In a “names I’d actually use” way, my favorite is [name_f]Tessa[/name_f]. I had an amazing professor in college named [name_f]Tessa[/name_f] and her name stuck with me. I think she’d be a wonderful namesake.
In a “guilty pleasure” way, definitely [name_u]Raleigh[/name_u]. I actually have a character in mind who I may call [name_u]Raleigh[/name_u].
I like [name_u]Raleigh[/name_u]…had a friend who hailed from there…“God’s country,” as she put it.
[name_u]Aubrey[/name_u], classic, beautiful and strong. Plus I just love ‘Au’ names.
I love [name_u]Bryn[/name_u]/[name_f]Brynn[/name_f] but feel it might not hold up as a full first name. Next I would pick [name_f]Tessa[/name_f].
Thank you everyone both for your votes and your comments explaining why! (:
[name_f]Tessa[/name_f] is my favorite, but I also like [name_u]Aubrey[/name_u].
[name_f]Tessa[/name_f] just seems friendly and unassuming.
[name_u]Aubrey[/name_u] has a pleasant sound.
I don’t like any of the others.
[name_u]Raleigh[/name_u] is on my boys list.
[name_f]Brynn[/name_f] is fine but feels like a nn to me.
[name_f]Bronwyn[/name_f] feels bulky and cumbersome.
[name_u]Delaine[/name_u] looks like someone smacked a D’ on the front of [name_f]Elaine[/name_f] like [name_m]Dwayne[/name_m] or D’[name_u]Andre[/name_u]
I voted [name_f]Tessa[/name_f], it’s just so pretty and I love it
[name_u]Aubrey[/name_u] feels quite trendy (and similar to [name_f]Audrey[/name_f], which I hate), [name_u]Bryn[/name_u] is a boys’ name and [name_u]Raleigh[/name_u] doesn’t sound particularly feminine either
[name_u]Delaine[/name_u] and [name_f]Bronwyn[/name_f] (but spelled the feminine Bronwen) are quite nice names, just nms
It looks like [name_f]Tessa[/name_f] and [name_u]Aubrey[/name_u] are the most popular! Thank you everyone!
I am not a fan of any of them except [name_f]Tessa[/name_f]
Oh, this is quite uncanny! It’s almost exactly what I would have written!!
I adore [name_f]Tessa[/name_f], quite like [name_u]Aubrey[/name_u], and don’t like any of the others for precisely the same reasons! (I have always found [name_f]Bronwyn[/name_f]/[name_f]Bronwen[/name_f] a very ‘heavy’ name, too.)
Of all these, the only one I like is [name_f]Bronwyn[/name_f] (though I do like the traditional [name_f]Bronwen[/name_f] spelling better). I think it’s beautiful and I love pretty much anything that comes with the nickname [name_f]Winnie[/name_f].
[name_f]Brynn[/name_f] is alright, but it’s very similar in sound to [name_f]Bronwyn[/name_f], and I think [name_f]Bronwyn[/name_f] wins - you could even use [name_f]Brynn[/name_f] as a nickname for [name_f]Bronwyn[/name_f] if you wanted.
[name_u]Delaine[/name_u] feels unfinished. I want to say [name_u]Delaney[/name_u].
[name_u]Aubrey[/name_u] just reminds me of [name_u]Aubrey[/name_u] O’[name_u]Day[/name_u], which is not a good association; plus, it sounds just like [name_f]Audrey[/name_f], and I’ve never really liked that name. It feels like [name_u]Ashley[/name_u] to me - stereotypical, overly sweet, frilly, but without any loveliness or romance.
I knew a girl named [name_u]Raleigh[/name_u] who was a snob, and I can’t disconnect it, but it’s an okay name.
[name_f]Tessa[/name_f], for some reason, even with the -a ending, sounds so masculine to me. It isn’t the worst name ever, but it’s on my Over My Dead Body list.
