Hi all,
As the title suggests, wondering if “[name_m]Albie[/name_m]” can work for “[name_m]Sebastian[/name_m]” or “[name_m]Bernard[/name_m].” This is an instance of loving the nn, but not the usual names associated with it.
Thanks!!
Hi all,

I think [name_m]Albie[/name_m] can definitely work for [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m]- it’s a bit more of a stretch for [name_m]Bernard[/name_m], but still works imo!
I don’t think it works for either tbh
Albie is adorable. I’m all for nicknames that are unrelated to the full name - I mean, why not? I like both [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] and [name_m]Bernard[/name_m]
I’m all for creative nicknames, but to be perfectly honest I don’t [name_m]Albie[/name_m] works for [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] or [name_m]Bernard[/name_m]. It’s just too much of a stretch
What about [name_m]Alaric[/name_m], Alastor, [name_m]Alasdair[/name_m], [name_m]Albert[/name_m], [name_m]Alban[/name_m], [name_m]Abel[/name_m] or [name_m]Archibald[/name_m]?
I can’t quite see it working, sorry. I do think [name_m]Albie[/name_m] works as a stand alone though
I think it’s a stretch, if I’m honest - I can’t see where [name_m]Albie[/name_m] comes from for either name.
Have you considered Al_ B_ names as a way to get [name_m]Albie[/name_m] - [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] [name_u]Benjamin[/name_u] or [name_m]Alvin[/name_m] [name_m]Bernard[/name_m], for example? If you really love [name_m]Albie[/name_m] I think it could stand alone, though it does feel very nicknamey to me.
I think it totally works! I honestly think it’s cooler that they’re not super closely related! [name_f]My[/name_f] little sister was named [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] but nicknamed [name_f]Alma[/name_f] for reasons we’ve all forgotten, and everyone she met thought it was fine! I really like [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] nicknamed [name_m]Albie[/name_m]! [name_m]Even[/name_m] though they’re not directly related, [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] has a strong ‘b’ sound, and a strong ‘a’ sound, which I think is all you really need to justify the nickname. I think if the name and nickname seems similar soundwise and stylistically, it’s perfect!
I don’t really think it works, sorry! And I think it has the potential to be a bit confusing. If you love [name_m]Albie[/name_m] then I think it’s totally fine to use as a full name on its own.
I don’t really see the connection to either name. I guess it could be an unrelated nickname but those tend for me to be names that come about naturally rather than intentionally
