Which do you like better?
How difficult would it be to get the pronunciation “line,” not “lyn”?
Are nicknames inevitable? (Addy, Maddie)

I prefer [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] though it is a very tough choice I don’t think getting the pronunciation right will be too much of a problem depending on where you live. Once you introduce them most people will pronounce it that way. They may have to correct people sometimes but overall I don’t think it’s that much of an issue.
I think that some friends may call Madeline/Adeline by a nickname at school but if she wants to go by her full name she can always tell them!
I prefer [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] and I’d naturally pronounce it as -line. I do think [name_f]Maddy[/name_f] and [name_f]Addy[/name_f] are likely
I like [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] better, but I do love both of those names! I think the “line” pronunciation wouldn’t be that difficult to get for either of them. I don’t think that nicknames are too inevitable, I know a [name_u]Madison[/name_u] and a [name_f]Cassandra[/name_f] that always go by their full names while having pretty intuitive nicknames. I do think that you have to be ready for the fact that they might want to go by the nn [name_f]Addy[/name_f] or [name_f]Maddie[/name_f] at one point, so if you really hate those nicknames then I would probably skip these names!
I probably prefer [name_f]Adeline[/name_f], but both are nice! I think people will be more inclined to pronounce [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] with the -line ending, because as @SparkleNinja18 once said, the pronunciation of [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] is just pure anarchy. As far as nicknames go, I think it’d be easier to avoid [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] getting called anything else than it would be for [name_f]Madeline[/name_f].
This is kind of what I was thinking but wondered if anyone else thought so.
The only -line I ever met spelled it [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] and all the other girls named [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] pronounced it -lyn (including my sister). I actually think I prefer [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] (-line) but I think [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] is far less likely to get -lyn.
[name_m]Hi[/name_m] there.
I like [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] a lot, but I really love [name_f]Adeline[/name_f]. It’s been one of my favorites for years & years. I’m so annoyed that [name_f]Adelyn[/name_f] is super popular though. I think that [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] is obviously Ad-uh-line. [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] should be obvious. I do feel like you’re more likely to get [name_f]Madelyn[/name_f] though than [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] is to get [name_f]Adelyn[/name_f]. And do I think [name_f]Addie[/name_f] & [name_f]Maddie[/name_f] are inevitable. Yeah, at least to some degree. I wouldn’t use either of these if you strongly dislike [name_f]Addie[/name_f] & [name_f]Maddie[/name_f]. [name_m]Even[/name_m] if other people don’t call her that, she may choose that she likes it herself at some point. I personally like [name_f]Addie[/name_f] more, even though every little girl is called [name_f]Addie[/name_f] these days.
[name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps.
I love [name_f]Madeline[/name_f], although I think it would get pronounced -lyn more often than -line. I know several Madalyn’s, but no Madeline’s. I do think think [name_f]Maddie[/name_f] is inevitable, but you can always tell people you prefer she goes by the full name.
I think [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] is pretty. Both names are pronounced differently by many people, so it’s hard to predict but I’d expect [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] to get the -line pronunciation more in [name_u]America[/name_u]
I prefer [name_f]Madeline[/name_f]!
I like the storybook charm of [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] best!
[name_f]Adeline[/name_f] is pretty but I’m seeing so many variants trending at the moment, including lots of -lynn ending ones which could increase the likelihood of your less preferred pronunciation. I’ve only ever heard [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] (this spelling) pronounced with the -line ending.
I agree that Addy/Maddy seem likely.
I like [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] best. The [name_u]French[/name_u] character from the story means this will always be a loveable name for me. Where I live, Australia, [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] is mostly pronounced line. I’ve noticed though that in the US [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] is often lyn pronunciation.
With most names you sometimes need to correct pronunciations though.
I prefer [name_f]Adeline[/name_f]. The one I know uses the line pronunciation! However, all the Madelines I know pronounce it “lynn”
