hiya, it’s been a long time again
what kind of imagery/aesthetic does artemisia reminds you of?
Italian Paintings of the [name_u]Ren[/name_u] [name_f]Era[/name_f]
[name_u]Sandy[/name_u] beaches, arrows, constellations, boats on the horizon
For me [name_f]Artemisia[/name_f] is about the [name_f]Goddess[/name_f] of Hunting. [name_f]Diana[/name_f] of [name_m]Roman[/name_m] mythology was my heroine but her name was ordinary. I looked up the Greek counterpart found [name_u]Artemis[/name_u] and [name_f]Diana[/name_f] was replaced or at least a shared entity.
So images of going out into the Australian bush and catching yabbies in a muddy melon hole. [name_u]Strong[/name_u] legs and sure feet. Resilient against ‘waves’ crashing against my body. A strong clear mind. [name_u]Brave[/name_u]. A clear horizon. Calmness.
It’s a special story for me. At eight, our older brothers left home for school. What could we do without them? I said we’ll still go out in the bush and yabby… the girls said our parents will forbid this without the older boys to take us. That I became the one who took the other girls on such excursions and adventures with approval from parents was significant. It moulded a life long value of my relationship with women, my bent for being ‘sensible,’ trusting in my own ability and importantly what I do when I am hurt and vulnerable to become vulnerable but strong. Sorry it’s so long. It’s just so special. I hope you can take imagery from my story.
artemisia is immediately connected with artemisia gentileschi, so for me the imagery is very dramatic, artistic, and inspired by the renaissance
Thank you for sharing such a beautiful story
I really love [name_f]Artemisia[/name_f] more because of this
Academic but still a bit whimsical. I immediately associate it with the Italian Renaissance
my first association is the artist, so smears of oil paint, dark greens and blues and brown, dusty windows and the italian renaissance, artemis the hunter, a general dark academia aesthetic.
