Adalie instead of other "Ad-" girl names?

Thoughts on [name_f]Adalie[/name_f]? How would you say it? Would it get constantly confused with “Natalie” because I pronounce it “add-uh-lee” in my head. [name_m]Loving[/name_m] the variation but it is rare compared to Adisson, [name_f]Adaline[/name_f], etc.

I don’t mind it, but it does blend in with all of the other [name_m]Ad[/name_m]- names for me. I would also say ADD-uh-lee, and then second guess that it might be AY-duh-lee. I think the [name_f]Adelie[/name_f] spelling is my favorite.

I would pronounce [name_f]Adalie[/name_f] the way you’re pronouncing it. I don’t think it would be confused with [name_f]Natalie[/name_f] all that often. I like the [name_f]Adelie[/name_f] spelling better but [name_f]Adalie[/name_f] is fine. [name_f]Adalie[/name_f] is much rarer than [name_f]Addison[/name_f] and [name_f]Adeline[/name_f].

Adalie is really beautiful !! She sounds very sweet, and it’s unique but also totally familiar and approachable. I’d say it the same way you do! I wouldn’t pronounce Natalie with a D sound in my accent, so I don’t see the similarities.

ADD-uh-lee is how I’d say it and I wouldn’t confuse it with [name_f]Natalie[/name_f] (NAT -uh-lee) - ADD and NAT sound very different when I say them :person_shrugging:

[name_f]Adalie[/name_f] is sort of musical and sweet

In my accent (east coast American) [name_f]Adalie[/name_f] and [name_f]Natalie[/name_f] do sound similar [Natalie is NAD-uh-lee, but the nickname [name_m]Nat[/name_m] has a hard t]. I think that [name_f]Adalie[/name_f] is distinct, especially is it is the first letter that is different. [name_m]Plenty[/name_m] of names sound somewhat like another name.

I’m in favor of the [name_f]Adelie[/name_f] spelling. It makes me think of the penguins.

I’m with others in preferring the [name_f]Adelie[/name_f] spelling - and, yes, I agree with @kmdharrington about the penguins! It’s a very cute association.
