Albert

What do you think of the name [name]Albert[/name]? Is it coming back into fashion? What I image do you associate with [name]Albert[/name]?Also what would a cool nickname be for an modern little [name]Albert[/name]?
I have recently realized I like the name. I had long thought of [name]Albert[/name] as hopelessly unattractive, nerdy and out of style. I Went to high school with an [name]Albert[/name] and remember wondering to my self what his parents had been thinking saddling him with such an unappealing choice. I am not sure when I started to reconsider [name]Albert[/name], I had a college professor with the name, thought I always called him Professor “last name” so that probably helped, I also liked the nn. [name]Alby[/name] when I saw it on a TV character, however those instances were years ago, and it was not until quite recently that I realized I am growing REALLY fond of it. What I am essentially wondering is, Is my sudden love just a personal thing or are there others who are suddenly warming up to [name]Albert[/name] the way people have started to like other old classics like [name]Eleanor[/name] and [name]Edward[/name]?

[name]Albert[/name] has been on and off my list for a few years now. I was originally attracted to the quirky old-fashioned vibe [name]Albert[/name] has. I also really like the meaning. Right now [name]Albert[/name] is off my list because as much as I might like the idea of a little [name]Albert[/name], I don’t think I could actually name my son [name]Albert[/name]. It just doesn’t have the “cool” factor and I know that I can do better. I think it will be a while before any of the [name]Bert[/name] names become fashionable again.

This may sound funny, but my boyfriend’s cat is named [name]Albert[/name]…At first it was just ‘[name]Al[/name]’–I added the ‘bert’ part, offically, I believe. He is a total ‘[name]Albert[/name]’, too!! The name fits him perfectly. I love calling him [name]Albee[/name] as a nn, which I use a lot. [name]Albert[/name] is a great, sturdy name for a boy. Also, I think the nn [name]Albee[/name] is just so adorable!!

I have mixed feelings about [name]Albert[/name]. For me, it’s a family name, but for some reason I just can’t love it. Maybe it’s the whole [name]Bert[/name] thing that I find inattractive? Because I have the same problem with [name]Gilbert[/name] - who I love from [name]Anne[/name] of [name]Green[/name] Gables ([name]Gil[/name] is an adorable nickname!). It sounds like burp! For the same reason, I think some will be hesitant to saddle their child with such a name. Plus, it’s kind of a clunky name for a young child, don’t you think?

I’m sure that one day [name]Albert[/name] will come down out of the dusty attic and find his way back into the sun, but I agree that it’s probably going to be awhile. As for the image the name brings to mind: Hey Hey HEY, it’s Fat [name]Albert[/name]!
