I know Disney princess names are popular like [name_u]Ariel[/name_u], [name_f]Ella[/name_f], [name_f]Aurora[/name_f], [name_f]Belle[/name_f], and [name_f]Jasmine[/name_f] but what about using a popular male character’s name?? I am an Arab-American and like the meaning of [name_m]Aladdin[/name_m] and also love the movie. I like the nickname [name_u]Ali[/name_u] too… what do you think?? Bad idea or cute??
It feels a bit corny to me, honestly. I can’t think of anything other than the Disney prince, although I’m interested to see how the name fares after the live action film is released.
I would vote no. I understand the reasoning for sure. My only thing is [name_m]Aladdin[/name_m] is very uncommon and ties very closely to just the movie. [name_f]Jasmine[/name_f] is a flower. [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] is also tied to the lights. But [name_m]Aladdin[/name_m] is a movie title, for sure.
Some handsome names though
[name_u]Aza[/name_u]
[name_m]Ebrahim[/name_m]
[name_m]Malik[/name_m]
[name_m]Omar[/name_m]
[name_m]Al[/name_m] names
[name_u]Alden[/name_u]
[name_m]Alik[/name_m]
[name_u]Alizarin[/name_u]
[name_f]Hope[/name_f] that helps
[name_m]Aladdin[/name_m] may be a Disney prince to Americans but to me he is Mevlana’s son, still not the greatest Arabic name to use in [name_u]America[/name_u] [name_f]IMO[/name_f].
I kinda like it! People associate names with what they are familiar with. So ya most people are going to think of the movie but once a person is attached to the name they will start to associate it with the person. For example I know a [name_m]Romeo[/name_m] so I think of him first before I think of [name_m]Romeo[/name_m] and [name_f]Juliet[/name_f]. I also know a Jafar, he was born before the movie came out tho.
If you live in the USA, that would be a big no.
I don’t think it’s usable, sorry.
Is is a usual Arab name? If so, then go for it. If not, then I wouldn’t.
It is a nice name though.
I wouldn’t associate it with Disney at all. It’s a story of the Arabian Nights, like [name_m]Sinbad[/name_m] or [name_u]Ali[/name_u] [name_f]Baba[/name_f].
It’s too connected to the Disney character for me. As a pp poster mentioned, names like [name_f]Jasmine[/name_f] and [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] have other connections besides the princesses which makes them easier to handle as names. For the average American, [name_m]Aladdin[/name_m] is likely not going to have any other association than the Disney prince/the folk tale it’s based on.
Yikes. I’m sorry, I think it’s a terrible idea, at least for the US. It is a nice name, and [name_u]Ali[/name_u] is cute! But [name_m]Aladdin[/name_m] is way too much
