Adopted sibling

We have 2 olders. Their names have a “Y” IN their name.

So we are adopting a 2 year old boy. His name is [name_m]Reuben[/name_m] (Middle initial D).

I need 2 name suggestions:

I would like to call him a nickname like [name_m]BEN[/name_m] or [name_m]BENNY[/name_m] but I am open to suggestions. ??

In keeping with the family theme, I would like a different middle name that is spelled with a Y in it. For example, [name_u]Ryan[/name_u].

BONUS: if you can think of some combo that would combine easily, such as [name_f]Marry[/name_f] with [name_f]Anne[/name_f]. (or something???)

  • Feeling lost (but in my head it makes sense). [name_f]TIA[/name_f]!

Also, I am looking for suggestions, not opinions! Thanks, Thanks, Thanks!

[name_m]Benny[/name_m] is cute for [name_m]Reuben[/name_m], but I think Ru, [name_u]Robbie[/name_u], [name_u]Ren[/name_u] and [name_u]Rennie[/name_u] are darling! Especially [name_u]Ren[/name_u], but that’s just my opinion.
[name_m]Reuben[/name_m] [name_u]Amory[/name_u]
[name_m]Reuben[/name_m] [name_m]Clyde[/name_m]
[name_m]Reuben[/name_m] [name_m]Cyrus[/name_m]
[name_m]Reuben[/name_m] [name_m]Clay[/name_m]/[name_m]Clayton[/name_m]
[name_m]Reuben[/name_m] [name_u]Clancy[/name_u]
[name_m]Reuben[/name_m] [name_m]Floyd[/name_m]
[name_m]Reuben[/name_m] [name_u]Flynn[/name_u]
[name_m]Reuben[/name_m] [name_m]Hayes[/name_m]
[name_m]Reuben[/name_m] [name_m]Harvey[/name_m]
[name_m]Reuben[/name_m] [name_u]Murphy[/name_u]
[name_m]Reuben[/name_m] [name_u]Percy[/name_u]
[name_m]Reuben[/name_m] [name_u]Rhys[/name_u]

I love [name_m]Reuben[/name_m] as is but if you want a nickname, my favourites are [name_u]Ren[/name_u] and [name_m]Ben[/name_m].

[name_m]Reuben[/name_m] [name_m]Dempsey[/name_m]
[name_m]Reuben[/name_m] [name_m]Hayes[/name_m] (already suggested but I really like it)
[name_m]Reuben[/name_m] [name_m]Tennyson[/name_m]

[name_m]Benny[/name_m] could be a great nickname if he likes it.
[name_m]Reuben[/name_m] [name_m]Timothy[/name_m]
[name_m]Reuben[/name_m] [name_m]Jeremy[/name_m]
[name_m]Reuben[/name_m] [name_m]Gregory[/name_m]
[name_m]Reuben[/name_m] [name_m]Aloysius[/name_m]
[name_m]Reuben[/name_m] [name_u]Flynn[/name_u]
[name_m]Reuben[/name_m] [name_u]Kyle[/name_u]
[name_m]Reuben[/name_m] [name_u]Tyler[/name_u]
[name_m]Reuben[/name_m] [name_m]Myles[/name_m]
[name_m]Reuben[/name_m] [name_u]Lyle[/name_u]
[name_m]Reuben[/name_m] [name_m]Henry[/name_m]
[name_m]Reuben[/name_m] [name_m]Cyril[/name_m]
[name_m]Reuben[/name_m] [name_u]Corey[/name_u]
[name_m]Reuben[/name_m] [name_u]Casey[/name_u]

Than we can call him [name_u]Ren[/name_u] Ten. lol (I liked [name_m]Tennyson[/name_m], [name_m]Ive[/name_m] never heard it!)

I have never heard of [name_u]Ren[/name_u].

See, this is why there is forums. We need more brains!
Great Ideas, Thanks!

so you want to change his middle name? (not that that’s bad, I’m just confused which name I’m going to help with here.)

Yes. I would like to change his middle name, and shorten his first name.

A combo name would be a bonus.

 I love [name_u]Ren[/name_u] as a nickname for [name_m]Reuben[/name_m]!!!

[name_m]Reuben[/name_m] [name_m]Lysander[/name_m]
[name_m]Reuben[/name_m] [name_u]Cassidy[/name_u]
[name_m]Reuben[/name_m] [name_m]Henry[/name_m] (<3)
[name_m]Reuben[/name_m] [name_u]Layne[/name_u]
[name_m]Reuben[/name_m] Oswyn
[name_m]Reuben[/name_m] [name_u]Emory[/name_u](LOVE)
[name_m]Reuben[/name_m] [name_u]Avery[/name_u] (Cool!)

[name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps!

I am starting to like Roo.

perhaps its a pooh thing?

@JesseBRN I think Roo would be a very sweet and special “only my mom calls me that” kind of pet name. (Coming from a adult that got a new family as a teen, one of my absolute favorite things is that my foster parents gave me a nickname that only they use and it still means the world to me)

As someone who is adopted myself a possible suggestion is keeping the name but changing the spelling—— Reubyn. When I was adopted my adoptive parents changed the first letter of my name from C to a K.

Idk why but nn wise for [name_m]Reuben[/name_m] I could see [name_u]Rye[/name_u] being a possible one to use m. Maybe cause they’re both sandwhich related… Incould be waaaay off but that’s just what first cake to mind. Although Roo and [name_m]Ben[/name_m] seem like the obvious defaults.

Middle name off the batt I thought of [name_u]Dylan[/name_u]

Thank you for your insight. A few people have suggested that, (Rubyn) and it absolutely would make things easier, but seeing as that [name_m]Reuben[/name_m] is a Hispanic name, and we do speak spanish, that actually changed the name to be read Roo-[name_u]Bean[/name_u].

I also thought [name_u]Ruby[/name_u]. which is feminine, but I thought it was a possibility if the middle name could be added. [name_u]Ruby[/name_u]-____. for example.

I do like the name [name_u]Rye[/name_u], though, and something I had never considered. Thanks!

Would you use [name_u]Rudy[/name_u] as a nickname? For [name_m]Reuben[/name_m] D? I think in your situation I would keep his middle initial as D but change the name to something with personal or family significance. Best wishes to your family. x

I like the above suggestion of nn [name_u]Rudy[/name_u], combining Ru and middle initial D! Some D names with Y in them…

[name_u]Darryl[/name_u] *
[name_m]Diggory[/name_m] *
Daughtry *
[name_m]Davy[/name_m] *
[name_m]Dewey[/name_m] *
[name_m]Dwayne[/name_m] *
Daryus *

I starred my favorites, but [name_m]Reuben[/name_m] [name_m]Dwayne[/name_m] “[name_u]Rudy[/name_u]” is my absolute favorite!

Going off of this idea, you could also do a G or J mn and have nn [name_m]Benji[/name_m]! So some G and J names with Y in them…

[name_u]Gray[/name_u]/[name_u]Grey[/name_u] *
[name_m]Greggory[/name_m] *
[name_m]Jacoby[/name_m] *
[name_m]Jayce[/name_m] *

Out of these, [name_m]Reuben[/name_m] [name_m]Greggory[/name_m] “[name_m]Benji[/name_m]” is my favorite! You could also spell it as [name_m]Benjy[/name_m] so his nn has the Y in it. I’m not as fond of that spelling, but it could work!

I also like the idea of [name_m]Reuben[/name_m] [name_u]Rhys[/name_u], or even [name_m]Reuben[/name_m]-[name_u]Rhys[/name_u] as a double barreled first! This could easily work with nn [name_u]Rye[/name_u]!
