[/name_f] to Scotlyn — very cool and more distinctive, since it doesn’t have that popular -lyn ending.

I also really like [name_f]Ireland[/name_f] and [name_u]Holland[/name_u], if either of those appeal?

I absolutely adore your daughter’s name! I can see what you mean about feeling a bit locked into a certain naming style–one you don’t necessarily love in general. I don’t think sibling names have to “go together”, but I do kind of love when they do, so I understand wanting that! I’ll second a bunch of the previous suggestions, because there are some that feel so perfect to me that I think they deserve another mention:

Isla
[name_f]Lila[/name_f]
[name_f]Mila[/name_f]
[name_u]Larkin[/name_u]
[name_u]Piper[/name_u]
[name_u]Nova[/name_u]
[name_f]Esme[/name_f]
[name_f]Maren[/name_f]
[name_f]Georgia[/name_f]
[name_u]Willow[/name_u]

I would also add:

Lena
[name_f]Maya[/name_f]
[name_f]Celia[/name_f]
[name_f]Bella[/name_f]
[name_f]Molly[/name_f]
[name_f]Kira[/name_f]
[name_f]Anya[/name_f]
[name_f]Bria[/name_f]
[name_f]Adele[/name_f]
[name_f]Colette[/name_f]
[name_u]Teagan[/name_u]
[name_u]Ellery[/name_u]
[name_f]Emmeline[/name_f]
[name_f]Lainey[/name_f]
[name_f]Laurel[/name_f]
[name_f]Amelie[/name_f]
[name_f]Maris[/name_f]
[name_f]Brynn[/name_f]

Hmm I feel there’s a couple different ways to brainstorm for [name_u]Ruby[/name_u]. Vintage could be one…

Ella, [name_f]Elsie[/name_f], [name_f]Mae[/name_f], [name_f]Olive[/name_f], [name_f]Ines[/name_f]…

There’s biblical ones:
[name_f]Faith[/name_f], [name_f]Ruth[/name_f], [name_f]Bethel[/name_f], [name_f]Eve[/name_f], [name_f]Esther[/name_f], [name_f]Joy[/name_f], [name_f]Leah[/name_f], [name_f]Chloe[/name_f], [name_f]Naomi[/name_f], [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f], [name_f]Hannah[/name_f], [name_f]Sarah[/name_f], [name_f]Mary[/name_f]

There’s [name_u]Nature[/name_u]-related ones to match the nature related if [name_u]Ruby[/name_u]:
[name_f]Emerald[/name_f], [name_f]Violet[/name_f], [name_f]Rose[/name_f], [name_f]Iris[/name_f], [name_f]Lily[/name_f], [name_f]Opal[/name_f], [name_f]Pearl[/name_f], [name_f]Birdie[/name_f], [name_f]Daisy[/name_f], [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f], [name_u]River[/name_u]

And there’s unisex names…
[name_u]Brooklyn[/name_u]
[name_u]Emerson[/name_u]
[name_f]Locklyn[/name_f]
[name_u]Riley[/name_u]
[name_u]Jordan[/name_u]
[name_u]Rowan[/name_u]

I actually kinda like the “EE” ones with [name_u]Ruby[/name_u]. And I think shirt and sweet seem to flow best.

Ruby and…

Winslet
[name_u]Willow[/name_u]
[name_f]Saffron[/name_f]
[name_f]Erin[/name_f]
[name_f]Mila[/name_f]
[name_u]Journey[/name_u]
[name_f]Jovie[/name_f]
[name_f]Zara[/name_f]
[name_u]Holland[/name_u]

Some ideas off the top of my head (sorry for any repeats):

Taryn
[name_u]Oakley[/name_u]
[name_u]Mallory[/name_u]
[name_u]Cedar[/name_u]
[name_f]Paige[/name_f]
[name_f]Sera[/name_f]
[name_u]Brooklyn[/name_u]
[name_u]Aspen[/name_u]
[name_u]Eden[/name_u]
[name_u]Piper[/name_u]
[name_f]Autumn[/name_f]
[name_u]Sage[/name_u]
[name_u]Paisley[/name_u]
[name_u]Sailor[/name_u]
[name_f]Maren[/name_f]

Oh I really like the suggestions of [name_f]Locklyn[/name_f] and [name_u]Hollis[/name_u]. I kinda like Scotlyn as it feels fresh
There are already some great suggestions here but I will add
[name_m]Emrys[/name_m]
[name_u]Blair[/name_u]
[name_u]Blaine[/name_u]
[name_m]Jacoby[/name_m]
[name_f]Amara[/name_f]
[name_f]Marine[/name_f]

Ruby and…
[name_f]Tess[/name_f]
[name_u]Saylor[/name_u]
[name_f]Willa[/name_f]
[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]
[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] “[name_f]Elsie[/name_f]/Eliza”
[name_f]Emme[/name_f]

Count any repeats as seconds!

Since your husband loves [name_f]Emma[/name_f], have you considered [name_f]Gemma[/name_f]? [name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] or [name_f]Emilia[/name_f]?

I suggest [name_m]Britain[/name_m]

I’ve already listed some suggestions but I want to second the suggestion of [name_f]Tess[/name_f]! [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] and [name_f]Tess[/name_f] is perfection!

I also have a few to add: [name_f]Tessa[/name_f], [name_u]Quinn[/name_u], [name_u]Sloane[/name_u], [name_f]April[/name_f], [name_f]Maeve[/name_f], [name_u]Harlow[/name_u], [name_u]Everly[/name_u], [name_u]Reese[/name_u], [name_f]Aria[/name_f], [name_f]Romana[/name_f], [name_u]Teagan[/name_u], [name_f]Cassia[/name_f], and [name_u]Simone[/name_u]
