Thoughts on this name? Pronounced Uh-lee-nuh.
I agree with @jonquils
Nice enough!
cute! also nice for a short version of [name_f]Valentina[/name_f]
I prefer the [name_f]Alina[/name_f] spelling but I like it!
I think [name_f]Alena[/name_f] will get confused with [name_f]Elena[/name_f]! I second the [name_f]Alina[/name_f] spelling as that’s the original and doesn’t complicate it! Arena is also my favorite compared to both [name_f]Alina[/name_f]/Alena
I like it but prefer [name_f]Alana[/name_f] (Uh-lan-uh)
I prefer it spelled [name_f]Alina[/name_f] but it’s a sweet name
I always want to like these type names but get hung up on the differences in pronunciation. If correcting people on your preferred pronunciation doesn’t bother you- then it’s a great name!
It’s very pretty. I would worry about confusion with similar names as others have pointed out.
It’s not my cup of tea, but I can’t put my finger on why.
the name sounds nice but the spelling [name_f]Alina[/name_f] is so much better four me.
Ditto this! The only [name_f]Alena[/name_f] I know pronounces her name differently so I’d be inclined to spell it [name_f]Alina[/name_f] to get your desired pronunciation.
Based on this thread, I’d say it’s too confusing wether it’s pronounced like [name_f]Elena[/name_f] or [name_f]Alina[/name_f]. I would have said it like [name_f]Elena[/name_f].
It’s nice but would prefer either [name_f]Elena[/name_f] or [name_f]Alina[/name_f] depending on pronunciation
It’s quite nice.
I prefer the Slavic spelling, [name_f]Alina[/name_f]
I think it’s a lovely name, but I would recommend the [name_f]Alina[/name_f] spelling to get that pronunciation.
I’ve met an [name_f]Alena[/name_f], pronounced a-LEN-a, so that is how I would pronounce [name_f]Alena[/name_f] automatically.
I just feel it blends into so many similar names - such as [name_f]Elena[/name_f], [name_f]Alina[/name_f], [name_f]Lena[/name_f], [name_f]Lara[/name_f], [name_f]Laila[/name_f], [name_f]Alia[/name_f], [name_f]Aliyah[/name_f], [name_f]Aria[/name_f], [name_f]Athena[/name_f], [name_f]Lana[/name_f] etc. And it doesn’t have strong sounds.
I love [name_f]Alena[/name_f]. It’s simple, soft and beautiful!
