Can it stand on its own? Or should it only be a nickname for [name]Albert[/name]? And if it can stand on it’s own, which spelling? My partner hasn’t liked [name]Alfie[/name] or [name]Archie[/name] but actually is coming around to [name]Alby[/name]/[name]Albie[/name]! I find it adorable but not sure how it would serve him throughout life and into adulthood.
I like [name]Albert[/name], but definitely don’t love it. We are fond of nicknames, so tossing around the idea of using it as a full name. Let me know what you think ladies.
I feel you’re right in that it won’t age well. It’s very much a nickname and seems a bit too cutesy on something like a diploma or resume.
No, it can’t stand on its own and for the record, I don’t think [name]Archie[/name] and [name]Alfie[/name] can stand on their own, either.
[name]Albie[/name] makes a nice nickname for [name]Albert[/name]. It also sounds nice for [name]Alban[/name].
I think [name]Alby[/name]/[name]Albie[/name] is rather adorable, but I would give a longer name as it does feel like a nickname.
Behindthename.com says that [name]Alby[/name] is an anglicized version of [name]Ailbhe[/name] meaning white.
Instead of [name]Albert[/name], you could use: [name]Alban[/name], Albaric, [name]Albern[/name], [name]Albin[/name], [name]Albion[/name], [name]Albus[/name].
[name]Albie[/name] is adorable! But it definantly needs a full name, it’s as nickname. [name]Albert[/name] is awesome I know a little boy named [name]Albert[/name] and he’s smart and really cute. Curly blond hair and loves to be read to. I was also going to suggust [name]Albus[/name].
I know an [name]Alby[/name], I think it can stand well on its own. If you don’t love the full name I would suggest just using [name]Alby[/name]. @basicsand said it could sounds cute on a diploma or resume, but this baby will be born into a generation full of cute names. So don’t worry about it.
Great point, [name]Beth[/name]. I had not thought of it that way. Something to keep in mind.
my dad’s middle name is albin…
I had a dog named [name]Albie[/name] named after [name]Albert[/name] Einstein and when he was in trouble we called him “[name]Albert[/name]!”
Haha
I like [name]Archie[/name] better for a human name.
[name]Son[/name] of the Mask? Anyone? [name]Albie[/name] [name]Avery[/name]? I think it can stand alone, in large part because of this movie. It’s a good NN for [name]Albert[/name] or [name]Albin[/name].
I think it’s a very cute nn for [name]Albert[/name]. I’m not sure I think it stands on its own, although PPs are right that this current generation is full of names that have previously only been considered nicknames. Still, I think I’d prefer [name]Albert[/name] for the birth certificate myself. I think it’s nice for the child to have options
I think [name]Albie[/name]'s lovely and I prefer this spelling. I dp prefer it as a nn for [name]Albert[/name], but, if you’re in the UK, there are that many just-Alfies about, I don’t think it would really matter.
I prefer [name]Albie[/name] as a nickname, that way he has an option as an adult. [name]Albert[/name] is a great name, but I like [name]Alban[/name] and [name]Albion[/name] even more.
