A sister for Sebastian and Tobias -- inspiration desperately needed!

We already have two sons called [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] ([name_m]Seb[/name_m] for short) and [name_m]Tobias[/name_m] ([name_u]Toby[/name_u] for short) and we are now pregnant with a long waited little girl. Sadly though, having your daughter be the last within the extended family of cousins means that a lot of names are out because they are too near to cousins’ names.

When pregnant with [name_m]Seb[/name_m] we loved [name_f]Clara[/name_f] but now I have a niece called [name_f]Cara[/name_f], I’ve always loved [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] and [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] but we have a newly born [name_f]Eva[/name_f] in the family, the list goes on and on!

So back to drawing board, so far the only name we have that we really love is [name_f]Della[/name_f] (THANK GOD that nobody decided to use the ever popular [name_f]Ella[/name_f] in the family) but we want a few up our sleeves just as a precaution.

Any ideas and I would love to hear your thoughts on [name_f]Della[/name_f]! Also, any longer names that could be shortened to [name_f]Della[/name_f]?

[name_f]Della[/name_f] is lovely!! I’ve always liked it as a nickname for [name_f]Adele[/name_f] or [name_f]Adella[/name_f]. So pretty!

I really like [name_f]Della[/name_f]. The similarity to [name_f]Ella[/name_f] makes it familiar, but it still stands out. I do think it needs a fuller name to give it some weight like your son’s names.

I like
[name_f]Delilah[/name_f]
[name_f]Adella[/name_f]/[name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] (or any [name_u]Adel[/name_u]- based names)
[name_f]Cordelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Delphine[/name_f]
[name_f]Delores[/name_f] - nothing I would chose, but it would work.
[name_f]Danielle[/name_f]/[name_f]Daniela[/name_f]

I second the suggestion of [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] or [name_f]Adela[/name_f]/[name_f]Adella[/name_f] nn [name_f]Della[/name_f]. You could also use [name_f]Adelina[/name_f] with the nickname [name_f]Della[/name_f].

Are you looking for other suggestions too, or just longer names that could have the nickname [name_f]Della[/name_f]?

I like [name_f]Della[/name_f]! I would use [name_f]Della[/name_f] as the full name. Suggestions:

[name_f]Eloise[/name_f]
[name_f]Lenore[/name_f]
[name_f]Vivienne[/name_f]
[name_f]Magnolia[/name_f]
[name_f]Leona[/name_f]
[name_f]Lydia[/name_f]
[name_f]Georgia[/name_f]

I like [name_f]Della[/name_f]! I think [name_f]Adele[/name_f], [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f], [name_f]Adeline[/name_f], and [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] are all great longer name options.

[name_f]Della[/name_f] is great and you have some wonderful options (listed by pp) for full names. I would go for a full name with nn [name_f]Della[/name_f], since both of your sons go by nicknames. Their names are two of my very favorites, by the way!

[name_f]Della[/name_f] is very cute! Also, I personally don’t think it’s a huge issue to have cousins with very similar names. If you really love [name_f]Clara[/name_f] or [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] go for it! I have and know of siblings and cousins who have had very similar names ([name_f]Theresa[/name_f]/[name_f]Therese[/name_f], [name_m]Daniel[/name_m]/[name_f]Danielle[/name_f]) and it’s never been much of an issue. We even have two Peters born less than a year apart.

It doesn’t really bother me personally, however I don’t want to step on anybody’s toes. My sister got really upset when someone who she worked named their son [name_m]Jonas[/name_m] a few months after she used [name_m]Jonah[/name_m]. I’m worried that if she feels “betrayed” (her words not mine) by a colleague using it then I would probably be dead to her if I used [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] or [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f].

Ahh! Families, eh?
