In my latest story, the main character’s name is [name]Laurel[/name] [name]Hugh[/name], but her best friend/love interest is stuck without one! Usually names come pretty easy to me, but this guy is proving to be a real headache.
He’s a tall guy, with black or dark drown hair, and brown eyes. Socially, he’s a bit awkward and quiet, since he’s a writer and his thoughts flow onto paper much better than into words. His mind is brilliant (he’s a better writer than I could ever hope to be :D) and he loves what he does. He has a very tender heart, and his emotions shine through his work. He writes about all sorts of things, but especially mystery and fantasy.
His age is around 20, a few years older than [name]Laurel[/name] and their names should work reasonably well with each other. His style is a bit preppy, but a little old-fashioned. (Is that helpful? I don’t know XD)
I’m liking exotic names for him, like unusual color names or maybe a Roman name. I’d like it to have a rich flavor, you know?
Another thing is that there should be a good nickname to combat the wierdness, something that’s short and easy to pronounce. (It is a book after all, and as he is a main character it has to be typed lots! :D)

I like [name]Cassius[/name], but my first thought when I read your title was “[name]Jude[/name], he should be a [name]Jude[/name]”. Fun to see I’m not the only one who thinks so!

[name]Caspian[/name] is good but I was worried about C.S. [name]Lewis[/name] fans!
I [name]LOVE[/name] the name [name]Asher[/name] but I’ve already used it for a character in a different book. [name]Zephyr[/name] is good too, but there’s the issue of no good nicknames… XD
I also like [name]Jude[/name] but I think it’s a little too normal, you know?
My reason behind wanted something so unusual for him is because his parents are VERY wealthy, and were concerned about naming him something too “commonplace”. They never wanted him to share anything, with anyone. He’s an only child and they put all their energy into making him perfect… needless to stay they weren’t pleased when they found out he wanted to be a writer! (They also don’t approve of [name]Laurel[/name], because she encourages his writing.) He has a very rocky relationship with his parents and was very eager to move out as soon as he turned 18. I guess you could say they’re “estranged”, but they still talk every once in a while. XD (I’ve kind of overthought him a bit…LOL)
