I believe I’ve said this before: the Dumbledore connection isn’t a bad one, it’s just incredibly strong. It’s the first thing I think of when I hear it, and I think anyone who’s ever read [name]Harry[/name] [name]Potter[/name] and even some who haven’t will think of it first as well. I wouldn’t want my name to be so strongly tied to any one character or person, no matter how good they may be. I also think it’s a bit of an odd match with [name]Daisy[/name] and sounds a bit charicatureish with your wordy and odd (no offense) last name.

HOWEVER, you seem to really love this name. You keep coming back to it. If you really love it that much, go ahead and use it. He can always go by [name]Al[/name] if he doesn’t like it. The last thing I’d want is to dissuade you from using it only to regret that decision for years to come. So my suggestion to you would be that if you can’t find a name you love equally, use Albus and give him a safe, common middle name.

Dumbledore is a great character, don’t get me wrong. I have read all of the books countless times. For that reason, that’s all I can think about when I hear Albus, and I’m positive this is the reaction that your child will get for his entire life. I think it would get really old to constantly say “haha yes, Albus like Dumbledore,” because there is no way the [name]Harry[/name] [name]Potter[/name] series is going to disappear from popularity in the foreseeable future. I also agree with pp that I don’t like Albus with [name]Daisy[/name]. Unfortunately they sound way too mismatched to me.

Have you considered [name]Aldous[/name]/[name]Aldus[/name] as an alternative? ([name]Aldous[/name] [name]Huxley[/name] - keepin’ it literary!)
Or perhaps [name]Alban[/name] or [name]Albert[/name]? You would still have the nn of [name]Albie[/name]/[name]Alby[/name]!

I prefer my Albuses to be of the Dumbledore variety. I wouldn’t use it and it really doesn’t help that your last name has a [name]Harry[/name] [name]Potter[/name]-fantastical ring to it. =(

Not sure about Albus. Dumbledore jumps straight into my head when I think of it. I think [name]Daisy[/name] and [name]Albie[/name] make a cute duo though! And [name]Albie[/name] Drinkwater sounds super cute imo

[name]Aldus[/name] sounds and looks quite similar to Albus, but doesn’t have the inescapable [name]Harry[/name] [name]Potter[/name] connection. I second that!

I didn’t know Dumbledore’s first name was Albus, and I’ve watched at least two of the movies and read the first book years ago. The name is just not my style, and with a word-like last name, I’d pick a name-like first name.

At first I thought you were naming your child:
Albus Drinkwater …
But if it is:
Albus … Drinkwater I say go for it.
If you love it do it.
[name]Hermione[/name] is on my very short list of names (number 3) and [name]Isolde[/name] is number 1 so I think that a person should use a name if they love it.
I love Albus and it was a name before Rowling made it a character.
[name]Albie[/name] is such a cute nickname!
[name]Daisy[/name] and Albus is great!
What middle name are you considering?

I like the fact that’s it’s Dumbledore’s name as it’s a great character from a great book, but I just don’t like the name itself.

[name]Hi[/name] [name]Val[/name]!

I love Albus too (am actually considering it as well!) - it sounds so wonderful off the tongue - soft while still being obviously masculine. I second the comment that if you really love the name then go for it - there are far worse names out there than Albus Drinkwater (which actually flows quite well imo) and yes he will get Dumbledore comments all his life but Dumbledore was a decent character - he wasn’t evil so I wouldn’t worry about that too much if you really love the name. He can always introduce himself as [name]Al[/name]/[name]Albie[/name] if he prefers. I mean I met a [name]David[/name] [name]Davies[/name] the other day - now thats a bad name! I think it fits well with [name]Daisy[/name].

Best wishes to you, [name]Fran[/name] x

I really think that if you love a name so much that you keep coming back to it, there’s a reason for that, and you should use it if it means that much to you. Have you thought about using it as a middle name, though? I love the name [name]Daisy[/name] but to me, it doesn’t quite seem matched with Albus at all, even though I think Albus is a cool name. I don’t think you should give it up, though, just because of the [name]Harry[/name] [name]Potter[/name] connection. I think it’d be a great middle name.
