Adaline or Adeline with the nickname Ada?

I’d much prefer the spelling [name_f]Adaline[/name_f] over [name_f]Adeline[/name_f], I hate the nicknames [name_f]Adele[/name_f], [name_f]Della[/name_f], [name_f]Addie[/name_f] but love [name_f]Ada[/name_f] (Rhymes with Ava), but would [name_f]Adaline[/name_f] be too problematic?

I don’t think it’s problematic. It’s a common enough spelling and makes the nickname more intuitive. I know a girl named [name_f]Adaline[/name_f], this spelling, that does go by [name_f]Ada[/name_f] almost exclusively.

Problematic in what way? People getting spelling wrong or saying it in a way you don’t want? [name_f]Do[/name_f] you want it to be Adda-Line (as in straight line), Adda-Lun, or are you really integrating [name_f]Ada[/name_f] - so Ayda-Lun or Ayda-Line (as in straight line)? Something else? This probably isn’t helping, proving you point. I think most people would say [name_f]Adaline[/name_f] like the first on list but maybe after my faff, [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] is the way to go and just start nn [name_f]Ada[/name_f] young. You could even aim for an A starting middle.

What about [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] nn [name_f]Ada[/name_f]?

I think [name_f]Adaline[/name_f] works. [name_f]Adaline[/name_f] is in the US Top 200 and with [name_f]Adelyn[/name_f], [name_f]Adelynn[/name_f], [name_f]Addilyn[/name_f], [name_f]Adalynn[/name_f] and [name_f]Adalyn[/name_f] in the top 1000, [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] would probably get wrong guesses too - so I think it’s best here just to use the one you love most

I prefer [name_f]Adeline[/name_f]! [name_f]Adaline[/name_f] seems a bit like [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] misspelled to me, but it could certainly still work! If you used [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] nn [name_f]Ada[/name_f], I don’t think people would just assume [name_f]Adele[/name_f] or [name_f]Della[/name_f] as nicknames; some might call her [name_f]Addie[/name_f] but that would be the same with either spelling. I also don’t really think that a certain spelling would be the reason people don’t call her Adele/Della since nicknames are often based on how the name sounds, not how it’s spelled. If people heard the name [name_f]Adaline[/name_f], they could still nickname it any of the names mentioned above since the sounds are all strong. However, if you were firm about using [name_f]Ada[/name_f], it would most likely stick with most people!

It works

[name_f]Adaline[/name_f] makes the most sense to me, if you want to get to [name_f]Ada[/name_f]
