Thoughts on [name_u]Sandy[/name_u] as a nickname for [name_m]Aleksander[/name_m]?
After such a challenge to name this little guy, he’s [name_m]Aleksander[/name_m] [name_u]Blaise[/name_u] with the intent to call him [name_u]Blaise[/name_u]. However, we’re not 100% sure [name_u]Blaise[/name_u] fits him so well so we’re working on other options (maybe we’ll stick with [name_u]Blaise[/name_u] - I’m just having trouble shaking the “blaze” connection suddenly).
Luckily, [name_m]Aleksander[/name_m] is pretty nickname rich, so it feels like there are options That said, I don’t particularly love [name_u]Alex[/name_u] because of how common it is and names like Xander/Skander, etc. don’t really fit us. Maybe [name_m]Aleksey[/name_m] could work, but with big brother [name_m]Nikolai[/name_m], that swings quite Russian (which we are not)
I know that [name_u]Sandy[/name_u] is/was commonly used as a nickname for [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] in [name_u]Scotland[/name_u] and considering our spelling of [name_m]Aleksander[/name_m], it seems even more natural.
What are your thoughts on [name_m]Aleksander[/name_m] nicknamed [name_u]Sandy[/name_u]? Does it work? [name_u]Honest[/name_u] opinions welcome I feel like I am so neck-deep in names that my judgement is a bit cloudy at this point
[name_u]Sandy[/name_u] completely works as a nickname for [name_m]Aleksander[/name_m] and is adorable. I absolutely love the idea of [name_u]Sandy[/name_u]!
A few other options could be [name_m]Al[/name_m], [name_u]Lex[/name_u]. [name_u]Andy[/name_u], [name_m]Ander[/name_m], [name_m]Anders[/name_m], or [name_u]Sasha[/name_u] too.
Honestly, I have a hard time seeing [name_u]Sandy[/name_u] on a boy. Maybe because it’s my mother-in-law’s name It does feel a lot like a grandma name to me, which makes it hard for me to see on a boy.
I like [name_u]Sandy[/name_u] as a nickname. Like [name_u]Sandy[/name_u] from The OC tv show I also like [name_u]Sander[/name_u] as a nickname for [name_m]Aleksander[/name_m].
Well yes. It works very well, although I remember you say you are in Europe, in that case depending on where you are, you might get [name_u]Ale[/name_u] / [name_u]Alex[/name_u] or [name_u]Sasha[/name_u] / [name_u]Sacha[/name_u], I guess, and anyway [name_u]Sandy[/name_u] won’t be that natural to be honest.
[name_u]Sasha[/name_u] and [name_u]Niko[/name_u] / [name_u]Nico[/name_u] would be cute though. don’t even sound that Eastern European to me, just vaguely Paneuropean (Sasha and [name_u]Nico[/name_u] could be [name_u]French[/name_u], Italian, British, german, dutch, Swiss, Russian, Swedish… exc)
I think if it feels natural for you to call him that, it’s a good option!
I think [name_u]Sander[/name_u] could also work if you’re looking for something less nickname-y for other people to call him (if you don’t want go with [name_m]Aleksander[/name_m] all the time), with [name_u]Sandy[/name_u] being something only his family and close friends call him.
