A Tribute to Lisa

I know several wonderful, inspirational women named [name_u]Lisa[/name_u], but I honestly don’t like the name. (I think it sounds a little dated, and I can’t really see a little girl named [name_u]Lisa[/name_u].) What are some good names to honor a [name_u]Lisa[/name_u]?

Side note: I do really like the nickname [name_f]Lise[/name_f]/[name_f]Leese[/name_f] for [name_u]Lisa[/name_u], but I don’t know if that could work as a given name.

[name_f]Liesel[/name_f]/[name_f]Liesl[/name_f]!!! Could be also nicknamed [name_f]Lise[/name_f]/[name_f]Leese[/name_f]!

Or [name_f]Annaliese[/name_f]/[name_f]Analisa[/name_f]/[name_f]Annalisa[/name_f]?

[name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f]
[name_f]Lisette[/name_f]
[name_f]Annaliese[/name_f]

[name_f]Lissie[/name_f] (like the singer)

[name_f]Elisa[/name_f] was my first idea, but it has the sound of [name_u]Lisa[/name_u] in it, so… literally any other form of [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] would do? [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f], [name_f]Eliza[/name_f], [name_f]Eliska[/name_f], [name_f]Lisette[/name_f], [name_f]Elise[/name_f], [name_f]Elisabetta[/name_f], [name_f]Lillian[/name_f], [name_f]Liesel[/name_f], etc.!

I love the suggestion of [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f], too—or any of its variants, like [name_f]Annalisa[/name_f], which I think is super sweet too!

(Or any compound name ending in -lise like Adelise, Evelise, Emmelise, etc.?)

What about just [name_f]Elise[/name_f]? It has the [name_f]Lise[/name_f]/[name_f]Leese[/name_f] sound you are looking for, and lends itself to that exact nickname. Obviously [name_f]Elisa[/name_f] is even closer, but if you are not too fond of [name_u]Lisa[/name_u] that may be TOO close.

Leisl was the first one that came to my mind.

[name_f]Alisa[/name_f]/Aleesa

[name_f]Alisia[/name_f]/[name_f]Alicia[/name_f]

[name_f]Allis[/name_f]/ [name_f]Alice[/name_f]

Lisi/ Leecy

I’m a big fan of [name_f]Elisa[/name_f] and [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] as options for you!

[name_f]Elise[/name_f], [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f], [name_f]Annalise[/name_f], [name_f]Leah[/name_f]

I went to school with a really lovely girl with the name Liesen.
Pr: Lease-en. [name_u]Unique[/name_u] but not so weird that people couldn’t pronounce it.

I like [name_f]Elisa[/name_f], because the connection is very clear, but the name has a very different feel (timeless rather than dated, also close enough to the now common [name_f]Elsa[/name_f] to feel contemporary as well).

I also recently met a little girl named [name_u]Lee[/name_u]-za, I’m not sure how that would be spelled (I’d think Lye-za would be more common for [name_f]Liza[/name_f]), but I thought it was very pretty, a contemporary update to [name_u]Lisa[/name_u].

I have also met a Nee-sa (in her case spelled [name_f]Nissa[/name_f], which is a little confusing, but I think Nisa would work),and [name_u]Risa[/name_u] ([name_f]Ree[/name_f]-sa). I’m not sure if those names seem too different from [name_u]Lisa[/name_u], but changing one letter might be something to consider–it could also work to get you [name_f]Lila[/name_f] ([name_u]Lee[/name_u]-la) or [name_f]Lina[/name_f] (lee-na).

[name_f]Adelisa[/name_f], [name_f]Alisa[/name_f], [name_f]Ailsa[/name_f]
[name_f]Belle[/name_f]/[name_f]Bella[/name_f], [name_f]Bess[/name_f], [name_f]Bethan[/name_f]/[name_f]Bethany[/name_f]
[name_f]Elspeth[/name_f], [name_f]Elle[/name_f]/[name_f]Ella[/name_f]/[name_f]Ellie[/name_f] (in addition to being a dimuntive of [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], as [name_u]Lisa[/name_u] is, this is also a nod to the way the first letter of [name_u]Lisa[/name_u] is pronounced)
[name_f]Ilsa[/name_f]
[name_f]Louisa[/name_f], [name_u]Lee[/name_u]/[name_u]Leigh[/name_u], [name_f]Lila[/name_f], [name_f]Lily[/name_f], [name_f]Libby[/name_f], Lisabelle, Liselle, Lisolette, [name_f]Liz[/name_f], [name_f]Lace[/name_f]/[name_f]Lacey[/name_f], [name_f]Lyra[/name_f], [name_f]Larissa[/name_f], [name_f]Louisiana[/name_f], Lysandra, [name_f]Lystra[/name_f], [name_f]Lucinda[/name_f], [name_f]Lucia[/name_f], [name_f]Lucy[/name_f]
[name_f]Talisa[/name_f]

You could use a first and middle name combination to honor [name_u]Lisa[/name_u] – for example: [name_f]Leona[/name_f] [name_u]Sage[/name_u], [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] [name_f]Sabelle[/name_f], [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] [name_f]Sarah[/name_f], [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f], [name_f]Laurel[/name_f] [name_f]Serena[/name_f], [name_u]Leighton[/name_u] [name_f]Savannah[/name_f], [name_m]Landon[/name_m] [name_u]Sawyer[/name_u], etc.
