A suggestion at last! Full name for Otto?

[name_f]My[/name_f] boyfriend finally suggested another name. [name_m]Otto[/name_m]. It is kinda cute, but I’m not sold on it. I think maybe if he had a full name with [name_m]Otto[/name_m] as a nickname I would be more on board. Any ideas?

He is pushing for it as is and suggested [name_m]Otto[/name_m] [name_m]Xavier[/name_m] and [name_m]Otto[/name_m] [name_m]Maximus[/name_m].
[name_f]Do[/name_f] you think [name_m]Otto[/name_m] is better on its own or as a nickname?

I love [name_m]Otto[/name_m] on its own. I’m not sure what it could be a nickname for. Maybe [name_m]Otis[/name_m]? But I love [name_m]Otto[/name_m] much more. It is cute, yet strong and handsome.

I’m one of the people who just can’t see the charm in this name. I think it’s heavy and Germanic. I can’t think of any names that contain that “ought” sound that would make for a good namesake either.

Well, if I do use just [name_m]Otto[/name_m], I feel like a need a hyper masculine name to balance out the cuteness of [name_m]Otto[/name_m]. Seeing as how the last name is one sylabul, I feel like it should be a long name, too.

I have a few friend’s who have recently used [name_m]Otto[/name_m] for their little boy’s, and they chose [name_m]Otto[/name_m] as a full name. I actually quite like it too- much nicer than [name_m]Otis[/name_m] in my opinion.

I like [name_m]Otto[/name_m] [name_m]Xavier[/name_m]:

Could [name_m]Octavio[/name_m]/[name_m]Octavius[/name_m] get the nickname [name_m]Otto[/name_m]? What if I used a middle name that started with a T and had an O, could it work then?

[name_m]Otto[/name_m] is a great name! One we will use if we ever have a boy. [name_m]Othello[/name_m] could be a possible long form, but I think [name_m]Otto[/name_m] can stand alone. Good luck!

I think [name_m]Otto[/name_m] [name_m]Xavier[/name_m] is awesome! You should definitely consider it!

I think [name_m]Otto[/name_m] stands best on its own, though it could work with initials O.T… especially if the “T” name has an “o” in it…

I love [name_m]Otto[/name_m] on its own. [name_m]Otto[/name_m] [name_m]Xavier[/name_m] is awesome!

Ooh just scrolled up and saw your post re [name_m]Octavio[/name_m]. Sound-wise it works, but it would bother me that they are totally different names with different histories.

I love the idea of getting the nickname [name_m]Otto[/name_m] from the initials O.T.!

A variant of [name_m]Octavio[/name_m] is [name_m]Ottavio[/name_m], I just thought you should know

I like [name_f]October[/name_f] more though ^^ [name_f]Autumn[/name_f] is my favourite season!
[name_m]Otto[/name_m] is fine on his own as well [name_f]IMO[/name_f].

Sorry if I am no longer on topic - I stopped reading after he post I’m responding to. But I think these are fabulous.

[name_m]Octavio[/name_m] and [name_m]Octavius[/name_m] feel like a mix between [name_m]Otto[/name_m] and [name_m]Maximus[/name_m] (Clearly [name_m]Octavius[/name_m] [name_m]Maximus[/name_m] is a little silly). It would allow you to use a big, regal [name_m]Roman[/name_m] Empire type name (which he seems to like) and you could then choose a mn that might be a little more what you like. I don’t know if I’m reading between the lines correctly but I feel like you are (mostly) liking a lot of his names are are particularly drawn to them because you know he likes them and he might be a little difficult with names otherwise. (FYI: I totally relate.)

Yes you are correct, haha, talking names with him is a huge struggle.

I like [name_m]Otto[/name_m] on its own more.

[name_m]Otto[/name_m] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] is a name pairing I like.

I know it’s been 9 years since the thread started lol. However I recently saw [name_m]Otoniel[/name_m] or Othoniel as a name that goes well with [name_m]Otto[/name_m]. I think it’s [name_u]French[/name_u] or Columbian ? Although, you can research it on your own too. I think it could sound [name_m]German[/name_m] especially if you pronounce the TH as a hard T. But seems like you could look up different pronunciations and pick one you like. I heard at least three different pronunciations when googling the name online.
