I absolutely love hot air balloons, and hot air ballooning has been a big part of my life. It would be really great to have names that pay homage to this, but I keep coming up with nothing. Any suggestions are appreciated!
Aero (m) air

Pilatre De Rozier → [name_f]Roz[/name_f]?

[name_u]Jean[/name_u] [name_m]Pierre[/name_m] [name_m]Blanchard[/name_m] & [name_m]John[/name_m] [name_m]Jefferies[/name_m]
[name_f]France[/name_f] → [name_f]Francine[/name_f]?, [name_u]Francis[/name_u]?, [name_f]Frances[/name_f]?
I’m only naming a few:

Scottsdale, [name_u]Arizona[/name_u] → [name_u]Scott[/name_u]?
Albuquerque, [name_u]New[/name_u] Mexico → [name_m]Albie[/name_m]?, [name_u]Nova[/name_u]?

[name_f]Lorraine[/name_f], [name_f]France[/name_f] → [name_f]Francine[/name_f]?, [name_u]Francis[/name_u]?, [name_f]Frances[/name_f]?
Maybe a name that honors the first passengers such as:
Sheep → [name_m]Ovid[/name_m]?
Rooster → Gallus (m)?
Duck → [name_m]Drake[/name_m]?
Because I watch QI a lot, I happen to know that [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] Thible was the first woman to fly an hot air balloon… So maybe you could so something with that?
And according to wikipedia the first men to make and fly in an hot air balloon were Jacques-Étienne and Joseph-Michel Montgolfier, so there’s that.
I’m afraid nothing else comes to mind at the moment.
[name_m]Zeppelin[/name_m] might work!
A possible meaning for [name_m]Theon[/name_m] is “to fly”
Thank you for such a thurough response!
I love the suggestions of winds and air names
I love that [name_f]Andra[/name_f] also means Moment and Eteri also means ether
Liwar is also a wonderful meening
Aero just feels like a name related to flight, I like it!
The names of the inventora are also great, I particularly like Rozier
I love that you brought up balloon festivals because one of those is where I live (hence why it’s important to me)
The suggestion of using the animal to fly in the balloon is funny and great! Thank you!
Thanks so much @shells15
@Rosebeth I love the suggestion of the first woman to fly! The early history is very male dominated
@skylerros [name_m]Zeppelin[/name_m] is great, I hadn’t thought about connecting that to hot air balloons, and Zeppeline is a lot closer to my usual style than a lot of other potentially related names
@ethelmary I’ve thought about [name_m]Theon[/name_m] before, but I never payed attention to it’s meaning, that’s great, thank you!
No problem. [name_f]Glad[/name_f] I could help.
TBH out of all the possible names from the inventors, Rozier is my favorite.
I tried to run a search on NB database last night, but the search feature was having some trouble. I listed what I could find, but you got me hooked on trying to find some more possible names.
I have had those same problems with the search feature on occassion! I’ll keep looking too and post here if I come up with anything!
How about [name_m]Phileas[/name_m], for [name_m]Phileas[/name_m] Fogg?

[name_u]Neil[/name_u], means cloud
