So here I thought that I had the boy names all figured out… the girl names were going to be the issue. I had a list of several boy’s names that I loved, and he hated them all (and this at 33 1/2 weeks pregnant). Please HELP!!
We have agreed on [name]Anneliese[/name] or [name]Linnea[/name] for a girl. Boy names I loved that he vetoed include (but are by no means limited to): [name]Everett[/name], [name]Emmett[/name], [name]Elliott[/name], [name]Clark[/name], [name]Grant[/name], [name]Andrew[/name] (liked for family reasons).
He is quite determined that the name be Dutch, Finnish, or [name]German[/name] (our main ancestries). Other possible ethicities would include Ukranian, Polish or Russian.
My requirement is that the name be easily pronounceable and spellable in English ([name]Canada[/name]). It also has to sound ok with the last name Schuurman (pronounced Skerman). I am by no means limiting names to our ethnic pool (obviously).
I told him that the onus was on him to find something I can live with, but I know that isn’t going to happen. Any suggestions you have would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.
[name]Aric[/name] (air-ik) I love this name more than I can say even though most people wouldn’t
[name]Anders[/name]
[name]Felix[/name]
[name]Lucas[/name] ([name]Luka[/name])
[name]Wendell[/name]
I like [name]Schuyler[/name] with your last name. It has a bit of something. And it is phenomenally Dutch. I knew someone with this name, and though the spelling could be a bit of a struggle, it is very easily pronounced.
I really think that with your last name, the first name should, as you say, be easy to spell, pronounce, and understand. I like the simple ideas of [name]Alex[/name] (or [name]Alexander[/name]), [name]Leo[/name], [name]Sam[/name] etc. You could also choose a name like [name]Henry[/name], which claims [name]German[/name] ancestry. If you want to go a bit more exotic, something like [name]Bram[/name] could work, but [name]Eero[/name] etc to me are too complicating.
