A sister for Theo and Gus?

We have two little boys, [name]Theodore[/name] and [name]Augustus[/name] ([name]Theo[/name] and [name]Gus[/name]). If you were naming their little sister, what name would you give her?

We are open to suggestions! We’re not expecting baby 3, just dreaming!

[name]Cordelia[/name] nn [name]Cora[/name], [name]Cori[/name], or [name]Lia[/name]

I love both [name]Theo[/name] and [name]Gus[/name]! The first names that came to mind were [name]Violet[/name], [name]Eloise[/name], [name]Lucille[/name] ([name]Lucy[/name]), [name]Ruby[/name], [name]Eleanor[/name], [name]June[/name], and [name]Kate[/name].

I rather like [name]Madeleine[/name] with your sibset. [name]Theodore[/name], [name]Augustus[/name] and [name]Madeleine[/name] - [name]Theo[/name], [name]Gus[/name] and [name]Maddy[/name]. I think a long, classic name with a cute nn would go well with your boys.

I like the suggestion of [name]Eleanor[/name]. [name]Nora[/name] is a great nn option.

If [name]Theo[/name] had been a girl we’d have called him [name]Eleanor[/name] (nn [name]Nell[/name]). Now I wonder if the two ‘or’ sounds are too much and if people would think we had a thing for the Roosevelts!

Essjay, [name]Madeleine[/name] has been used by some good friends sadly. But your suggestion of a long name with a shorter nn is on the money!

I was going to say [name]Eleanor[/name] too. I didn’t think of the [name]Roosevelt[/name] connection but you do have a point. Two other ideas, [name]Beatrice[/name] (nn [name]Bea[/name]), [name]Penelope[/name] (could still nn [name]Nell[/name]).

Wow, great names! I really like [name]Caroline[/name], [name]Katherine[/name], [name]Elizabeth[/name], [name]Juliet[/name], [name]Lydia[/name], and [name]Ramona[/name] with [name]Theo[/name] and [name]Gus[/name]. Good luck! I’m sure you’ll chose something wonderful.

Maybe something on the old-fashioned/vintage side. That would probably suit [name]Theo[/name] and [name]Gus[/name] the best.

  • [name]Lillian[/name] (nickname [name]Lily[/name])
  • [name]Alice[/name]
  • [name]Philippa[/name] (nickname [name]Pippa[/name])
  • [name]Elizabeth[/name] (so many nickname ideas, my favourite is [name]Ellie[/name])
  • [name]Margaret[/name] (nickname [name]Maggie[/name])
  • [name]Eleanor[/name] (nickname [name]Ellie[/name])
  • [name]Rose[/name]
  • [name]Madeline[/name]/[name]Madelyn[/name] (nickname [name]Maddie[/name])
  • [name]Cora[/name]
  • [name]Georgia[/name] (nickname [name]Georgie[/name])
  • [name]Helena[/name]

Something along those lines…

I would name her [name]Matilda[/name] [name]Pearl[/name]. They all have this dusty vintage feel. It’s like a sibset picked right out of the nineteen-tens.

We have a niece called [name]Beatrice[/name], ruling that out, but I do love the name (she’s [name]Beatrice[/name] [name]Daphne[/name], divine)! [name]Penelope[/name] is a great alternative to [name]Eleanor[/name]. [name]Elizabeth[/name] could be an option, there’s a family connection. [name]Pearl[/name] is a fabulous middle name, must remember that. I hadn’t thought of [name]Lillian[/name]! Thanks for your input everyone, brilliant as always.

Eloise was the first name that came to mind, could be nn Lola or Lulu. Other ideas…
Penelope, nn Poppy
Ramona, nn Romy
Imogen, nn Ginny
Harriet, nn Hatsy or Hattie
Katherine, nn Kit or Kitty
Rosamond or Rosalyn
Amelia, nn Mia or Millie or Mimi or Minnie

I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Theodore[/name], [name]Augustus[/name], and [name]Harriet[/name]… [name]Theo[/name], [name]Gus[/name], and [name]Hattie[/name]

My LO was almost [name]Augustus[/name] [name]Jack[/name]! My girl choices are in my signature, but [name]Magnolia[/name] is my favorite.

louisa seems to go so does the simple [name]Elizabeth[/name].

HA! I had not read the above posts about [name]Elizabeth[/name]-it just seems to fit for me.

Wow araminta, that’s a long and fabulous list!

Some of the names are already taken ([name]Beatrice[/name], [name]Romilly[/name], [name]Violet[/name], [name]Daphne[/name]).

Of the others, I love -
[name]Harriet[/name] ([name]Hattie[/name]), but in Australia [name]Harri[/name] would be a more likely nn. This was high on the list if [name]Theo[/name] had been a girl.
[name]Eleanor[/name] ([name]Nora[/name]/[name]Nell[/name]), I love the nn [name]Nell[/name]
[name]Edith[/name] (I have a big crush on this)
[name]Florence[/name] ([name]Flora[/name])/[name]Flora[/name]
[name]Penelope[/name] ([name]Nell[/name]/[name]Penny[/name]/[name]Poppy[/name])

[name]Pearl[/name] is a possible middle name.

julia johanna - how funny that [name]Harriet[/name] sprung to mind for you. To me that’s the most obvious fit too!

goodkarmavt - I hadn’t thought of [name]Magnolia[/name]!

well I mentioned [name]Harriet[/name] too

I agree that [name]Nell[/name] (with a longer formal name) is a great match and [name]Edith[/name] nn [name]Edie[/name] would be supercute too!

Oops, sorry onelove19, [name]Harriet[/name] is indeed a great suggestion! As are [name]Nell[/name] and [name]Edith[/name].
