What are your thoughts on [name_f]Aislinn[/name_f]? [name_f]Do[/name_f] you think that it would get mispronounced often? I prefer thing spelling, because it’s a bit closer to being phonetically spelled then [name_f]Aisling[/name_f], but not as much as [name_f]Ashlynn[/name_f]. Which spelling do you prefer?

It will be mispronounced in [name_u]America[/name_u]. Sorry to say, but most people will look at [name_f]Aislinn[/name_f] and say ays-lin. For [name_u]America[/name_u], I would spell it [name_f]Ashlyn[/name_f]/[name_f]Ashlin[/name_f] or some such. I love original spellings, but I don’t think Celtic and the like spellings work over here. 
Also, Aisling is Ashling. My friend in Ireland has a daughter named Aisling and that’s how they pronounce it.

Also, it’s my understanding that [name_f]Aisling[/name_f] is pronounced ash-ling (see here: Irish Girl Names - Irish meanings and origins for baby girls names), so I would probably go with the spelling [name_f]Ashling[/name_f] in the US.
If you want ash-lynn, [name_f]Ashlyn[/name_f].
It kills me to see [name_f]Aisling[/name_f] spelt like [name_f]Aislinn[/name_f] or Ashylnn etc., but, living in [name_f]Ireland[/name_f], mispronunciation has never been an issue, so I suppose to make life easier, you could go with the Anglicised spelling. Although, how big an issue would it be? Is [name_f]Aisling[/name_f] really that uncommon in the US?

[name_f]Aisling[/name_f] has never been in the top 1000 in the US. So, yes, it’s uncommon. [name_f]Ashlyn[/name_f] is currently at 206 here.
Woah! It’s crazy how popular a name can be in one country without having any impact in another country.

I love [name_f]Aislinn[/name_f]! I hate that it would be mispronounced here in the States and I could never use the [name_f]Ashlyn[/name_f] spelling. The best compromise I can find is [name_f]Ashlin[/name_f] or Ashlinn.
I think if you are going to have ‘Ais’ at the beginning, which is the most potentially confusing part of the spelling, then you may as well use the ‘ling’ ending seeing as the g should be pronounced, so I vote [name_f]Aisling[/name_f]. Or, if you must, [name_f]Ashling[/name_f].
