I was just wondering what people thought of the name [name_f]Alberta[/name_f] as a middle for a girl? [name_m]Both[/name_m] my great grandmother and grandmother had it as their middles. It took me forever to get my grandmother to admit what her middle name was because she hated it so much. I quite like it! It’s not a middle name you hear. I think it’s interesting. Or am I horribly wrong? Is it as ugly as my grandmother made it out to be? Opinions please
If you do think its nice, what first names would you pair with it? I’m having trouble because a lot of the girl names I like end with -a or even a vowel so it just doesn’t sound right.
I suppose you could put another middle in between and give your child two middles: Ivy Grace Alberta? Hmm…
I don’t care for the name itself (it’s a Canadian province) but since it has family significance for you, I think the middle spot would be the perfect location for it. If you have lots of first name choices ending in “a”, I would advise you to break them up with another mn. [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] [name_f]Alberta[/name_f] sounds fine.
I went to high school with an [name_f]Alberta[/name_f] who went by [name_u]Allie[/name_u] (I’m Canadian and it was in [name_f]Canada[/name_f], so it was extra weird). I actually quite like it, despite the association with the province and the suggestion of the nickname Birdy is too cute!
Another, less provincial, option that would still honour your grandmothers would be [name_f]Alba[/name_f]
[name_f]Alberta[/name_f] might be totally fine in the States/elsewhere, but be aware that in [name_f]Canada[/name_f] (especially outside of [name_m]Ab[/name_m]), [name_f]Alberta[/name_f] is definitely considered to be [name_f]Canada[/name_f]'s most conservative province, and is home to the very environmentally and socially contentious tar sands, as well as the (more fun?) Calgary Stampede, so thats all I can think of when I hear that name. If these things don’t bother you though, or if geographically you’re very removed from them-[name_f]Alberta[/name_f] is a really nice vintage name.
I adore [name_f]Alberta[/name_f]! I think it’s really beautiful and quirky. [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] [name_f]Alberta[/name_f] is spectacular.
[name_f]Ivy[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] [name_f]Alberta[/name_f] is lovely! I really like [name_f]Alberta[/name_f] and it took me the longest time to realize it was a name outside of being a province in [name_f]Canada[/name_f]! My favorite nickname for it used to be [name_f]Alba[/name_f].
